It doesn't feel like it was that long ago that I was running wearing my light as it was still dark in the morning. It's quite a novelty to now be applying SPF before I head out! I increased my distance a bit today and it felt pretty good. I wasn't pushing for any sort of time as I just wanted to be able to do 5 miles. The weather definitely makes things easier, I love running when it's sunny ☀️.

Exercise after giving birth can be a big topic. Some people will be keen to get into it quite quickly, perhaps especially if they were very active before giving birth. Others will be happier to wait longer until they feel ready and more used to the change in lifestyle. The NHS recommends waiting until after the 6-week postnatal check before starting high-impact exercise such as running or aerobics, but gentle walking, stretching, swimming, and gentle exercises for your abdomen and pelvic floor can all be started as soon as you feel ready. Most people will feel tired when they have a newborn, and getting out of the house can feel like a mission, but exercise has lots of benefits for helping you to recover physically and mentally after birth. They key is to do what you can manage and listen to your body so you don't overdo it. Bear in mind that your body will probably feel different from before pregnancy, and that's normal and ok. Appropriate exercise in the postnatal period can help you to: 👟 restore strength in your body 👟 relieve stress 👟 promote more restful sleep 👟 increase your Vitamin D levels if you're outside 👟 improve your mood 👟 reduce symptoms of postnatal depression 👟 help your abdominal and pelvic floor muscles to heal 👟 improve your cardiovascular fitness If you like to meeet other people or do a bit more, you could find a local class specialising in postnatal exercise. Classes involving yoga, buggy walks and slings are all popular and usually involve you being able to take your baby with you. Connecting to your lower abs can be tricky. Sometimes they’re “hard to feel” working and other times, different parts of your core are “louder” sooo, how do you know if they’re working? When you’re doing flat back core like this - no crunching - we are looking to maintain alignment and not allow the shape of your back to change or your ribs/pelvis to move. Good old neutral. Don’t jam your low back into the mat 😉 Start with single leg movement. This will provide some awareness with regards to your pelvis and your core control. Keeping your elbows on the floor provides more support. You could also place your hands on your hips, belly or by your sides. Add in both legs moving. The further your thigh bone travels away from the midline, the more challenging it is for your core. If your pelvis tips forward (or your low back arches) your range of motion is too large. Build that endurance in your lower abs and deep transverse abs then increase range of motion! Add your arms. Going back overhead for a lat pullover will help bring awareness to whether your ribs want to flare open or your back wants to arch away from the floor. Going wide with your arms like a chest fly, can sometimes feel more supportive as your legs drop away from you. It’s just going to depend on how your core shows up! Basically, the more you challenge your midline connection with good pressure management, the easier it is to find all your core muscles! Yep, even the lower ones. These moves are great to add in as a core warmup when paired with your breath or in between sets of strength workouts as accessory work. OR! Does exercise negatively impact Breastmilk supply❓🤔 The short answer is NO! 😃 However, the content of breastmilk can be altered slightly but these effects are only short term and have no known harmful effects to baby. 👍🏾 - For those who like them, here are the facts; ❤️After high intensity exercise, levels of IgA in breastmilk are decreased. IgA is an anti body which is passed to baby through breastmilk. IgA helps to protect against many germs, illnesses and disease. Levels of IgA in breastmilk will be restored after approximately 30 minutes. ❤️After high intensity exercise, levels of Lactic Acid can increase in breastmilk. However these levels settle back down within 90 minutes. ❤️Staying hydrated is important for breastfeeding women. A mothers body will prioritise what it needs for breastmilk, so minor dehydration will not instantly effect supply, however it can affect the mother as their body will draw from the mothers supply in order to adequately support baby. If a mother is significantly dehydrated, milk production may be affected, so it’s important to make sure to consume enough fluids throughout the day. ❤️Did you know that lactating breasts are approximately 35% heavier than normal 😮 And by 9 months of pregnancy the average woman’s breasts can increased by up to 2 pounds! So it’s important to support breasts adequately when exercising and breastfeeding. Good support can prevent discomfort or injury and aid good posture for postpartum women. ❤️Due to the above many women may choose to express prior to exercise however please note that the above changes are associated with high intensity exercise ⚠️ It’s important not to rush into high intensity workouts in the immediate postpartum period. We must create strong foundations in our core and in order to sustain exercise and reduce injury in the future! High intensity exercise should be avoided until a mother has been cleared for exercise by a medical professional and efficient postnatal rehabilitation work completed 💯 - Hopefully that helps to clarify things. Le coccyx, c'est le petit os pointu que tu peux sentir entre les fesses. Il est le bout de la colonne vertébrale. A ce niveau là ? Il existe des ganglions (imagine que ce sont des petite boules plus petites que les billes de polypocket) .... Ces ganglions ? Ils donnent des infos à ton cerveau (en gros) Mais, quand il y a un traumatisme au niveau du coccyx : _ une chute _ une luxation (durant l'accouchement) Il peut y avoir une sur-stimulation de ces ganglions Autrement dit : Tu as le moral dans les chaussettes à cause de ta blessure au coccyx 😢 Donc, prendre des anti dépresseur (qui sont mauvais pour le périnée), ne t'aidera pas à résoudre le problème. A côté de ça, un coccyx mal positionné, va détendre le périnée antérieur (celui au niveau de la vessie) -> ça favorise les fuites urinaires... 😢 Voilà donc pourquoi, Porter des serviettes hygiéniques ne résoudra pas le problème Se fatiguer à mettre une sonde tous les soirs chez soi pour " renforcer " son périnée ne sert à rien Prendre des anti dépresseurs ne résoudra pas le problème Tu savais tout ça ? PS : les jeunes mamans qui viennent d'accoucher ont souvent le moral dans les chaussettes. Même s'il n'y a pas eu de luxation pendant l'accouchement, la tête du bébé butte contre le coccyx... et il lui faut du temps à ce coccyx pour revenir à sa place ... ❤️ Si tu connais une maman qui a le moral dans les chaussettes, pense à lui envoyer ce post.
