I have been looking for suitable walks of about 1 hour that aren't too strenuous but are scenic for some upcoming guests. The first are Bracklinn Falls above the town of Callander and the second are the Falls of Leny just to the west of Callander. Confession - I want a plot to include a submarine, which is difficult to do for a Regency era story. I was excited when I came across a copy of the first submersible vessel, the Turtle, at the International Spy Museum. Created in 1775, is the world's first submersible vessel used in combat. It's small, peddle powered, and only allows for around 20 minutes of air. Still, it's an engineering feat that we need to celebrate. I got to color, cut and paste my worries away for a while. I'll be honest, I like the idea of being crafty, but the reality of my craftiness is more Pinterest fail than Pinterest worthy. 😜 Regardless of the results, I did have fun. I completed one card and started a second. I learned about "pop tape" that I can get to make the other cards 3D. 📖 Current read, The Musical Human by Michael Spitzer. Just had a bit of a special moment reading about the history of music in Liverpool. Spitzer describes the famous Rushworth music shop which traded for two centuries. They provided instruments for musicians, including Lennon and McCartney who would visit to try out guitars in between lunchtime performances at the Cavern. I know I have a few new people in our group here! Just wanted to say it’s never too late to start a dream. If you have something that you want to do just do it. Life is way too short. This business that I am creating, it is that, a business. It was a hobby that I realized I loved doing and now I am making it into a business. Yes I still have A LOT to learn and A LOT of things that I need to fix in this business. BUT, starting the 20th I will be on a flex schedule which means I can basically make my own schedule. So I will be making some more time for this business. This week I am starting the process of getting inventory for less wait time. Every week I will be building inventory. Guys, this isn’t a hobby anymore. This is my dream. I want so much for myself and my family. When I say I have huge goals, I’m not kidding. And I want that for my friends with their small businesses too. I would love to get so many people to support more small businesses especially around the holidays then making the rich richer. I am also going to start making a schedule for myself and work on my office on my next day off. Kaunas 🇱🇹 is the cultural capital of Europe in 2022 and I had the chance to be there for a week. Here’s a photo dump showcasing the Future Memory event, the Irina Abramovic exhibit which featured video interviews that blew my mind, and William Kentridge exhibit’s as well ‘That which we do not remember’. Another highlight was learning more about the creative uprising in the 70s in Lithuania, expressing revolt against the Russian regime and occupation at the time, in the exhibition titled 1972. An amazing discovery was the work of Stasys Usinskas a polymath modernist, pioneer of engineering, painting, stained glass and marionette design. Finally, we know little in my part of the world of the tradition of Crosses and God carvers, as a form of ritual and protest dating back to paganism pre-Christianisation. It’s important to immerse yourself in history, not just futures, to understand better the world. This week in Kaunas was a perfect mix, beautifully embodied by my last day experiencing the virtual reality film ‘Trail of Angels’ transporting you in Mikalojus Konstantinos Ciurlionis’s metaphysical body of work.
