One of the questions I get most often from honeymoon clients: Do I need to change my name before our trip?. The answer: It depends (but usually, no 😉)! Popular honeymoons usually include traveling to an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean or going on a cruise, both of which (usually) require a passport. Since you likely won’t be legally changing your name (with the social security office, DMV, passport agency, the list goes on) until after your I-do’s are complete, the next question is how soon after the ceremony are you planning on traveling? Many couples choose to take their honeymoon immediately after the wedding, or in the soon-following weeks/months. The current processing time for passports is around 18 weeks (over 4 months). Not to mention that you’d likely need to wait to start the passport application process until after you’ve first changed your name on your social security card, and probably also your driver’s license. You also don’t want to bank on your passport coming in just in time for your trip, but rather make sure you have it in advance. So, as of right now, I would recommend traveling with your current (valid) passport in your maiden name unless you’re planning a honeymoon to begin at least 6-9 months after your wedding. Even if you’re planning a delayed honeymoon, it would take quite a bit of stress off your newlywed plate to not have to stress or worry about receiving your passport in time for your trip. That being said, my recommendation is almost always to go ahead and take your honeymoon with your maiden name (enjoy it one last time), and then start the process of changing your name when you return home. Let’s talk about the all new 🧞♂️✨ DISNEY GENIE ✨🧞♂️ this is going to be a new part of the My Disney Experience App and is essentially 3-fold:. 🧞♂️ Disney Genie - complimentary new digital service in the MDE app that helps guide you to create an itinerary for your day and find nearby attractions with the lowest standby wait times. You can also have a personalized experience based on your interests. 🧞♂️ Disney Genie+ - a paid service essentially replacing the previous FastPass system at Walt Disney World and MaxPass system at Disneyland. This will allow you to make Lightning Lane selections for one attraction at a time all throughout your day. 🧞♂️ Individual attraction selections - this is an additional paid service where you can schedule a time to arrive at up to two high demand attractions not included in Genie+ per day. Overall, I am really excited about this new service! The FastPass system needed an update in my opinion, and this will give guests more flexibility and benefit. Here are some other top things you need to know:. ✨ We don’t have a date of when this new program will start or when it’ll be available to add to your existing package. ✨ The Genie+ option will cost $15 per ticket per day at Disney World and $20 per ticket per day at DLR. ✨ We don’t know the cost of the individual attraction selection option - it’ll depend on the attraction and the day. ✨ Attraction selections will be done the day of, not in advance (previously FastPasses opened for booking 60 days before check in for Disney Resort guests). ✨ Guests can make one attraction selection at a time, as many times as you would like, as spots are available. ✨ You will be able to park hop with this new system and reserve attractions across multiple parks in the same day. Resort room tour! ✨🐴 welcome to Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa! This is a newly remodeled deluxe studio complete with a queen bed, a queen size pull-down bed, and a kitchenette. Our patio had a view of the golf course and our room was right next to the bus stop, one of the pools, and a short walk to the lobby. Saratoga Springs is a very large resort so one of my biggest tips for staying here (and something I can do for you when you book with me) is to make sure you know your top preferences of where you’d like your room located and request them - whether that be close to Disney Springs, a pool, transportation, or the lobby and dining areas. Got to ride Velocicoaster for the second time and be on the front row today!! Hagrid’s is still my favorite ride anywhere ever, but Velocicoaster is so fun and such a thrill 🤩🦖🎢 the ride officially opens June 10, but we were able to ride thanks to the park running technical rehearsals during a soft open. This is not guaranteed any day or time, but definitely a must do if you see wait times posted while you’re at the park! Character dining is returning to Aulani!! 🎉 beginning on May 7, 2021, character breakfast at Makahiki Restaurant will resume at Disney’s resort in Hawaii.
