As my five year old pointed out we haven't had rain here for 3 days "that's very unusable (unusual he was trying to say)" he is absolutely right ♥️ particularly as I often paint our wild unpredictable weather but I'm loving these days of warmth and sun. I have been taking the opportunity to scape back the old flaking paint from our windows and repaint. Last done I was trying to remember but I'm certain at least 8 years ago so some areas were really needing tlc. It's quite a different way of life in sunshine isn't it. Painting shown is the wonderful colours I am inspired by often in the west coast. Water, rain, Shoreline shadows and pockets of light. It's so heavy with thick textured oil paint it's quite a heavy canvas (and took a long time to dry 😂). After The Rain. Approx 88cm square. Heading to heaven tomorrow….. can’t wait!!!!! 🏴 On our trip we will be stopping off to see @circe_the_racing_dog , for those who are new here we bred Circe and sadly she was returned to us at 2 years old. It wasn’t sad for long - She is now in the most incredible CaniX home and has been winning medals and having cuddles ever since!! We are also staying a night with @teamschwartz808 who is an inspiration to me on many levels , not only through her training and care ethos BUT she owns Bow’s uncle Riley and has a full team of racing dogs. We are going to be lucky enough to go out on the “rig” and experience all that fabulousness too!!! Gilli has supported me with many things.. and would you believe we have never met in person! Post 5 from the Scottish Holiday. Landed on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula and went straight to Sanna Bay, strong onshore winds and heavy cloud made for some dramatic photos. Also had a clear walk in the dead of night when the moon came out and illuminated the bay between Kilochan and Mull. Finished off the couple of days with a trip to the most westerly point of mainland UK, Loch Sunart and Singing Sands. This piece represents patience. Made over several days at a deliberately slow place, it was a mindful distraction from a tense wait for test results. I went where these flat periwinkles took me, with each making session preceded by careful sorting by size and colour. The shells are a blend of finds from Sanna Bay in Ardnamurchan and Tiree - two of my very favourite places. I don’t think I’ve ever been so grateful to work with shells…. 🤍💛🧡🤎

A different view of Sanna Bay on my easel. When you reach the end of the road to get there it feels like there’s nothing there but you walk over the dunes and the beach opens out before you giving you the feeling of being somewhere very special. This painting is my usual process of a painting using acrylic paints and then fabric collage for the features I want to pick out, then more painting over the top of the collage to blend or tweak some of the tones, and then charcoal and pastel line work over that.
