Then the first twin needed yet another surgery at 15 months. I used to be a fitness instructor and was always obsessed about staying in shape. After the success of their heart surgeries, I dived in and ran the NYC marathon 5x after I turned 40 🙌 It was a great stress release and it helped me stay in shape but it was very taxing on my body and mind because I became obsessed with beating my own running times ... I was out the door training at 5am 6x a week. Now I don't really work out as often and am staying in shape by cooking our own meals instead of buying prepared frozen meals and only do takeout food if absolutely necessary, which is rare these days. I feel much healthier now than I've ever been. And for my family's sake, not as obsessed about running anymore. The big Focus for me now is breath work 🫁 and trying to stay as calm as possible (which is hard to do as a Knicks fan LOL) and my new focus is: Sleeping more hours (even though it's nearly impossible as a busy working mom of 3 kids) Did you know that you can burn more fat if you sleep early and are in tune with the sun? Eat before the sun goes down 🌄 and be out when the sun rises 🌅 Looks like old people had it right all along 👴🧓 I'm thankful I found my way even at almost 50 years old, not needing to work out like a maniac and focusing on Calm and sleep 💤 Btw, maybe when my kids are fully grown, I would love to get back into running again because I do miss it and feel like I can definitely beat my fastest running time even as an older athlete 😂 For now, if I don't sleep 8 hours and if I feel cranky or groggy, I forgive myself and just say to myself that Tomorrow is Another Day! ❤️ #PTSD #mentalhealth #openheartsurgery #heartmom #anxiousmom #stress #running #healthylifestyle #calm #sleep #GoneWithTheWind #almost49 #almost50 #RoxyWellness
