The most awaited startup list of the month is out! We are so excited to announce this month’s 30 Startups To Watch series – featuring the 30 hottest startups on our radar for April 🚀 The year 2023 was one of the most important crucible moments for the Indian startup ecosystem in recent memory – filled with regulatory challenges, record-low funding influx and many, many more problems. Unfortunately, little has changed despite stepping into FY25. As per Inc42, funding raised by Indian startups receded to a seven-year low, falling 33%YoY to $2 Bn in Q1 2024. Further, the first week of April 2024 (between April 1 and 6) saw a WoW decline of 38% in funding. Similar was the trend towards the end of the month when the startup funding was down 33% WoW. The repercussions of this funding winter continue to reverberate throughout the ecosystem, prompting a fundamental shift in focus towards sustainability. However, on the positive side, the vagaries of this two-year-long capital drought have not dampened the innovative spirit of the Indian startup landscape. Lately, we have witnessed that the Indian startup ecosystem is experiencing a surge in early stage cleantech ventures, reflecting a collective commitment towards environmental stewardship. Alongside this, a diverse array of ventures spanning sectors such as D2C, agritech, and AI are contributing towards the spirit of disruption pulsating within the ecosystem. But, what truly sets Indian founders apart is their unwavering focus on creating value rather than raising funds. This is probably what is keeping Indian startups going despite the gloom. As Aranjuez opened the evening show February 2019 DURING Fashion Week in London. After her first catwalk launch with us February 2018 DURING London Fashion Week her FULL collection SOLD on the day of the show and she was finally recognised by the government of the Philipines and was awarded and supported to come back for our show in February this year. The images you see is of one of our iKonic models wearing Aranjuez designs and holding a beautiful hand held bag. The story behind the designs of the bags, still brings tears to my eyes today. The women who designed these bags are from prisons, some wrongly accused; the women sitting in the back behind our designer are the tribal women who do the weaving and beadsmaking of Aranjuez’s clothes and bags. They waited for 20 years that somebody will help them in showcasing their work. When I was told about this, I pushed and wanted to give them the opportunity to showcase their work. Now they are generating an income since our show. After the House of iKons show DURING Fashion Week in London February 2019, support has overflowed from the government of the Philipines. From this amazing government support, Heritage, Culture and Identity are finding balance in ethical Enteprise which have been continuously learned and experienced through this network of academe-private-public partnership, this was a direct result from the exposure and platform given by House of iKons. It’s not just about being a “pretty fashion show” it’s about having a heart and giving an opportunity that could change the course of a person’s life, social changes and awareness. Investment firm Oister Global announced the Rs 440 crore Oister India Pinnacle Fund (OIPF) to support emerging technology-led innovations and sunrise sectors.
