Been training with @harriettcampxx for a while and she literally smashes every session she comes to !! 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐏 fearing the scales.. here's why ⏬️ 🏋‍♂️ The the number on the scales isn't a rating of your worth. So stop attaching your worth to that number. Nobody cares what you weigh; just YOU! 🏋‍♂️ The scales cannot determine the difference between bodyfat, muscle, water, skin etc. So stop making the association that if the number fluctuates this is because you "are fat." 🏋‍♂️ Scales are 𝟏 method of measuring progress. The scales will fluctuate (particularly as a woman) dependent upon water retention, hormonal fluctuations, whether you ate later and weighed earlier than usual, more sodium consumed etc. If you are using the scales; it is important that the number is viewed with 𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞. 🏋‍♂️ The scales are an educational tool. They form a single part of a massize puzzle. The scales are not a grenade that will explode when you stand on them. 🏋‍♂️ MUSCLE WEIGHS. So if you are new to resistance training and/or are training with intensity and progressively over time. The chances are, you will develop lean tissue (muscle) thus impacting on the scales. Do I get my clients to weigh? On the most part yes. If this is not going to be completely detrimental to their mindset; and I think there is scope for us to develop their relationship with the scales and make it an educational, informative part of the puzzle of progress data. Absolutely! They are not the devil; if we view them for what they actually are, and not the ultimate priority.
