Thursday morning Public Service Announcement: Over the past couple of weeks I have worked on 2 sets of brand new tanks, unpackaged and still in the box, only for me to get them out and find that one of the two were damaged. In both cases the tank was dented at the top of the rear end cap with zero damage to the box. One tank was able to be exchanged and the other had to buy another tank. I can’t stress enough the importance of opening and inspecting your parts when you get them. Wether you’re using them right away or down the road. Most companies have a short claim/return window. Stuff happens. Not directing blame at anyone and it’s hard to say when and where they got damaged, just trying to help you make sure that is what you ordered. When you choose to keep a large pack, it is your responsibility to train them. I let it go too long and finally said enough is enough. I’ve wanted to learn to train dogs for about 5 years now and it finally is happening. We are still ironing out issues, pretty intense learning to train and training my 8 dogs, 6 hours from home. I stayed at her home with my pack and we got it done. Angelina is an amazing dog trainer. And an amazing people trainer. I can’t tell you how many times I have said to her “that just makes perfect sense when you say it!” Or “I guess you really don’t know what you don’t know” meaning, I was messing things up when I thought I was fixing things. Historically, w/my condition that would mean I was healed..but I couldn’t be so lucky. Just because someone is on medication, does not mean that they're ok or "fixed" or better than they were previously. Psychiatry is a slippery slope of misdiagnosis, over-medication, polypharmacy and awful adverse reactions, that most people don't speak about. More times than not, psychotropic medication creates a plethora of new problems that weren't there prior to taking the medication. We live in a world of instant gratification and somewhere along the way, medication dangerously fell into that category. Anxious? Pop a pill. Need to focus for an exam? Pop an Adderall. The quick fixes are really just wolves in sheep's clothing, coming to destroy your every sense of self, cognitive abilities and wellbeing. I only realized the dangers, when it was already too late. Wrapping up the saga, my next step was the Title Insurance Company. I was 90% certain that the Buyer had bought Owner’s Title Insurance, which is optional but recommended. But without a copy of the Settlement Statement, we couldn’t prove he had title insurance, we couldn’t prove the mortgage payoff was collected or disbursed, and after the dead ends listed earlier this week, we couldn’t corroborate that information through an outside source. We called ReQuire – a company whose purpose is to correct title issues, but they told us it could be between 2 weeks and 6 months to complete and we were closing in 2 weeks. So, it wasn’t ideal. After all of that, and a couple of evenings searching through storage, my clients found the golden ticket. The magical Original Settlement Statement that made all the big problems go away!! This is a real story. This really happened to my clients less than a month ago. Moral of the story?? Keep your Settlement Statement, keep it as long as you own your home, and when you get ready to sell, keep it somewhere easy to find! So right now I feel like a royal idiot! But I need to post this so that people don't make the same mistake I did. Last Friday, I gave too much information to someone I thought was from Telus Mobility. They said we were eligible for free phones because of our loyalty to Telus. In the back of my mind I knew things didn't seem right. But I didn't listen to my instincts. I gave them my driver's license number, confirmed information they already had, and let them remote access my email. Don't worry I already know how dumb that was. Last night I got a security text from PayPal telling me to put the code in. It wasn't until then that I knew what had happened. I spent most of today on the phone with the RCMP, Canadian anti-fraud, Telus, Equifax, and Norton Security. I have changed passwords and there is now an alert on our Equifax for any suspicious activity on my accounts or credit card. I let myself become victim to Identity Theft. I did it. Now all I can do is hope that they didn't do much damage in the week that they had before I figured it out. Please don't let them get you. Have the extra annoying security in place.

Many people hear the word “abuse” and think of physical or emotional abuse, however there is such a thing as financial abuse. Financial abuse is often a means of control for the abuser of the abused. It’s more subtle than other forms of abuse, but if you know some of the signs you can spot it or prevent it: 1. Partner who discourages job seeking, promotions, or professional development and pushes for part-time or underemployment situations. You’ll see this quite often where a woman works a variety or multiple part time jobs, but never a full time job because the significant other will not allow it or places roadblocks in the way to prevent it. (Buys poorly maintained vehicles for her, will not arrange or contribute to childcare, argues that they don’t have the money for education, controls fuel access, does not keep vehicles repaired, discourages participation in development programs, buys a single reliable vehicle that only they drive.) 2. A partner who takes the paycheck of their significant other and controls where and how it is spent, without consent or sharing the details. Often you’ll see this in terms of an unusually small allowance that the person has to ask for. The coworker who says they have to ask their significant other if they can spend $12 join the group for lunch, or the person who declines an invite because they are given a fuel budget by their spouse. You’ll also see this in couples where the abused drives an older, poorly maintained, unattractive vehicle while the abuser has a reliable vehicle that looks decent. 3. Partners who have the significant other buy all the major purchases and control their income, not addressing bills. You see a lot of this in divorce, where one spouse commits to taking over payments or buying the other out at a certain point and then they don’t. It’s a form of control, in attempt to force dependence. If any of those things are happening to you, please find a way out. If you think some of these things may be happening, seek out counseling or talk to someone close to you that is honest with you.
