This was such a fun and refreshing enemies to lovers take. I really enjoyed all the drama and intrigue of D.C. politics. I don't think I've ever read a book with that particular focus before so it was really interesting and held my attention. I also loved the introduction to Creekville. It's such a quaint little town and it's so wild that its peacefulness and serenity is only a couple of hours from the hustle and bustle of the nation's capitol. I'm looking forward to returning to this fun town soon! Brooke...Melanie got me with a teacher FMC (because I'm a teacher myself). There honestly don't seem to be a ton of them so I really enjoy it when one shows up. I loved how Brooke had totally reinvented herself with this career change, but also seemed to be settling into what her true purpose was all along. I lived for all the nerdy moments and how passionate she was about her job. I also thought it was extremely impressive that Brooke never came across as a victim. She just moved on with this quiet conviction that I really respect. Ian...I didn't love him at the beginning. Like Brooke, I felt like he came across a bit cocky. But then his true colors shined though and I saw what a respectful and patient guy he was. It’s a total surprise when she finds, Pepper, who lives and works on the farm and is searching for her late grandmother’s will. The two come to a truce of sorts where both stay on the farm. As they decide to compete in a contest to help Pepper buy back the farm they develop a friendship with benefits that quickly becomes more. This was just so tender. I wanted to give Opal and Pepper a hug at different points. I loved the setting on the flower farm and am dreaming of a beautiful bouquet after reading. I loved the friendship with benefits they shared that was quickly more. I just adore the relatable characters Eddings writes. They both needed someone to love them. I loved how they cared die each other. I mostly listened to the audiobook and appreciated how the narrator was able to alternate between Pepper and Opal. As always, I cannot wait for more books from Mazey Eddings. I must admit I was starting to lose a little faith that this series would have a satisfying ending but I'm so glad to have been proved wrong! In my opinion everything was wrapped up perfectly and it was done in such a high stakes way where I honestly had know idea what was going to happen. This book had me on the edge of my seat constantly. I was stressed! I laughed, I cried (alot) and although I was ready for this series to end I'm sad that it has. There was a lot less spice in this one but what was there was great. There was so much action and facing death though that spice didn't always fit in appropriately. I am notorious for using whatever I can find as a bookmark: ✔️ The paper the library adds to my books when they're available for pickup ✔️ An old receipt ✔️ Junk mail ✔️ A necklace/bracelet ✔️ A discount card for a frozen yogurt place that closed years ago Literally, you name it and I have probably used it or something similar as a bookmark. I can't bring myself to dog-ear pages so I make due with what I have lying around🤦♀️ My current bookmark is from my local library (the have a container of bookmarks up for grabs). It features one of my favorite painters, Mary Cassatt, and advertises an exhibit featuring her at the Art Institute of Chicago... Between October 1998-1999. È quasi una saga familiare con tanto sale e pepe. L’unione tra racconto e disegni è geniale, crea quella giusta suspense e fa sentire il lettore coinvolto, come se stesse partecipando alle indagini di Mallory e Adrian.
