27 April - Rest & Recovery Decided that this weekend is about rest & recovery. Hit a 25 minute stretch and mobility session this morning and will do the same tomorrow. As I was reminded yesterday, recovery time is essential to growth. I’m sure many of us struggle with taking a day away from training so rest and recovery is the focus of my personal fitness challenge for the next two days. I do have an irrational fear that if I skip a day in the gym. I’ll start making excuses to not go the next day and the day after and so on. To avoid that, I find myself going to the gym every day, but as I’ve told other seeking motivation, not every work out must be a full training session - weighted or otherwise. So today I showed up, did a bit of cardio and some light stretching. Did all my necessary grocery shopping yesterday. I’m staging my food prep over the next three days. I’ve got everything prepped for tonight‘s stirfry dinner, bread and clafoutis baked for the week. Tomorrow, I’ll skin, bone and roast the turkey breast that I thawed. On Monday, I’ll prep and make soup for the next 10 days, I plan to spend the rest of today relaxing on the couch and napping if the mood strikes. I’ll take a walk with the dog later this afternoon. Race day Saturday 🙃 Wood Memorial Trout Run 5K Nice temps, sun even peaked out at the end, AND the rain held off!! Now, if we can just get the winds to calm down a bit for race days! Really wanted to keep that 7:18ish all the way through but the wind on the final stretch had other plans (not to shabby though). Half Marathon Training W10 D6: ✔️ Was it crazy to run a half marathon as training for my half marathon two weeks from today? Discuss amongst yourselves. 😂 In other news, it’s my runnerversary today! On 4/27/20, I started the Couch to 5K program (C25K) - something I’d tried at least a dozen other times in my adult life. Sometimes, in those previous iterations of “Operation: Make Cindy a Runner,” I’d get through C25K, sign up for a race, run it, and then go back to my sloth-like ways. Sometimes, I wouldn’t even make it through the 9-week program before quitting. I always found excuses to stop. So I’d quit. Again. Every time I quit, I’d gain more weight. Ever the optimist, I kept coming back to C25K. I started again for the last time on 4/27/20 - when we were collectively dealing with pandemic lockdowns, anxiety, and fatigue. I had been walking consistently for 7 months, but was ready for more. And this time, it stuck. Today marks 208 weeks of being a runner, of of running at least 3x/week - with exceptions only for illness and injury (I’m looking at you guys, COVID and hamstring bursitis of 2021.) In the last four years, I’ve finished two full marathons and too many half marathons, 10-mile races, 10Ks, and 5Ks to count. I finished a half marathon this morning, and will run another in California two weeks from today. In November, I’ll finish marathon #3! So, what was different about 2020, compared to my previous failed attempts at running? I honestly don’t know. I wish I did. It started as a way to continue losing weight - but somewhere along the way, it morphed into a lifestyle. Caught in action this morning 🎥 ~~ If you saw my story, you know today was a burner 🔥 but I’m still proud of myself for showing up and giving it 💯% effort. Wall balls, rowing and box step ups are not my thing 🙅🏼‍♀️ but I’m never gonna get better at them if I don’t ever practice. ~~ So today, I did more reps of each movement than I can count and finished under the time cap! ⏱️ ~~ Chalking today up as a big win! 👏 Let’s gooo!

⚠️ Music is loud 🫣 Let’s go for an stronger upper body 😮‍💨 TRICEPS- BICEPS & CHEST 💪🏼 9 exercises- 3 Series - 3 Trisets ( Triset : 3 exercises in a row no resting in between) 1 min rest between series . TRISET N•1 1️⃣Triceps : 12 reps each arm 2️⃣Bicep Curl : 12 reps each arm ( holding arm that’s not working at 90 degree angle ) 3️⃣ Chest : 12-15 reps 1 min rest between series TRISET N•2 4️⃣ Triceps : 12 -15 reps 5️⃣ Biceps- Alternating Hammer Curls : 6 each arm - 12 total 6️⃣ Chest- Triceps - Biceps & Core : 8-10-12 reps ( depending on how many you can do ) I used to be better at this , now is getting more difficult 😞 the closer that you get to the floor the better , it can be done on the knees or feet .
