I remember liking this movie a lot more, I feel different about it today. Yes, we got some backstory with it being a prequel, but the scares didn't feel authentic like the first film. Laapataa ladies IMDb- 8.4/10 Genre- Comdey/Drama The fact is i kind of anticipated this movie was going to amuse me. And it definitely did. I really love to watch this kind of meaningful movie nowadays. If you are looking for a simple yet enjoyable movie then this is the movie u should go for. Every actors and actresses did their best. The whole story was perfectly written and directed. Several lines and scenes touched my heart. The background musics were great. The movie has several aspects like - If we women don’t value us properly, how could we expect others to do that for us. We women know exactly how to hold a fort with harmony or burn it to the ground with envy. The relationship between a daughter in law and a mother in law is very sensitive and if we know how to manage that precious relationship perfectly we can make every home a better place to live. There's one thing that still bothers me a lot that some of our parents still think our daughters would be happy if they can marry a rich guy. How can money define what a person truly is! Peace doesn’t come with money, A happy married life doesn’t come from money. I really loved the lessons that this movie hold. Infested (France, 2024) ❤️❤️❤️❤️🖤 A bug collector purchases a mysterious foreign spider that rapidly reproduces and takes over his apartment complex. “We’ll die in here!” This was a fun creepy-crawly creature-feature! Here’s why I loved it. ❤️ I’m a spider lover, so the biggest challenge this film faced in my case was finding a way to get under my skin. Because the spiders weren’t ordinary (that’s all I’ll say without giving too much away) it succeeded! ❤️ Also as a spider lover, I was worried that I’d see a lot of ignorance-based spider hate in this film, but instead I saw the exact opposite! I love how they included a character who doesn’t kill animals and explained that spiders are mostly harmless. Too bad he was wrong in this case 😬 ❤️ I really liked the main character, and not just because he also sees the beauty in creatures most people find ugly. He was unique in other ways, like the little detail about him not swearing. ❤️ I liked the backstory behind the characters and their relationships to each other as well as the sense of community they built with other residents in the apartment building. It made for some gut-wrenching moments. 🖤 Some of the character drama ran long. Go into this expecting a war photography movie and you won't hate it so much. I appreciate @reginaparham1 for telling me what not to expect before I went into this one. I was able to enjoy the film a lot more than most people I've seen on here. With my expectations of a civil war movie, with a lot of explanation out of the way, I was able to open-mindedly dive into the story of war photographers. There is a lot of war, violence, and gore at times. But what I really found interesting was the morality struggle with the photographers. The job requires them to capture moments of death in real time, while others are fighting for their lives—I can see where that may he frowned upon. There's a certain coldness that they have to carry themselves with to carry out the job, and this film wrestles with the human emotions that come with it. She’s a Man Eater The story is of Art and Patrick, 2 childhood friends who play Tennis for years, they meet an upcoming star called Tashi who they both want to win over. With flashbacks and forward jumps, the overall story is Art recovering from injury and is going through a losing patch, Tashi gets him a small competition to boost his confidence only to find a familiar face competing. The movie is good, the overall story is good, a “love” story mixed with a come back story. The triangle between the three is very complicated as the two boys want her and she knows this. Love makes you do things you can’t explain. The music is bonkers hahahaha I think though as a movie, with the match scenes the music helped the tension, sometimes it wasn’t needed. Some cool camera work but it’s the acting that drives the movie. Though it doesn't recapture the authentic frights of the first film, I appreciated how they added to the story. More characters, a larger house, and new video cameras—unfortunately, less is more sometimes. Two people stuck in a haunting was a lot more terrifying than a full house. I can respect trying to go bigger in the sequel, but it was simplicity that made the first film so great. Does anyone agree with this? What the sequel did manage to accomplish was build an engaging story, end on a cliffhanger, and leave me wanting to know where it will be going. You’ll Never Find Me (Australia, 2024) ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ A girl shows up at an older man’s door looking for refuge from a storm, but there may be more behind the reason why she’s there. “No one tells you that fear and excitement are identical emotions.” If you’re a fan of slow burn psychological thrillers, I think you’ll love this one just as much as I did! Here’s why I couldn’t find fault with it. ❤️ They did a brilliant job building tension from the start, even though there was no explanation for it. Quite an impressive feat! ❤️ The entire film took place inside a small trailer and yet I wasn’t bored for a second. Another impressive feat. ❤️ I loved the back-and-forth between the characters. The dialogue was cultivated and captivating, and I was constantly questioning their motives and trying to figure out what was going on. ❤️ It had great cinematography and use of sound to turn an ordinary place into a horror scene. ❤️ What an ending! This aged so well👻 Does anybody agree? Revisiting this reminded me of how authentic of a haunting story it was. Unknown actors that had natural chemistry, no visuals of the demon(which would most-likely be the case), and a house that just looked like your average home—it wasn't scary-looking at all. Most houses aren't scary, so it makes this movie relatable to the average viewer—"Maybe my home can get demon-possessed as well." The relationship between the two main characters reminded me so much of me and my partner's; that's how honest this film felt to me. If this happened in our home, most of the character's actions and emotions would reflect our own. I'll probably second-guess any noise I hear in my house, this movie still had the ability to make me jump, or feel nervous, and I've seen this film so many times. The demon's roar while banging on the wall still gives me chills. I caught myself empathizing with the physical and mental breakdown of the characters, because this demon wouldn't let them have a decent night of sleep for 21 days. An immersive Movie ! The movie is about Jack Delroy who is a late night presenter in the 70s. After years of being the no.2 man in the business, his shows ratings started to fall hard, his last crack attempt to get the ratings back up comes on Halloween night when the guests are a medium, paranormal myth buster, and Dr June Ross Mitchell who has written a book about her experience with Lilly, apparently possessed by a demon, who is also coming on the show. What could go wrong ? The movie is so immersive, it’s shot like an actual late night episode that we are watching with black and white scenes showing the commercial breaks and what is happening back stage. The entire cast is terrific, but a reason for how real this felt for some time was three portrayal by David Dastmalchain who plays jack. When the cameras are rolling he is a charming and charismatic host, but behind the scenes you can feel his eagerness and pressure that he needs the show to go perfectly. The whole story is really good, the pacing is good, classed as a horror with I’m sure had 0 jumpscares which made me so happy. There is one scene of visual body horror I wasn’t expecting but it was good. The ending CGI but was the only thing I was kind of meh about in the whole movie, I would have liked if it stuck to the realness like the rest of the movie, besides that it’s great. An overall let down was the use of AI for the title cards, it really bothers me especially from A24, there was no need, let the artists make it, no need for AI. I wanted to like this movie a lot more, and I can't put my finger on what I felt was missing. It had its odd moments, maybe the story wasn't what I wanted it to be—but I never expect much of a plot when it comes to horror. Maybe I'm holding it to the standard of other Eli Roth films. REBEL MOON - PART 2: THE SCARGIVER Directed by: Zack Snyder Score: 5 First time watch Some directors can be summarized in a few words, and if you ask me that for Zack Snyder, I would say: Style over substance And sadly, that’s also the case for this part 2. I did liked the first one, and the promise that the movie gives, but sadly everything about this second one is just a let down. Sure, there are some cool action scenes, but this felt like a Wish version of Star Wars. That was also the case for part 1, but then it didn’t bother me as much. Looking back, for me this is the case with a lot of Snyder flicks, it always looks badass, and it’s full of characters that I want to learn more about, but we never get that. Abigail is the next vampire classic! THERE! I SAID IT🧛♀️ The more I reflect on what I saw, the more it sits very well with me. While watching it, I was surprised with how long it was taking for the violence to take place. From a bird's-eye-view, we were just getting well acquainted with the cast. I was never bored during the character building; either laughing outloud or feeling intrigued... I was along for the ride and invested in the mystery of these characters who didn't trust each other. The violence starts off mild, leaving me hopeful of some more off-the-wall gore—as the film progressed, it didn't disappoint. This movie got better with each passing second, upping the gore, the comedy, the disturbing visuals, and its theatrics. This movie has the coolest looking vampire teeth and their movements are a spectacle during the fight sequences. This little girl acted her ass off, I was so impressed with her. She has such a promising future, possessing the ability to be believable in facial expressions and tone of voice. A young talent she is indeed! Here’s why I liked it. ❤️ Abigail was a badass little girl right from the start! She was smart, manipulative, powerful, and monstrous, but with a little bit of humanity left. She made a great villain, and I must admit, I wasn’t rooting against her 😬 ❤️ It was a good ol’ fashioned bloodbath! From people exploding to a pool of dead bodies to a macabre dancing duo, this film really brought it with the horror elements. ❤️ The premise was really clever, and it had lots of twists and turns even though I knew the general idea of the plot. ❤️ The characters were more fleshed-out than a typical horror movie. I didn’t expect them to have such distinct personalities, and all of them were enjoyable in their own way. 🖤 I thought it lost some momentum toward the end, which not only dragged on but got a little too cornball. An alien in women's skin is luring men into her van and killing them. I always feel safe with A24, I can expect quality, and rarely end up disappointed. It was the same with Under The Skin. Scarlett Johansson plays the perfect extra terrestrial: emotionless at first, empty eyes, and searching like a predator shark. There is a lot of silence in the film, making it difficult to read the alien's thoughts, and feelings. The blackness of the character reminds me of the terminator. When it was time to manipulate potential male victims, I loved Johansson's ability to liven up with a false set of social skills. There was a great display of false empathy as well. Throughout the film, our lead alien crosses paths with decent and broken humans, gradually giving the alien human emotions of its own. The ending had a crazy moment of irony; the predator becomes the hunted—and it's by the type of victim the alien would have originally singled out. This movie makes me wonder if human emotions make us weak because without them... the extra terrestrial never had to be a victim. Cocaine Crabs from Outer Space (USA, 2022) ❤️❤️❤️❤️🖤 Two space crabs are given cocaine during a mission on Earth and go on a killing spree. “Oops, I forgot to tell them not to do any cocaine while they’re on Earth. I hope that won’t come back to pinch me.” To clarify, I rated this movie purely within the context of its category of frivolous low-budget horror comedy films. I thought it was an outrageously good time, and here’s why. ❤️ It was a great example of dumb horror humor done brilliantly well. From intentionally fake-looking blood and gore to silly crab puns, this film had me laughing so loud I wouldn’t be surprised if I had disturbed my neighbors 😜 ❤️ I loved the visual and sound effects, like random animation, POV crab attacks, and especially the crab noises 😂 I loved the sound they made as they talked and the little pitter-patters of their footsteps. ❤️ The acting was awful at times, but that wasn’t a bad thing because it just made it funnier. ❤️ The plot was great and was actually pretty complex for this type of film. Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor (USA, 2023) ❤️❤️❤️❤️🖤 Three people disappear while investigating the haunted site of an unsolved murder case. Their disturbing footage is found. “They’re in your room now.” This was a spooky good time that came close to being as good as the first Hell House film! Here’s why I loved it. ❤️ Ghost movies, if done right, scare the bejesus out of me. This one was done right. I had to check my apartment when it ended 😬 ❤️ Ghost movies need a good buildup too, and this one succeeded there. It began with little scares and slowly escalated to outright horror. ❤️ The acting was meh at first, but then there were many moments that felt incredibly authentic, and I was really impressed. ❤️ I liked how they integrated aspects from the first Hell House movie and tied them together. Immaculate 🎬🍿✝️⛪️🤰🏻📿🩸🕯️🗡️ . Husband’s Review: 4.5/10 . Immaculate was a disappointing horror film. An attempt at elevated horror that does feature plenty of blood and gore, but I found boring and pretentious. The musical score tries to create a creepy atmosphere, but this is lacking in the scares department. Without credits the film is only an hour and 20 minutes, but this felt like it dragged. Things only pick up around the 59 minute mark. Sydney Sweeney gives a good performance in this, but it isn’t enough to save the film. I had high expectations for Immaculate as the media hyped it up and I also heard the movie had an unforgettable ending. It did not. This all felt flat despite an intriguing premise. I certainly hope The First Omen is better than this. . . Wife’s Review: 5/10 . Immaculate had an interesting premise, but it lacked a strong execution of the material. It was distracting how loud the music was during some moments. It was meant to come across as eerie, but I found it quite annoying. This wasn’t a scary movie and I was hoping it would be. I feel like it would’ve been a better film with more scares. They teased the audience with a horror vibe and it didn’t have any scary moments. It had some pretty nasty moments with all the blood though. I was disappointed with the ending. I wanted to see the end result of what was created and we didn’t get to see it on screen at all. They made us curious about the results just to not show us which is frustrating. Overall Immaculate had potential to be a good horror movie with some sick twists, but it fell flat. Baghead (UK, 2024) ❤️❤️❤️🖤🖤 A girl inherits her late father’s pub, not knowing that a monster with the power to revive the dead lurks in the basement. “Tonight, her curse ends with me. If you’re watching this, you know I failed.” There were things I really liked about this one, but a few I really hated too. Here’s my breakdown of it. ❤️ The creature concept was super cool! It was scary not just in how it looked but in its history, nature, and abilities too. ❤️ I loved the theme (big surprise 🤓) of grief and not only having to cope with the loss of the loved one but the lack of closure as well. ❤️ The story was decent and it had a couple of twists that I didn’t see coming. I liked how it integrated old-timey photos, which were extra creepy since it wasn’t typical for people to smile in pictures back then 😐 🖤 The main character made a lot of dumb decisions that were really frustrating. Having a character do something when they were specifically warned not to is becoming a really annoying cliche. 🖤 I was confused by the relationship between the two girls. I thought they were dating at first, but then it was clear that they were just friends, which felt weird. Were they a couple originally and then the writers got cold feet? I don’t know, but it bothered me. Overall I think this one is worth checking out!
