Weeks 35-36, 2023 (Part 3) 300. Rosa Peral Tapes (2023) (Netflix) Taking a more objective view of the Rosa Peral case, the documentary covers the investigation from multiple viewpoints, leading to her trial by media, conviction, and incarceration. 9/10 301. Wrestlers S1 (2023) (TV Series, Netflix) Following a mid-level wrestling promotion in Kentucky, this documentary not only covers the business side of running the promotion but also the creative process as well as the aspirations of the talent and crew involved. 9/10 302. A Haunting in Venice (2023) It seems the third time is the charm for Kenneth Branagh's Poirot series, as the shorter runtime, tighter focus, stunning visuals, and the horror elements make for a scrumptious time in the cinema, even if the mystery itself is quite obvious. 8/10 303. Mr. Inbetween S1-3 (2018-2021) (TV Series, FX) Gritty, tense, absurd, funny, and shocking in equal measure, Mr. Inbetween is a fantastic show and a remarkably easy binge. Scott Ryan is a name to look out for. 10/10 304. Dave S3 (2023) (TV Series, FX) Dave has always been genuinely funny in its awkwardness and pushing the envelope of cringe, but where it truly excels is in its accurate depiction of heartbreak. 10/10 305. Mask Girl (2023) (TV Series, Netflix) After hearing so many good reviews for this show, nothing could prepare me for this twisty series that leaves you always in doubt as to where it will lead. 9/10 306. Foundation S2 (2023) (TV Series, AppleTV+) Improving on an already stellar first season, Foundation is sci-fi in its grandest vision. Ambitious, beautiful, and crafted with exceeding care. 10/10 307. Heels S2 (2023) (TV Series, Starz) A solid follow-up season that builds on the familial relationships that are the show’s strength. Heels showcases the grit and heart that is front and center within independent wrestling promotions. 8/10 #Cinemab72 #moviereview #moviebuff #movieposter #movielover #filmreview #moviecollection #moviescene #filmlover #movielovers #cinephilecommunity #movieaddict #filmbuff #moviereviews #moviegeek #movieclips #movienews #filmreviews #filmcritic #moviecritic #movierecommendation

Weeks 35-36, 2023 (Part 2) 292. The Nun 2 (2023) Much better than the first outing, but director Michael Chaves' overreliance on using the same horror tropes can get tiresome at times. 6/10 293. The Afterparty S2 (2023) (TV Series, AppleTV+) Covering a much more diverse range of genres than its previous season and featuring a plethora of guest stars, The Afterparty remains one of the best new shows on TV, despite the mystery itself being less engaging this time around. 8/10 294. We Are Newcastle United S1 (2023, Prime Video) Essentially covering the 2022/23 season post-acquisition, this documentary covers every level of the Newcastle organization as they bring new hope and resurgence to a well-loved and storied football club. 9/10 295. Special Ops: Lioness S1 (2023) (TV Series, Paramount+) Taylor Sheridan hits another home run with this thrilling series featuring strong performances all around. Looking forward to season 2. 8/10 296. Selling OC S2 (2023) (TV Series, Netflix) Drama, houses, and more drama… Netflix has perfected the formula. An easy binge, but the conversations on Reddit post-binge are where it’s at. 6/10 297. Jawan (2023) Shah Rukh Khan is masterful in this bloated offering that tries to do too many things at once. Entertaining, albeit tiresome at times. 6/10 298. Just Like That S2 (2023) (TV Series, Max) Much better than Season 1, the series finally finds its groove, offering far more interesting topics and the reintroduction of fan-favorite Aidan. Fingers crossed we get Samantha back as a series regular next season. 7/10 299. Burning Body (2023) (TV Series, Netflix) Based on a true story, Burning Body follows a fantastic Úrsula Corberó as the conniving Rosa Peral as she manipulates the men around her, leading to a shocking murder. 8/10 #Cinemab72 #moviereview #moviebuff #movieposter #movielover #filmreview #moviecollection #moviescene #filmlover #movielovers #cinephilecommunity #movieaddict #filmbuff #moviereviews #moviegeek #movieclips #movienews #filmreviews #filmcritic #moviecritic #movierecommendation

Weeks 35-36, 2023 (Part 1) 284. The Last Voyage of The Demeter (2023) The promising, claustrophobic setting lends a strong Alien vibe to the proceedings, but the telegraphed scares and poor execution leave much to be desired. 6/10 285. Equalizer (2014) – 8/10 286. Equalizer 2 (2018) – 7/10 287. Equalizer 3 (2023) – 7/10 As a franchise, The Equalizer films may not be the most original when it comes to action movies, but thanks to the sheer charisma and screen presence of Denzel, these films remain endlessly rewatchable. 288. Dark Side of the Ring S4 (2023) (TV Series) Another gut-wrenching compilation of stories from the squared circle, exposing the folly of our past heroes. 8/10 289. One Piece S1 (2023) (TV Series, Netflix) Coming to this totally blind, having not watched the anime or read the manga it’s based on, I found the series to be quite enjoyable, with colorful characters and genuine heart. 8/10 290. Strays (2023) Will Ferrell and Jamie Foxx as talking dogs in an R-rated comedy should sound like a winning formula… however, it’s not exactly the riot I was hoping for. A decent, lazy evening watch at best. 6/10 291. Anwar: The Untold Story (2023) In what could have been an interesting subject, this biopic fails on several levels, in the portrayal of Anwar as a flawless angel and also in the repetitious manner in which it addresses corruption. We get the message already; we heard you the first 10 times. A balanced approach and stronger direction would have made for a much better film. 3/10 #Cinemab72 #moviereview #moviebuff #movieposter #movielover #filmreview #moviecollection #moviescene #filmlover #movielovers #cinephilecommunity #movieaddict #filmbuff #moviereviews #moviegeek #movieclips #movienews #filmreviews #filmcritic #moviecritic #movierecommendation

Week 33 & 34, 2023 (Part 3) 277. Malbatt: Misi Bakara (2023) A decent effort that could have been so much better if it was less ambitious. A smaller scale focus on a few individuals would have heightened the tension, giving us far more developed characters, better allocation of budget and allowing us to be invested in the story. 6/10 278. Past Lives (2023) Celine Song’s debut film is a beautifully crafted masterpiece of love and loss told with subtlety and empathy. highly recommended. 10/10 279. Con Air (1997) A campy Nic Cage action thriller that clearly knows what it is and has fun with it. A huge blast from beginning to end. 8/10 280. Face/Off (1997) Two stars and a legendary director, all at the height of their craft. Travolta, Cage and Woo made one of the best action films of all time. Filled to the brim slo-mo gun-fu, great lines and some of the best overacting you will ever see. Hell of a ride. 9/10 281. Snake Eyes (1998) Brain De Palma uses every trick in the book in this stylish mystery thriller that somewhat disappoints in its resolution. Still worthwhile for Nic Cage’s smarmy performance and the journey itself. 7/10 282. The Rock (1996) Sean Connery and Nic Cage, share magnetic chemistry in this Michael Bay action adventure that has amazing set pieces and a memorable score. 10/10 283. Jack Ryan S4 (2023)(TV Series, Prime Video) A fitting end to this action espionage series as John Krasinski hangs up his mantle as Jack Ryan while leaving an indelible mark on a role that has such a huge legacy. 8/10 #cinemab72 #moviereview #movie #movies #film #filmreview #cinema #review #moviereviews #films #movienight #cinephile #moviescenes #netflix #movielover #moviebuff #movietime #horror #filmcritic #filmreviews #movierecommendation #moviecritic #hollywood #moviequotes #horrormovies #cinematography #movieaddict #reviews #drama #podcast

Week 33 & 34, 2023 (Part 2) 269. Depp V. Heard (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) We’ve all seen the memes and the clips, this documentary tries to give more context to this saga by placing testimonies side by side with recently released evidence. It’s well produced but frankly I don’t think anyone cares anymore. 7/10 270. The Wrath of Becky (2023) Lulu Wilson is back to kicking ass as Becky in this hilariously violent sequel. 8/10 271. The Three Musketeers: D'Artagnan (2023) An updated and gritty retelling of the classic tale that excels, thanks to great performances, genuine intrigue and fantastic visual flair. 9/10 272. Sympathy for the Devil (2023) Taking significant inspiration from Collateral, Sympathy for the Devil is worth the watch purely for Nic Cage’s performance. 7/10 273. Hidden Strike (2023)(Netflix) On paper this sounds like a fun film but Jackie’s poor chemistry with Cena, the undercooked story and the overreliance on poor visual effects hampers the experience. 6/10 274. God is a Bullet (2023) A brutal slow burn revenge tale that could have benefited from a much tighter focus. What we have instead is a meandering character study on pain, loss and retribution that’s a slog to watch despite the strong performances. 6/10 275. The Witcher S3 (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) A disservice to not only Witcher fans but to Henry Cavill’s turn as Geralt. 3/10 276. Grand Turismo (2023) A well-made underdog tale that utilises every cliche in the book but executed at an elevated level thanks to solid direction, great acting and incredible racing sequences. 8/10 #cinemab72 #moviereview #movie #movies #film #filmreview #cinema #review #moviereviews #films #movienight #cinephile #moviescenes #netflix #movielover #moviebuff #movietime #horror #filmcritic #filmreviews #movierecommendation #moviecritic #hollywood #moviequotes #horrormovies #cinematography #movieaddict #reviews #drama #podcast

Week 33 & 34, 2023 (Part 1) 261. Joy Ride (2023) If you love raunchy humour ala Bridesmaids, then you should been in for a treat. 8/10 262. No Hard Feelings (2023) The jokes may not land as hard as you’d expect, however the earnest chemistry between Jennifer Lawrence and Andrew Barth managed to sustain my interest. 6/10 263. Twisted Metal S1 (2023)(TV Series, Peacock) I’ve never played the game so based purely on entertainment value, Twisted Metal’s B-movie sensibilities hit the right spot. Looking forward to Season 2. 8/10 264. Warrior S3 (2023)(TV Series, HBO Max) Severely underrated during its initial run, Warrior gets a second chance in sticking the landing and it does with a solid season of intrigue and brutal action. Hope we can have a 4th season but with the current situation in Hollywood, it might be unlikely. 9/10 265. Domina S2 (2023)(TV Series, MGM+) Escalating the drama from the previous season, Domina works best when it’s about the intricacies of its characters relationships and the ensuing politics, unfortunately the time jumps and constant shifting between crisis after crisis devoid the show of its tension. 6.5/10 266. Cobweb (2023) Wasting its interesting horror premise in which a child slowly loses trust with his parents, thanks to a frankly rubbish third act. 5/10 267. Maamannan (2023) A solid drama, that highlights issues of corruption and social class. Could have benefited from a stronger finale. 7/10 268. The Ghost of Richard Harris (2022) A prolific and often times controversial actor, the enigma that is Richard Harris, is explored with great detail by filmmaker, Adrian Sibley. An insightful watch. 9/10 #cinemab72 #moviereview #movie #movies #film #filmreview #cinema #review #moviereviews #films #movienight #cinephile #moviescenes #netflix #movielover #moviebuff #movietime #horror #filmcritic #filmreviews #movierecommendation #moviecritic #hollywood #moviequotes #horrormovies #cinematography #movieaddict #reviews #drama #podcast

Week 28-32, 2023 (Part 3) 253. The Lincoln Lawyer S2 (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) Following in the footsteps of other David E. Kelly courtroom series, The Lincoln Lawyer is filled with fully realised and fascinating characters even if the case itself is rather formulaic. Easy binge. 7/10 254. Ponniyin Selvan: 2 (2023)(Prime Video) Mani Ratnam manages to craft a satisfying end to his complex epic, weaving a tapestry of love, revenge, honour and grief. 8/10 255. The Hunt for Veerappan (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) An engrossing watch from start to finish as we follow the story of one of India’s biggest and longest manhunts. 9/10 256. The Moon (2023) While the premise itself of an astronaut stuck on the moon ensures a tense affair, the strong over-reliance on melodrama severely hurts the film. 6/10 257. Rahsia (2023) A solid throwback horror film, that effectively uses genre conventions and great performances to build tension. Could have used a lot less cheap jump scares though. 7/10 258. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds S2 (2023) Strange New Worlds comes to its own in its sophomore season, filled with more character drama and rewarding threads that tie back to established lore while not shying away from taking narrative risks. 10/10 259. Jailer (2023) Jailer may not be a good film by any means, the story is as paper thin as wet rice paper, but as far as Rajini movies go, this is immense fun in a packed theatre with fans. 7/10 260. Heart of Stone (2023)(Netflix) A huge budget, Gal Gadot and a potential spy franchise would sound like a winning formula but the soulless delivery and dull by the numbers approach makes for a terrible slog. Netflix should take a page out of the Mission Impossible franchise in terms of keeping things fresh. 5/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #tiff #romcom

Week 28-32, 2023 (Part 2) 245. Stillwater (2021) Matt Damon delivers a sterling performance in this drama where a fathers journey to save his daughter leads him to find himself in the process. 8/10 246. The Haunted Mansion (2023) A fun family horror comedy that has surprising heart, that is a great way to introduce kids to the horror genre. 7/10 247. Talk to Me (2023) Youtubers turned filmmakers, the Philippou brothers have managed to create horror magic from a well-worn premise, with inventive visuals, gore, and great performances from its young cast. 9/10 248. They Cloned Tyrone (2023)(Netflix) A funny and wholly unexpected sci fi comedy with a ridiculously funny turn from Jamie Foxx. Highly recommended. 9/10 249. Psycho Goreman (2020) A world destroying demon comes under the control of an asshole kid. Inventive carnage and surprisingly decent world-building. B-grade fun at its finest. 7/10 250. Resident Evil: Dead Island (2023) If you’ve enjoyed the animated movies that have come before, it’s more of the same. Great action sequences punctuated by paper thin plot. 6/10 251. Hijack S1 (2023)(TV Series, AppleTV) A solid airplane thriller that’s a throwback to classic 90’s movies like Passenger 57 and The Negotiator, carried by the ever-reliable suave presence of Idris Elba. 8/10 252. Meg 2: The Trench (2023) A lazily made cash grab, that makes the cardinal sin of side-lining the main attraction (THE SHARKS!) for eco terrorists. Even the slight uptick in action in the final 20 mins doesn’t improve things. 5/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #tiff #romcom

8/15/2023, 4:03:38 AM

Week 28-32, 2023 (Part 1) 237. Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning: Part 1 (2023) Filled with great action set pieces and jaw-dropping stunts, Tom Cruise proves there’s still gas in this long running franchise. 8/10 238. The Out-Laws (2023)(Netflix) A generic comedy that is a solid time waster if you’re looking to burn time. 6/10 239. Asteroid City (2023) I love Wes Anderson a lot, but even as a fan I can’t help but feel that he is overindulgent in this outing. Meandering and longwinded. 6/10 240. Platonic S1 (2023)(TV Series, AppleTV+) A great dramedy bolstered by fantastic chemistry between Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne. 9/10 241. The Idol S1 (2023)(TV Series, Max) If you’re looking for something to hate watch, look no further. Everything about this screams cringe in the most literal sense. 3/10 242. The Blackening (2023) The Blackening takes black stereotypes within horror films and intelligently spins it on its head; however, it could be funnier as the jokes get quite repetitive. 6/10 243. Barbie (2023) Visually inventive, genuinely funny and subversive, Greta Gerwig serves up another winner. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are fantastic as Barbie and Ken. 9/10 244. Oppenheimer (2023) Intimate as it is epic, Oppenheimer is Nolan at his most personal, building his narrative around an incredible central performance by Cillian Murphy. 10/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #tiff #romcom

8/15/2023, 4:02:22 AM

Week 23 & 24, 2023 (Part 2) 203. Following (1999) Christopher Nolan’s debut feature-length film has all the hallmarks that will define all his future works. Truly incredible is how effective the storytelling was for the limited budget and other constraints he had to work with. Masterful. 9/10 204. Interstellar (2014) Nolan channels his inner Kubrick in showcasing grand space vistas, while deftly weaving scientific concepts with heartfelt emotion. 9/10 205. Insomnia (2002) Arguably the least representative of Nolan’s style, Insomnia is a well-made crime thriller featuring a understated Pacino going one on one against a deliciously villainous Robin Williams. 9/10 206. The Prestige (2006) A tapestry of revenge and lies between two competing magicians set in Victorian London, The Prestige is Nolan at the true height of his powers, bolstered by the success of his Batman film and allowed to truly explore storytelling techniques that will define his later films. 10/10 207. Inception (2010) A feat in terms of melding the mind-boggling concept of a heist within multiple layers of dreams that has genuine stakes and substance, Inception is to me, Nolan at his best. 10/10 208. Memento (2000) The first Nolan film that I saw, Memento utilises its reverse chronological storytelling to sometimes humorous but ultimately devastating effect. 10/10 209. Dunkirk (2017) A tense and well-acted ensemble piece that fully immerses you while still experimenting with time as an effective storytelling device. 9/10 210. Tenet (2020) Leaning heavily into the concept of time dilation and entropy, Tenet is pure high concept that rewards repeated viewings; however, it lacks the emotional core that balanced his previous films. 8/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #tiff #romcom

6/23/2023, 1:53:07 PM

Week23&24, 2023 (Part1) 193. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023) Better than the Bayformers films by a mile, Rise of The Beasts manages to keep itself entertaining thanks to a decent dose of nostalgia. Pity the titular Beasts were not fully utilised. 6/10 194. Arnold (2023) (TV Series, Netflix) A comprehensive documentary following Arnie’s childhood, his dominance in bodybuilding and Hollywood and his political career. As much as it focuses on his successes, the man doesn’t shy away from his mistakes. Highly recommended. 9/10 195. Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham (2023) Taking familiar characters and giving them a Lovecraftian twist, this animated Batman adventure is worth your time. 8/10 196. Blackberry (2023) A well-paced and acted biopic, that highlights the rise and sudden fall of the once popular global brand. 8/10 197. Robots (2023) While the premise of using robots to handle your dating life seems promising at first, the execution itself is severely lacking in any ingenuity. 3/10 198. Accident Man: Hitman's Holiday (2022) If you love Scott Adkins, you can’t go wrong with this action fest, just keep your expectations low on the story front. 7/10 199. The Devil's Conspiracy (2023) The film itself has lofty ideas but the horrible performances and lethargic pacing really made this a tough watch. 2/10 200. The Law According to Lidia Poët S1 (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) A smart and well written investigative series that is an easy binge. Matilda De Angelis is a bona fide star in the making. 8/10 201. The Flash (2023) An enjoyable superhero romp that works well, thanks to Ezra Miller successfully pulling off double duty, Keaton’s return as Batman and its strong beating heart at its centre. However, watching this I can’t help but compare the film to the far superior animated Flashpoint Paradox that supersedes it in both sheer scale and ambition. 7/10 202. Extraction 2 (2023)(Netflix) Larger in terms of scale and execution, Extraction is pure escalation in every regard. Highly recommended for action fans. 8/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight

6/23/2023, 1:48:17 PM

Week 21, 2023 (Part 2) 173. The Little Mermaid (2023) As far as Disney remakes come, The Little Mermaid is pretty good, with Halle Bailey being the clear standout as Ariel. However, I still find this remake exercise to be pointless as the magic of the original animation just can’t be replicated. 7/10 174. FUBAR S1(2023)(TV Series, Netflix) In what essentially feels like a low budget sequel of True Lies, FUBAR is an Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle that relies heavily to his charisma and great sense of humour to gloss over the TV scale action sequences and predictable storyline. 6/10 175. Polis Evo (2015)(Netflix) A formulaic buddy cop film with a distinct Malaysian East Coast flavour that works thanks to the effortless chemistry of Zizan Razak and Shaheizy Sam. 8/10 176. Polis Evo 2 (2018)(Netflix) This sequel takes a far more serious, bigger, and louder approach. While the terrorist cult story is compelling, (elevated by a truly chilling performance from Hasnul Rahmat), it however severely lacks the chemistry between the leads that gave the original its heart and sense of fun. 7/10 177. Mother's Day (2023)(Netflix) A similar effort to the recent JLo action flick, Mother’s Day succeeds where that failed, the bad guys are far more colourful and the action is much better staged with a genuine sense of danger. 7/10 178. Succession S4 (2023)(TV Series, HBO) Consistently brilliant, darkly funny while also being deeply moving and filled with incredible performances. Succession ends on a perfect high, cementing itself as one of the greatest shows on television. 10/10 179. Harum Malam (2023)(Disney+) Harum Malam has all the ingredients of a great horror film, a great cast, a deeply unsettling premise and stunningly grotesque make up effects. The execution however feels somewhat uneven, thus never allowing us to truly empathise with the characters. A missed opportunity. 7/10 180. Fawlty Towers S1-S2 (1975) John Cleese delivers a masterclass in physical comedy in every episode of this classic series. Highly recommended. 10/10

5/30/2023, 3:55:44 PM

Week 21, 2023 (Part 1) 165. Still (2023)(AppleTV+) A chronicle of one of the biggest stars of the 80s and 90s, watching Michael J. Fox grapple with Parkinsons is truly heart-breaking, but his infectious spirit and sense of humour remains intact, showing the world he is still very much the same person we fell in love with. 9/10 166. Quasi (2023)(Hulu) If you’ve enjoyed Broken Lizard’s previous offerings, you’d find some joy in this reimagining of the Quasimodo story, but outside of a few chuckles I found little to enjoy. 5/10 167. Queen Cleopatra (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) Blackwashing aside, this “documentary” eschews multiple perspectives for a very narrow and speculative contemporary view of who Cleopatra was. 3/10 168. Anna Nicole Smith: You Don't Know Me (2023)(Netflix) Similar with how Blonde chose to focus on the tragedies that made up Marilyn Munroe’s life, this documentary ignores the larger-than-life persona that defined Anna Nicole within the zeitgeist of entertainment. 5/10 169. Mulligan S1 (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) The concept where idiots are in charge of a post-apocalyptic government is ripe for fun hijinks but unfortunately most of the ideas don’t work or feel tired. 5/10 170. McGregor Forever (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) Connor McGregor is that once in a lifetime fighter that not only performs athletically but has a larger-than-life personality that transcends the sport. This documentary which covers the most challenging time of his career, delves into his personal life, giving us a glimpse of his softer side that is dedicated to creating a legacy for his children. 9/10 171. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) Far more emotional and nuanced than the Bridgeton series itself, Queen Charlotte isn’t just a great love story but expands its focus to highlight issues of duty, sacrifice, class and race. 8/10

5/30/2023, 3:54:33 PM

Week 18, 19 & 20, 2023 (Part 2) 159. To Catch a Killer (2023) Reminiscent of crime thrillers of the early 2000s, To Catch a Killer is a decent effort with strong performances and great visual flair but where it lacks is a strong narrative drive to keep us at the edge of our seats. 6/10 160. Fast X (2023) Far better than Fast 9, this new installment of this never say die franchise takes a slightly more grounded approach (as slight as this franchise allows that is) with the highlight being a truly fantastic and unhinged Jason Momoa as the lead antagonist. 7/10 161. The Mother (2023)(Netflix) If you’re looking for Jennifer Lopez to go beast mode in this you’ll be sorely disappointed as the action is as generic as a straight-to-video, bargain-bin film on Tubi. 5/10 162. How I Met Your Father S2 (2023) (TV Series, Hulu) As much as I try to give this show a shot, the jokes remain cringeworthy at best with none of the chemistry that made us love HIMYM. 4/10 163. The Five Devils (2022) A supernatural story grounded in devastating realism that unravels a family’s mystery in a way that’s novel and touching. A solid effort from French filmmaker, Léa Mysius. 8/10 164. The Artifice Girl (2023) One of the best movies I’ve seen on the ethical dilemmas surrounding AI and our near future. Proof that you don’t need a huge budget to create compelling sci-fi. Highly recommended. 10/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #tiff #romcom

Week 18, 19 & 20, 2023 (Part 1) 151. King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch S1 (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) Less drama orientated than other Netflix reality shows, King of Collectibles is a fun insight into the world of high-stakes collecting. 7/10 152. Working Moms S7 (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) If you’ve enjoyed the show over the years, from its great early seasons to the rather bumpy latter ones, Working Moms reaches a rather satisfying and expected end. 7/10 153. Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3 (2023) James Gunn’s final installment of this iteration of the Guardians is funny, heartbreaking, and utterly satisfying. 9/10 154. Rumble (2021) As far as kids are concerned, they will love this animated feature with giant wrestling monsters, but for adults, it’s going to be a harder sell. 6/10 155. Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank (2022) You’ll probably struggle to remember it after you’ve seen it but if you’re looking for something to watch with the family on a lazy Sunday you can’t really go wrong with this. 6/10 156. AKA (2023)(Netflix) AKA doesn’t try to reinvent the genre, in fact, it leans into it quite hard on established tropes at times but it’s all done with slickness and style, with well-choreographed action scenes and a compelling lead in Alban Lenoir. 8/10 157. Lost Bullet (2020)(Netflix) - 6.5/10 158. Lost Bullet 2 (2022)(Netflix) -9/10 If you enjoyed 90’s French action films from the Luc Besson era, Lost Bullet offers plenty to enjoy as it expands on the foundation set up in the first film and raises the stakes on every level in a fantastic sequel. Looking forward to the next installment of what could be a great action franchise. #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #tiff #romcom

Week 17, 2023 144. Guy Ritchie's The Covenant (2023) A solid war thriller with great performances from Jake Gyllenhaal and Dar Salim that highlights the sacrifices and bonds forged in the heat of battle. Guy Ritchie proves that he can do drama, and do drama well. 9/10 145. The Diplomat S1 (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) A terror attack, a newly appointed Ambassador with a husband that doesn’t play by the rules, and the potential for World War 3 are just some of the ingredients in this highly addictive series from the makers of Homeland. Recommended. 8/10 146. Sisu (2023) Sisu is as simple as its title, one guy versus an army of Nazis. It’s B-Grade fun at its best, with plenty of gore and laughs to be had. 8/10 147. Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile (2022)(Netflix) if you’re looking for something to watch with the kids, you can’t go wrong with Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile. It’s light, breezy, colorful, and has great music. 8/10 148. Longest Third Date (2023)(Netflix) While offering nothing much in terms of substance, this documentary is a pretty sweet chronicle of an unconventional romance during the Covid era. 7/10 149. Scream VI (2023) If you enjoyed the previous sequels and requels, the Scream franchise proves that it still has life in it with twists and turns, brutal kills, and a great cast. 8/10 150. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023) This is one hell of a bad film, it looks cheap, the acting is painful to watch and the kills are unimaginative. The only redeeming aspect is the opening animation that sets up the story is quite decent (probably where the entire budget went). Watch with a fun group of friends or skip it. 2/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #tiff #horror

Week 14, 2023 127. Kill Boksoon (2023)(Netflix) While it could benefit from tighter editing, Kill Booksoon offers enough violence to thrill action aficionados. 7/10 128. Lewis Capaldi: How I'm Feeling Now (2023)(Netflix) A raw portrait of a rising star faced with the challenges of dealing with the expectations of fame and suffering from Tourettes. 8/10 129. Murder Mystery 2 (2023)(Netflix) An Adam Sandler cash grab that not only tries too hard but irritates more than it entertains. 5/10 130. Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023) Made clearly with good intentions, Shazam 2 succeeds in what it sets out to do, but with the DCEU effectively dead, everything feels pointless. 7/10 131. Hello Tomorrow! S1 (2023)(TV Series, AppleTV+) With its gorgeous retro-futuristic visuals and an excellent cast (especially a stellar Bily Crudup), Hello Tomorrow! has everything it needs to soar but instead meanders for the most part. 6/10 132. The Pope's Exorcist (2023) Essentially the theme park ride of Exorcism movies, the movie eschews the scare factor for a superhero-like origin story with a fantastically hammy Russell Crowe at its centre. 7/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #tiff #romcom

4/11/2023, 4:31:26 PM

Week 13, 2023 119. Boston Strangler (2023)(Hulu) A compelling investigative drama that takes a lot of cues from David Fincher’s far superior Zodiac. It is however lacking in character motivation despite the strong performances. 7/10 120. Sri Asih (2022) The second installment is the Bumilangit Cinematic Universe, Sri Asih might be an improvement to Gundala, but the weak story and rather middling editing make for a sluggish superhero film. The highlight here is Pavita Pearce’s committed performance as the lead. 6/10 121. Ponniyin Selvan: I (2022)(Prime Video) Mani Ratnam’s epic is gorgeously framed and painstakingly put together. However, it is a film that demands your undivided attention as the various plotlines move at such a breakneck pace that you’d be lost otherwise. 8/10 122. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023) A surprisingly great time at the movies. Essentially Guardians of the Galaxy within a fantasy setting. 8/10 123. Inside Job S1 & 2 (2021)(TV Series, Netflix) A really funny animated satire with enough dysfunction and depth to rival Rick & Morty. Unfortunately, we won’t get a 3rd season. 9/10 124. Liaison S1 (2023)(TV Series, AppleTV+) Eva Green and Vincent Cassel are absolutely electric together, unfortunately, the rest of the show doesn’t live up to expectations. 6/10 125. Tetris (2023)(AppleTV+) Though it takes liberties with what actually transpired in favor for more excitement, Tetris is a pretty fun ride. 8/10 126. Champions (2023) Admittedly I haven’t seen the original film it is based on, but Champions on its own merits, offers plenty of laughs and heart. 8/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #tiff #romcom

4/6/2023, 5:17:28 AM

Week 12, 2023 111. Lelaki Harapan Dunia (2014) A darkly humourous satire of the dangers of superstitions and mob mentality and how they can tear a community apart, something that we can see today even in our own country as a whole… hopefully we don’t leave it abandoned or worse burning as was with the emblematic house in this film. 9/10 112. Next in Fashion S2 (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) A pretty huge upgrade from last season, with better production value and legit industry icons as guest judges. A decent binge if you like reality competition shows. 7/10 113. John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023) The John Wick movies have always escalated in terms of action scenes, and it is no less true with this fourth entry, a gorgeous symphony of style and violence that sets a new benchmark for action movies. 9/10 114. Shrinking S1 (2023)(TV Series, AppleTV+) One of the best new comedy shows this season with a great ensemble cast, featuring a surprisingly vulnerable Harrison Ford. 9/10 115. Daisy Jones and the Six (2023)(TV Series, Prime Video) The rise and fall of a band have been done before many many times, but a mesmerizing Riley Keough and fantastic soundtrack (check out the full album on Spotify) makes this a great watch. 7/10 116. Waco: American Apocalypse (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) A deeply unsettling recount of the Waco massacre in 1993, showcases the delusion of the Branch Davidians under David Koresh and the horrible mishandling by government authorities that led to the senseless deaths of so many people. 9/10 117. The Ritual Killer (2023) My mum wanted to watch this because Cole Houser is in it and she's a huge Yellowstone fan, so being a good son I endured this terrible bargain bin thriller. Morgan Freeman practically sleepwalks through his role as an African culture expert assisting a detective (Hauser) in solving a series of ritualistic murders. Everything is bad, from the script to the way it’s shot, edited, and even color graded. Atrocious. 2/10 118. Qodrat (2022) Essentially Muslim Constantine, Qodrat won’t really scare seasoned horror fans but its fast pace and solid visual style keep things interesting, even if the plot is rather weak. 6/10

3/28/2023, 4:09:36 AM

Week 11, 2023 103. Shadow and Bone S1-2 (2021)(TV Series, Netflix) As far as YA fantasy shows come, Shadow & Bone offers plenty of world-building and an impressive visual style that will keep you entertained even if the lore takes a bit of time to immerse yourself into if you’re not a fan of the books. 8/10 104. Magic Mike's Last Dance (2023) A lot less fun than the previous Magic Mike movies, this third outing is still decent if you don’t expect much beyond Channing Tatum’s charm and abs. 6/10 105. A Man Called Otto (2022) Tom Hanks is perfectly cast as a cynical and grumpy man that forms an indelible friendship with his neighbor. One of those life-affirming films that will make you laugh and cry. 8/10 106. Terbaik dari Langit (2014) Directed by Nik Amir Mustapha, Terbaik dari Langit is a heartwarming albeit predictable road trip film that highlights the bonds of friendship and acceptance, with some surprisingly gorgeous sci-fi visuals. 7/10 107. Servant S4 (2023)(TV Series, AppleTV+) After 4 seasons, the acclaimed horror series from M Night Shyamalan finally comes to an end although a little too abruptly for my liking. The season itself was a mixed bag with several weak episodes however the standout ones were really fantastic, especially the emotional penultimate episode. All in all, the series itself is a flawed but worthwhile journey thanks to the engaging story, great ensemble performances, excellent production design, and cinematography. 7/10 108. Project: High Council (2023)(TV Series, Astro) A huge improvement from his previous show, Project: Anchor SPM, Anwari Ashraf has managed to craft a truly great Malaysian high school drama that manages to engage, entertain, and thrill audiences. Definitely sets a new standard for local productions. 8/10 (continued in comments)

3/21/2023, 2:18:20 AM

Week 9, 2023 82. Missing (2023) A spiritual sequel to the excellent and innovative Searching, Missing offers enough twists and turns as well as strong performances to keep audiences invested even if the screen-only format stretches the boundaries of logic. 8/10 83. Imaginur (2023) Taking inspiration from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Father, Imaginur tells a wonderful, heartfelt story about love, forgiveness, moving on, and living in the moment. Highly recommended. 9/10 84. Perfect Match S1 (2023)(Netflix) Essentially, Netflix’s all-star reality mash-up, Perfect Match, fails to muster even the slightest bit of excitement as each contestant is already a veteran and knows how to manipulate the system. Trash TV that isn’t trashy enough. 4/10 85. Creed 3 (2023) Michael B. Jordan excels both behind and in front of the camera in this fantastic albeit formula-driven follow-up, which features another scene-stealing performance by Jonathan Majors. The solid pacing, anime-inspired fight sequences, and compelling drama is a testament that Creed can stand out from Rocky’s shadow as a franchise. 8/10 86. Alice in Borderland S1-S2 (2020-2022)(Netflix)(TV Series) Built around a similar format as Squid Games where people are pitted against each other in a series of sadistic games, however, Alice in Borderland has more in common with Battle Royale and Lord of the Flies in terms of narrative and characterization. Darkly comic, violent, and deeply emotional, a riveting watch from start to finish. 9/10 #cinemab72 #moviegeek #cinephile #movieaddict #movielover #filmcritic #moviecritic #filmreviews #creed3 #moviereviews #imaginur

3/6/2023, 11:57:30 AM

Week 7, 2023 69. The Romantics (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) Essentially celebrating one of India’s legendary film dynasties and its contribution to cinema. It is entertaining, funny, and at times moving, even as it skirts around tougher topics such as nepotism. 7/10 70. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023) Far from being the dumpster fire that was Thor: Love and Thunder, Quantumania lacks the fun character chemistry that made its first two entries thoroughly enjoyable, however, Jonathan Majors as Kang is definitely an interesting villain to explore in future MCU installments. 6.5/10 71. Infinity Pool (2023) Brandon Cronenberg certainly has his father’s affinity for body horror in this visceral assault on wealth and privilege, further elevated by excellent performances by Mia Goth and Alexander Skarsgård. 8/10 72. Project: Anchor SPM (2021)(TV Series, Astro) My initial thought was that this is a rip-off of Thailand’s Bad Genius, thankfully I was proven wrong. The copying scheme is the main driver of the series but creator Anwari Ashraf takes an original approach as to how things play out, as a result, what we are left with is a flawed but entertaining show about a batch of form 5 students centered around familiar themes of peer pressure, love, and friendship. 7/10 73. Sharper (2023)(AppleTV+) A fun ensemble thriller that manages to entertain even if you can guess how the twists play out. 7/10 #cinemab72 #moviegeek #cinephile #movieaddict #movielover #moviereviewer #filmcritic #moviecritic #filmreviews #moviereviews #filmreviews

2/20/2023, 8:04:23 AM

Week 6, 2023 61. Make My Day (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) Probably developed using an algorithm, this Netflix animated series lacks creativity with shoddy animation that looks like a Playstation 2 cutscene. 4/10 62. Coast Guard Malaysia: Ops Helang (2023) If you go in expecting an 80/90s style action film, you’d probably enjoy this despite its glaring technical flaws. Adlin Aman Ramlee is a particular stand-out as a scenery-chewing villain. 6/10 63. Thunivu (2023)(Netflix) Thunivu has all the hallmarks of a good heist, a mysterious protagonist with plenty of twists and turns, however, this Ajith-led film not only squanders its premise with terrible writing, predictability, and lackluster action scenes that are quite frankly lazy. A waste of time. 5/10 64. Titanic (1997) The first time I watched this in theaters I was 12 years old, and after 25 years years, Titanic has not lost its cinematic power. This newly remastered 4K transfer has to be the most pristine I’ve ever seen for a film made in the 90s. Absolutely worth the IMAX ticket. 9.5/10 65. You S4 Part 1 (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) I have to hand it to the creators, for a show that should have ended in its second season, You has managed to reinvent itself into a murder mystery that is anchored by an excellent performance by Penn Badgley. 7/10 66. Lockwood & Co. S1 (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) Lockwood & Co is a pretty good fantasy series that manages to transcend the usual YA trappings to offer something fun, exciting, and genuinely worthwhile. 8/10 67. Somebody I Used to Know (2023)(Prime Video) The only reason I gave this a go was to see a Community reunion between Allison Brie and Dani Pudi. Unfortunately outside of their genuine chemistry, I found everything else to be generic at best. 6/10 68. 8½ (1963) Arguably Federico Fellini's best work, 8½ has stood the test of time with a satirical visual feast that feels as contemporary and innovative as it was in 1963. 10/10 #cinemab72 #moviegeek #cinephile #movieaddict #movielover #moviereviewer #filmcritic #moviecritic #filmreviews #moviereviews #filmreview

2/13/2023, 9:56:56 AM

Week 5, 2023 (Part 2) 54. To Leslie (2022) Featuring an incredible performance by Andrea Riseborough, To Leslie tackles the devastating effects of addiction with a great deal of love and humanity. 9/10 55. Plane (2023) Plane offers plenty of thrills within its limited plot, elevated by effective direction as well as a solid turn from Gerard Butler. If you’ve missed 90’s style action films you can’t go wrong with this. 7/10 56. Superstore S1-6 (2015-2021)(TV Series, Hulu/Netflix) I’m glad that I gave Superstore a second chance after a rather mediocre first season, as it really does find its voice and takes advantage of its great cast from its second season onwards. Arguably one of the best workplace comedies of all time. 8/10 57. Cunk on Earth S1 (2023)(TV Series, Netflix) One of the funniest shows you can come across on Netflix, Cunk on Earth is a great mockumentary that elicits laughs and might teach you a thing or two. 9/10 58. Viking Wolf (2022)(Netflix) Despite the epic title, Viking Wolf borrows heavily from far superior films like An American Werewolf in London and Ginger Snaps and offers very little in terms of genuine excitement. 5/10 59. Pamela, a Love Story (2023)(Netflix) An honest and intimate portrait of a woman that lived her life very much in the public eye. Deeply moving and raw. 8/10 60. Jung_E (2023)(Netflix) Jung_E has many grand ideas about the nature of Artificial Intelligence but fails to properly execute them, which is quite disappointing as the Ghost in the Shell inspired visuals are actually quite great. 5/10 #cinemab72 #moviegeek #cinephile #movieaddict #movielover #moviereviewer #filmcritic #moviecritic #filmreviews #moviereviews #filmreview

2/8/2023, 3:23:48 AM

Week 3, 2023 23. M3GAN (2022) M3GAN is entertaining for the most part but is hampered by its by the numbers approach that telegraphs everything to the viewer. Severely lacking in originality and creativity. 6/10 24. The Rehearsal S1 (2022)(TV Series, HBO Max) Absurdist humour at its finest, Nathan Fielder manages to make you see the brilliance in his extreme and often times uncomfortable methods that leave us with some fantastic insights into the human condition. 9/10 25. Hunters S2 (2023)(TV Series, Prime Video) While it doesn’t really reach the heights of its previous season, Hunters manages to end on its own terms in a way that is both entertaining and satisfying. My major gripe is the ham-fisted way in which Al Pacino is reintegrated into the story without really offering anything new. 7/10 26. New Amsterdam S5 (2022)(TV Series, Peacock) Watching the final season of this show is like putting down an old family pet, you loved it but due its declining health, death was inevitable and ultimately necessary. I will always hold the first two seasons as the gold standard for medical dramas after ER. 6/10 27. Mentega Terbang (2023)(Viu) I admire the intention behind Mentega Terbang in asking big questions about life, death and religion. I even admire the performances put in by the cast. However, the film itself is rudimentary at best in terms of its messaging. Good effort that could have been great. 6/10 28. Rick and Morty S6 (2022)(TV Series, Adult Swim) Expanding on the hijinks of previous seasons, Rick and Morty manages to squeeze in some character growth in between all the fun banter and meta humour. 9/10 29. Chucky S1 & S2 (2021)(TV Series, SyFy) Chucky is a lot of fun for fans of the original franchise, and benefits from its hyper self awareness, fantastic gore and the return of Brad Dourif as Chucky. 8/10 30. Dave S1 & S2 (2021)(TV Series, Hulu) Despite the abundance of dick jokes and self depreciating humour, Dave surprisingly has a lot to say about self discovery, friendship and personal growth. Highly recommended. 9/10 #cinemab72 #moviecritic #moviereview #movies #movie #filmcritic #moviereviews #film #filmreview #cinephile #cinema

Week 2, 2023 15. Ashfall (2019) Utilising every possible cliche within the disaster genre with the added spice of a geopolitical thriller, Ashfall manages to sustain interest thanks to its effective use of special effects. 6/10 16. The Sex Lives of College Girls S2 (2022)(TV Series, HBO Max) A solid follow up to last season that further develops on the great chemistry of its cast members. Recommended. 8/10 17. Stealing Raden Salleh (2022)(Netflix) A fantastic heist film that manages to keep things fun, fresh and exciting all while working within the genre conventions we know and love. 8/10 18. The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker (2023)(Netflix) A great exploration of the price of internet fame and who we choose to idolise. 8/10 19. The English (2022)(TV Series, Prime Video) Beautifully framed with sterling performances by Emily Blunt and Chaske Spencer, The English juxtaposes the stark brutality of the Wild West with the tenderness of human connection. 8.5/10 20. Argentina,1985 (2022)(Prime Video) A courtroom drama that deftly balances the heavy subject matter of human rights violations with empathy and surprising levity. Highly recommended. 9.5/10 21. Apollo 10 1⁄2: A Space Age Childhood (2022)(Netflix) Richard Linklater’s return to rotoscope animation is a beautiful showcase that blends fantasy as well as shedding light on growing up in the 60s. 9/10 22. Tulsa King S1 (2022)(TV Series, Paramount+) While the premise is far from fresh, Stallone as an old school mobster kicking ass and taking names manages to keep things riveting to watch. Another winner by Taylor Sheridan. 8/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #2023 #2023movies

1/16/2023, 2:18:20 AM

Week 1, 2023 (Part 2) 8. The Pale Blue Eye (2023)(Netflix) Beautifully framed with a fantastic central performance in Christian Bale, The Pale Blue Eye is an intriguing watch but is slightly hampered by its pacing and overall unravelling of the mystery itself. 8/10 9. Welcome to Chippendales (2022)(TV Series, Hulu) A glossy retelling of the scandals behind the Chippendales brand, it is however an oversimplification of what actually transpired, so further reading or viewing will be necessary to really give you the full story behind what actually happened. 6.5/10 10. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) More than a decade after the first film, Puss in Boots is a truly great adventure for the whole family. Highly recommended. 9/10 11. Reboot S1(2022)(TV Series, Hulu) Reboot has a great cast and an interesting premise in its hands, the jokes unfortunately aren’t that funny. 6/10 12. The Immaculate Room (2022) The premise isn’t original to begin with but there’s potential for solid character exploration, however the film decides to focus on rather superfluous issues stemming from insecurity rather than anything deeper. 5.5/10 13. House of Darkness (2022) Supposedly a retelling of Dracula from the female perspective, House of Darkness stretches its rather thin plot to the point of being laborious. 5.5/10 14. Random Acts of Violence (2019) Random Acts of Violence definitely delivers on the gore aspect, however Jay Baruchel’s decision to take an almost too serious approach doesn’t match with the films grindhouse aesthetics. 6/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #2023 #2023movies

1/10/2023, 2:55:37 AM

Week 1, 2023 (Part 1) 1. Slow Horses S2 (2022)(TV Series, AppleTV+) Slow Horses’ sophomore season offers plenty of intrigue, twists and Gary Oldman one liners to make it a riot. Season 3 can’t come soon enough. 9/10 2. White Noise (2022)(Netflix) Far from Noah Baumbach’s best work, White Noise does have some interesting things to say if you enjoy absurdist black humour. 8/10 3. You Won't Be Alone (2022) You Wont Be Alone is an atmospheric folk horror film that offers a fresh and unique perspective on witches. A confident first feature from Goran Stolevski. 9/10 4. American Gigolo S1 (2022)(TV Series, Showtime) Despite the excellent pedigree both in-front and behind the camera, American Gigolo fails to offer to anything worthwhile and completely wastes excellent performances from Jon Bernthal and Rosie O'Donnell. 6/10 5. Kaleidoscope (2022)(TV Series, Netflix) When the novelty of the fact there's no set order in order to watch the episodes wares off, Kaleidoscope is basically a collection of heist cliches that rarely excite. 5/10 6. Tell Me Lies S1 (2022)(TV Series, Hulu) An exploration of a toxic first romance, Tell Me Lies is a guilty pleasure that’s an easy binge. 7/10 7. Fleishman Is in Trouble (2022)(TV Series, Hulu) When I first read its premise, where a 40-something white guy is faced with an existential crisis, I wasn’t exactly keen to catch it but I’m glad I did. Fleishman Is in Trouble offers a deeply insightful look into the expectations of youth and the harsh realities of growing up and how it’s okay to start again. The final two episodes are especially fantastic. 8/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #2023 #2023movies

Week 50, 51 & 52, 2022 (Part 3) 442. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022)(Netflix) Bringing back crowd favourite Benoit Blanc in a new mystery, Rian Johnson manages to round up an excellent ensemble cast while crafting an entertaining murder mystery, even though the mystery itself is rather predictable. 8/10 443. Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan S3 (2022)(TV Series, Prime Video) In its third season, Jack Ryan feels much more assured in what it is, relying on John Krasinski’s natural charm and breakneck pacing to carry the average political thriller story that we’ve seen many times before. 7/10 444. Armageddon Time (2022) Acclaimed filmmaker James Gray offers an intimate portrait of a teenage boy experiencing racism and prejudice from a position of privilege. 8/10 445. The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)(TV Series, Netflix) A cash grab if I ever saw one, this four part series is absolutely devoid of anything original and a waste of talent. 3/10 446. Triangle of Sadness (2022) Following in the footsteps of his satirical black comedies, Force Majeure and The Square,  Ruben Östlund's Triangle of Sadness offers funny and astute observations on social inequality. 8/10 447. Tár (2022)) Cate Blanchett is exquisite in the title role of a flawed genius driven by power and manipulation but remains sympathetic at its core. 9/10 448. Amsterdam (2022) A great cast wasted on a convoluted plot, Amsterdam could have been far better if it had more focus. 5/10 449. Avenue 5 S2 (2022) (TV Series, HBO Max) Picking up directly where season 2 left off, this sci-fi comedy remains as hilarious, manic and absurd as we follow its self absorbed characters, lead by an excellent Hugh Laurie. 8/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #tiff #romcom

Week 50, 51 & 52, 2022 (Part 2) 434. Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022)(Netflix) A darker and more mature adaptation of this classic fairy tale, del Toro has managed to bring his own unique perspective and visual flair to keep things fresh, interesting and entertaining. 9/10 435. Banshees of Innesherin (2022)(HBO Max) A parable of the futility of war through the prism of a squabble between friends that escalates to irreparable heights. Martin McDonagh has crafted a beautiful and heartbreaking masterpiece. 10/10 436. The Big 4 (2022)(Netflix) Featuring Timo Tjahjanto’s signature extreme violence with an eclectic mix of quirky characters and bonkers humour, The Big 4 is a riot and further proof that Indonesian cinema has arrived. 8/10 437. Aftersun (2022) The difference between how we see our parents and who they really are is explored through the viewpoint of a woman looking at her past, specifically a holiday with father. Melancholic and deeply affecting. 9/10 438. The Fabelmans (2022) Steven Spielberg explores his childhood in this wonderful tribute to family and the power of cinema. 9/10 439. See How They Run (2022) Despite its rather predictable reveal, See How They Run is a fun whodunnit thanks to its delightful cast. 7/10 440. Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) The film itself may lack depth on the story department, but the experience itself (especially on IMAX 3D) is worthy of multiple trips to the cinema. 8/10 441. The Volcano: Rescue From Whakaari (2022)(Netflix) Capturing the horror and aftermath of a volcanic eruption on a New Zealand island, this Netflix documentary is an effective showcase of the awesome and terrifying power of Mother Nature. 8/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #tiff #romcom

Week 50, 51 & 52, 2022 (Part 1) 426. The Wonder (2022)(Netflix) Florence Pugh further cements herself as one of Hollywood’s best leading ladies in this atmospheric period drama. 8/10 427. School of Good and Evil (2022)(Netflix) Despite a solid cast and production design, the film suffers from feeling like a generic teen fantasy show that is way too lengthy. 6/10 428. Emancipation (2022)(AppleTV+) Essentially a chase film that clumsily trancends into a war movie, Will Smith’s return to the spotlight is a misfire. 12 Years a Slave this is not. 6/10 429. She Said (2022) Taking cues from other journalistic dramas such as Spotlight and All the President’s Men, She Said is a solid dramatisation of courages journalist that broke the Weinstein saga. 8/10 430. All is Quiet on the Western Front (2022)(Netflix) A powerful drama on the futility of war and the loss of innocence, this retelling more than justifies itself with its stunning visuals, impeccable direction and gut-wrenching performances. 9/10 431. Violent Night (2022) While I wished the concept could have been pushed further, Violent Night is a fun and gory action flick carried by a fantastic David Harbour as Santa Clause. 7/10 432. The White Lotus S2 (2022)(TV Series, HBO Max) Though in my opinion not as sharp as season 1, The White Lotus remains compelling as it is entertaining. 9/10 433. Lady Chatterley's Lover (2022)(Netflix) A passionate retelling of a classic love affair that works thanks to its strong direction and great chemistry of its leads. 8/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #tiff #romcom

Week 46 - 49, 2022 (Part 2) 418. Poochandi (2022)(Netflix) Poochandi may lack in terms of its execution (mostly due to budget constraints), but I was was pleasantly surprised by how layered this Malaysian horror film was. Please give this a shot on Netflix. 8/10 419. Pepsi, Where's My Jet? (2022)(TV Series, Netflix) A fun documentary about how a couple of friends decided to take a million dollar company to task based a ridiculous TV ad offer. 8/10 420. Wednesday S1 (2022)(TV Series, Netflix) Jenna Ortega’s engaging performance elevates this rather average school based murder mystery that feels like a budget Hogwarts. 6/10 421. Warriors of the Future (2022)(Netflix) Light on plot and substance while borrowing heavily from far superior sci-fi films, Warriors of the Future excels in the action department, thanks to impressive special effects and solid pacing. 6.5/10 422. Troll (2022)(Netflix) This Norwegian answer to King Kong and Godzilla is a simple and well executed adventure that will entertain if you don’t mind the recycled plot. 7/10 423. Spilt Gravy on Rice (2022)(Netflix) An interesting and rather novel take on the bonds of family, carried by Rahim Razali’s masterful performance as bapak. Director Zahim Albakri does an admirable job juggling the various plot lines but the film sometimes can’t seem to shake off its stage play roots. 7/10 424. The Menu (2022) A rather interesting commentary on social equality, taste and pretentiousness that is greatly elevated by Ralph Fiennes and Anya Taylor Joy’s pitch perfect performances. 8/10 425. The Swimmers (2022)(Netflix) A little heavy handed on the messaging while also being overlong, The Swimmers is still a solid migrant story about overcoming adversity to achieve the impossible. 7/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review

12/8/2022, 2:36:05 PM

Week 46 - 49, 2022 (Part 1) 410. Downton Abbey: The Motion Picture (2019) 411. Downton Abbey: A New Era (2022) Essentially extended episodes, The Downton movies feel like a friendly embrace with the welcome return of familiar faces, delightful character moments as well as providing much needed closure. 9/10 412. Bones and All (2022) Bones and All mostly succeeds thanks to the fantastic chemistry of its leads, played by Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet, as well as creepy turns from the ever reliable Mark Rylance and Michael Stuhlbarg, but where it falters is its overtly simplistic view of young love and what it means to be a cannibal. 7/10 413. Stutz (2022)(Netflix) Jonah Hill delivers a stunning tribute to his long time psychiatrist, through an honest and truly vulnerable conversation on mental health. Highly recommended. 9.5/10 414. The Crown S5 (2022)(TV Series, Netflix) The latest season feels slightly tired compared to previous seasons but the performances remain the highlight. Hoping the upcoming final season delivers on the inevitable heartbreak. 7/10 415. The Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special (2022) (Disney+) A fun and joyful Christmas excursion that absolutely delivers on the laughs and heart that make GOTG special. 8/10 416. Star Wars: Andor S1 (2022)(TV Series, Disney+) Tony Gilroy’s prequel series to Rogue One was not a show anyone asked for but definitely a show that the Star Wars franchise needs right now. Telling a much more grounded story with fantastic acting and impressive visuals. Looking forward to season 2. 9.5/10 417. Barbarian Invasion (2022) Tan Chun Mui’s meta action drama is an ambitious but flawed film about a woman finding her place in the world. To be honest the tonal shift midway through the film didn’t really work for me but overall I admire the craft and effort put in. Recommended. 7/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies

Week 44 & 45, 2022 (Part 2) 405. Black Adam (2022) DC goes back to basics in this straight forward superhero film that trades in plot for action. Pierce Brosnan is the stand out for me as Doctor Fate. 6/10 406. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) Ryan Coogler has managed to craft an emotionally satisfying story that manages to pay tribute to the legacy of Chadwick Boseman while still telling a compelling story, carried by several superb performances and a kick ass soundtrack. Where it misses the mark however is shoehorning Riri Williams to launch her TV series and the lacklustre action sequences. 7.5/10 407. Atlanta S4 (2022)(TV Series, Hulu) Danny Glover ends this surrealistic comedy on a high note, further cementing himself as an artistic genius. 10/10 408. Downton Abbey S1-6 (2010-2015)(TV Series, BritBox) Melodrama at its finest, Downton Abbey transcends its soap opera premise with excellent writing and a truly magnificent ensemble cast. 8/10 409. FIFA Uncovered (2022)(TV Series, Netflix) Gripping and deeply insightful chronicle of the corrupt practices that has forever tarnished football as a sport. 8/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #tiff #romcom

Week 44 & 45, 2022 (Part 1) 399. The Watcher S1 (2022)(TV Series, Netflix) Ryan Murphy rarely misses but this suburban horror tale based on a true story adds too may campy elements that it fails to terrify. I suggest reading the article on the actual case instead, truly the stuff of nightmares. 5/10 400. The Woman King (2022) Viola Davis transforms into an action hero in this crowd pleasing good old fashioned epic. 8/10 401. Enola Holmes 2 Millie Bobby Brown’s charm carries this rather convoluted mystery that manages to sustain attention throughout its lengthy runtime. 7/10 402. Pearl (2022) Mia Goth is a revelation in this retro horror film that boasts various influences from classics. Looking forward to the culmination of Ti West’s trilogy. 9/10 403. Inside Man (2022)(TV Series, Netflix) If you enjoy twisty thrillers, look no further. Stanley Tucci and David Tennant are fantastic in this, even if the resolution was pretty predictable. 7/10 404. Terrifier 2 (2022) Surpassing the original in every way, gore hounds are gonna have a lot of fun with this. 8/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #tiff #romcom

Week 41, 42 & 43, 2022 (Part 2) 391. House of the Dragon S1(2022))(TV Series, HBO Max) Filled with fantastic performances, excellent dialogue and great moments that defined the early seasons of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon more than establishes itself as the fantasy series to beat this season. 9.5/10 392. Gaming Wall St (2021)(HBO Max) Similar to the Big Short, Gaming Wall Street tells the exciting real life story of David vs Goliath within the financial markets during the 2021 GameStop stock chaos. 8/10 393. Don't Worry Darling (2022) Don’t Worry Darling had potential with its impeccable visuals and an incredible leading performance by Florence Pugh, unfortunately the rest of the film suffers from predictability and lacklustre reveals. 6/10 394. Laal Singh Chaddha (2022)(Netflix) A retelling of Forrest Gump with a fresh cultural perspective, Laal Singh Chaddha is a crowd pleasing film. Though I feel that Aamir Khan tries a little too hard in the title role that it often borders on parody. 6/10 395. She-Hulk Attorney at Law (2022)(TV Series, Disney+) She-Hulk may get the premise and casting right for the most part, but the fundamental issue I have with the show is that every joke and exchange feels like the first draft. It is serviceable entertainment at best and cringe inducing (the finale especially) at its worst. 5/10 396. Barbarian (2022) Barbarian builds tension really well in the first half but the third act suffers from an over-reliance on typical horror tropes. 6/10 397. Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities S1 (2022)(TV Series, Netflix) As with most anthologies there are hits and misses, overall this collection is a solid showcase of different horror stories in various settings. Highlights are The Autopsy, Dreams in the Witch House and The Murmuring. 8/10 398. Killer Sally (2022) (TV Series, Netflix) Exploring the shocking bodybuilder-on-bodybuilder murder, in which Sally McNeil shot and killed her abusive husband Ray with a shotgun to the face. The lurid details of their relationship paints a vicious cycle of violence and abuse that destroyed the both their and their children's lives. 8/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies

Week 41, 42 & 43, 2022 (Part 1) 383. The Midnight Club S1 (2022)(TV Series, Netflix) It may not be Mike Flanagan at his best, The Midnight Club still scores as a heartfelt teen horror series. 7.5/10 384. The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power S1 (2022)(TV Series, Prime Video) Though it may boast excellent visual effects and decent production design, Amazon’s mega budgeted streaming gamble fails to capture the emotional depth and high quality storytelling that made the original trilogy classics. 5/10 385. See S3 (2022)(TV Series, Apple TV+) Severely underrated during its run, See ends on a solid note, bringing its characters to a satisfying and epic conclusion. 8/10 386. Welcome to Wrexham S1 (2022)(TV Series, Hulu) The unbelievable story of two Hollywood actors that bought a Welsh football team at the brink of bankruptcy. Will have you laughing and cheering throughout. 9.5/10 387. Halloween Ends (2022) David Gordon Green tries to be ambitious in the finale of this reboot trilogy by trying to focus on the legacy of hate but his decision to sideline Laurie and Michael in this is both baffling and disappointing. 6/10 388. Clerks 3 (2022) Clerks 3 is a much more safer film that its predecessors, but I didn’t really mind as spending time with the guys at the Quick Stop felt like hanging out with old friends. I didn’t expect to cry watching this. 7/10 389. Last Looks (2022) Charlie Hunnam leads this decently entertaining whodunnit but it is Mel Gibson that steals the show as a has-been alcoholic TV actor accused of murder. 7/10 390. Broker (2022) From the brilliant director of Shoplifters, Hirokazu Koreeda, Broker deftly balances difficult issues such as child trafficking with humanity, sentimentality and humour. 9.5/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #tiff #romcom

11/4/2022, 3:44:53 AM

Week 39 & 40, 2022 (Part 2) 378. Hellraiser (2022)(Hulu) David Druckner manages to unlock the puzzle of making a decent Hellraiser film since the original trilogy. Boasting captivating character designs and a truly sympathetic protagonist, it does however lack in the scare factor. 7/10 379. Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022) Absolutely terrible in every way possible, it is best that the franchise be left for dead. A complete waste of time. 2/10 380. Smile (2022) An unsettling gimmick in the form of a creepy smile and an excellent central performance by Sosie Bacon elevate this decent horror flick. 7/10 381. My Best Friend's Exorcism (2022)(Prime Video) A rather basic teen horror flick that had the potential to be way better. 5/10 382. Warewolf by Night (2022)(Disney+) An excellent directorial debut for composer Michael Giacchino that delivers on its old school horror premise with genuine flair. 8/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #tiff #romcom

Week 39 & 40, 2022 (Part 1) 373. Atlanta S1-S3 (2016—2021) Funny, absurd and thought provoking, Atlanta is an excellent showcase for the multitalented Donald Glover. 9/10 374. Athena (2022)(Netflix) Beautiful in its chaos, music video director Romain Gavras has managed to craft an immersive film that places in you in the trenches with its characters. Highly recommended. 9/10 375. Blonde (2022)(Netflix) Ana de Armas delivers a transformative performance as Marilyn Monroe, however the film itself overindulges in showcasing her suffering without any other facets that made her the icon she is. 6/10 376. Home Economics S1-S2 (2021-2022)(TV Series, Hulu) A family friendly comedy that works mainly because of the chemistry of its cast members. 7/10 377. Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022) With a firm target on younger viewers, Bodies Bodies Bodies is a funny and surprisingly well written whodunnit. 8/10 #cinemab72 #cinema #movie #movies #tv #drama #action #review #films #reviews #trailer #thriller #amazonprime #movienight #moviescenes #cinephile #netflixmovies #trivia #bluray #primevideo #soundtrack #moviequotes #dvd #movietime #bluraycollection #movielover #suspense #amazonprimevideo #tiff #romcom

10/11/2022, 8:07:50 AM

Week 38, 2022 368. Industry S2 (2022)(TV Series, HBO Max) After a solid first season, this office drama surrounding the financial market has an impressive sophomore season with larger stakes, interesting new characters and sharp dialogue. 8/10 369. Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (2022)(TV Series, Netflix) Ryan Murphy scores again with this excellent dissection of deranged serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. The series not only covers the man himself but the victims, families and the societal impact his murders has had. Highly recommended. 9/10 370. Resurrection (2022)(Shudder) Rebecca Hall delivers a powerhouse performance in this surreal psychothriller, where a woman has to grapple with the horrors of parenthood while being terrorised by her past. 8/10 371. Speak No Evil (2022)(Shudder) A deeply disturbing horror film that is a scathing social commentary on our acceptance of minor transgressions in the name of politeness. Will definitely ruin your day in a good way. Recommended. 9/10 372. Lou (2022)(Netflix) Allison Janney is one of those actresses that can easily transform herself into anything and I was actually looking forward to seeing her play a badass in this. Unfortunately outside of the decent cinematography and dependable support from Jurnee Smollett, the film itself is rather forgettable. 6/10 #cinemab72 #moviecritic #moviereview #movies #movie #filmcritic #moviereviews #film #filmreview #cinephile #cinema #movielover #moviebuff #movienight #films #filmreviews #review #movieaddict

Week 37, 2022 358. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia S1-S15 (2005-2021)(TV Series, Hulu) Probably one of the most toxic comedies on TV today. Blisteringly funny and highly rewatchable. 9/10 359. What We Do in the Shadows S4 (2022)(TV Series, Hulu) Sticking to its winning formula from previous seasons, it remains just as funny and bingeable. 8/10 360. American Horror Stories S2 (2022)(TV Series, Hulu) Season 2 of this anthology series is a step down in quality with only two standout stories, a period piece about witches and a story about living dolls, while the rest offer nothing new. 5/10 361. Emily the Criminal (2022) Aubrey Plaza is fantastic in this crime thriller about a desperate woman catching a break through nefarious means. Highly recommended. 8/10 362. The Invitation (2022) The Invitation is essentially Get Out with vampires, minus the intelligence, humour and excitement. By the time the film starts to get going it just ends. 5/10 363. Five Days Days at Memorial (2022)(TV Series, AppleTV+) A harrowing recount of what happened to the staff and patients at Memorial Hospital during Hurricane Katrina. Crafted with great care as it raises ethical questions without taking sides. 9/10 364. Confess, Fletch (2022) Jon Hamm is absolutely charming in this entertaining reboot, that does away with the whacky humour of the original. A fun old school whodunnit. 8/10 365. Abbot Elementary S1 (2022)(TV Series, Hulu) A spiritual cousin to Parks and Recreation, Abbot Elementary’s wholesome brand of comedy is elevated by a great cast of characters. 7/10 366. Do Revenge (2022)(Netflix) A teen reimagining of Hitchcock’s Strangers on a Train with a dose of Cruel Intentions and Mean Girls. Maya Hawke and Camilla Mendes are the main reason to give this film a go. 7/10 367. Emergency (2022)(Prime Video) A comedy thriller that successfully blends college hijinks with deeply insightful social commentary on racial profiling. The final 15 minutes literally had me on the edge of my seat. Highly recommended. 9/10 #cinemab72 #moviecritic #moviereview #movies #movie #filmcritic #moviereviews #film #filmreview #cinephile #cinema #movielover

9/20/2022, 4:26:39 AM

Week 35 & 36, 2022 (Part 2) 352. Devil in Ohio (2022)(TV Series, Netflix) Emily Deschanel’s satanic cult thriller may not offer anything new but is a sufficiently entertaining binge. 6/10 353. Mythic Quest S1-S2 (2022)(TV Series, AppleTV+) Filling up the gap left by Silicon Valley and Community, Mythic Quest is a great ensemble comedy with several truly poignant episodes peppered throughout. 9/10 354. Beast (2022) Idris Elba carries this 90’s style man versus beast story, that excels in building genuine tension with effective use of stitched long takes. However, the obvious CGI lion and an incessantly annoying teen character take me out of the film. 6/10 355. Three Thousand Years of Longing (2022) George Miller’s ambitious but flawed fantasy is a glorious visual marvel with a strong beating heart. While they may lack romantic chemistry, Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton deliver stand out performances as always. 7/10 356. Where the Crawdads Sing (2022) Daisy Edgar Jones is excellent in this atmospheric mystery that features gorgeous cinematography and production design. It’s unfortunate that it unravels slightly in the third act. 6.5/10 357. Pinocchio (2022)(Disney+) Disney’s quest of unnecessary remakes continues with this soulless reteling of a beloved classic. It’s honestly surprising that the collective talents of Tom Hanks and Robert Zemeckis could produce something this unremarkable. 5/10 #cinemab72 #moviecritic #moviereview #movies #movie #filmcritic #moviereviews #film #filmreview #cinephile #cinema #movielover #moviebuff #movienight #films #filmreviews #review #movieaddict

Week 34, 2022 (Part 1) 332. Orphan: First Kill (2022)(Paramount+) An unnecessary sequel that’s campy and self aware enough to be entertaining if you have very low expectations. 6/10 333. Untold: Crime and Penalties (2022)(Netflix) An intersection of sports and crime, this documentary follows the rise and fall the Danbury Trashers, known as the bad boys of ice hockey. A team feared by opponents and beloved by the community but unfortunately harbours dealings with the mafia. Entertaining, surprisingly funny and insightful. 8/10 334. Untold: The Rise and Fall of AND1 (2022)(Netflix) One of the biggest brands during the streetball era of the early 00s, AND1 reached the pinnacle being a viable competitor to Nike before self imploding. 8/10 335. All or Nothing: Arsenal (2022)(TV Series, Prime Video) Going behind the scenes of Arsenal’s 2021/22 season, it is a showcase of Mikel Arteta’s philosophy, grit, sheer determination in building a competitive team. Highly recommended. 9/10 336. Nope (2022) Jordan Peele further cements his position as an iconic filmmaker in this excellent sci-fi horror western that will do for skies what Jaws did for the water. 9/10 337. The Figo Affair: The Transfer that Changed Football (2022)(Netflix) Delve into the mechanisations of one of the most shocking transfers in football history. A tale of a real life Judas or an elaborate misunderstanding? 9/10 338. Vengeance (2022) B.J. Novak writes and directs this unconventional murder mystery that plays out as dark comedy about grief, family and finding yourself. 8/10 #cinemab72 #moviecritic #moviereview #movies #movie #filmcritic #moviereviews #film #filmreview #cinephile #cinema #movielover #moviebuff #movienight #films #filmreviews #review #movieaddict
