Not saying you need to workout every single day cause that can lead to overtraining however viewing weekly exercise (3-5 days a week) as essential as brushing your teeth for maintaining health is key to quality of life and longevity. Especially as we age. 👍🏾 A lot of people have this misconception that exercise has to always be this crazy over-the-top thing like an intense boot camp workout for it to count, but that is untrue because there are several movement and workout modalities that one can do at different intensity levels throughout the week that can all be beneficial to the body. Variety is awesome when it comes to body movement. 😉 Walking should be done just about daily whether it’s 15 mins or 60 mins. 20-30 mins or more of Strength training both weight bearing and body weight are so important to get in at least a couple times a week. Short bouts of high intensity interval training is great to do at least a couple times a week. There’s also plyo, yoga, Pilates, dancing, hiking, swimming, etc. 💃🏽 At the end of the day, as we age, the more healthy muscle you have the stronger your capacity, the greater your energy, the greater your ability to fight through anything because muscle is the organ of longevity. 💯 #consistencyiskey #exerciseismedicine #sonecessary #buildmuscle #workout #prioritizehealth #feelgood

Last Friday on a last minute whim, Quinn and I had the brilliant idea to ask for a night off. Fortune would have it that we were able to nab a suite on a holiday weekend at the beautifully renovated @nationalexchangehotel. Less than 24 glorious kid-free hours ensued. ✨ While the grandparents had a slumber party with the twins, Q and I got to relax and ACTUALLY ENJOY an indulgently long, multi course dinner; relish in not hearing a single whine, nag or toddler demand at @lolaatthenash. And simply just enjoy each other’s company for a night and a yummy Easter brunch before joining back up with the wild ones the following morning. #sonecessary (our #twinning was not intentional but we rolled with it and got a few nice compliments from some friendly strangers to boot. The gal that checked us in informed us that twinning is apparently real big with couples in Korea right now.) 😉

After church today, @kerrievpabon and I went to brunch @bermudabaratl, and since we were in Duluth, I decided to have a solo Self-care Sunday. I forgot how relaxing this place can be! My regimen consisted of 3 hot/dry saunas (Salt, Jewel, and Silver & Gold), the Icy/cold sauna, a Citrus Sunshine Pedicure at @tanzinailsalon, the warm jacuzzi, cold tub (just barely lasted 30 seconds), hot tub, steam room, and ended with about 15 minutes under the infrared lights. 5 hours later, I suppose I’ll head home now. . . . #relaxation #relax #selfcare #takingcareofme #selfcareisnotselfish #sonecessary #sunday #selfcaresunday #solo #wellness #wellbeing #koreanbathhouse #sauna #pedicure #jeju #tanzi

Do you think you're too old to work out? I've always worked out but last year I slacked a lot. 3 months in Perú didn't do me good either. I walked loads but didn't do any weight training. Where before I could always motivate myself, when I got back from Perú I could get myself going. So when I set my goals for 2023 I knew I had to get some help. Which I found 👏 And I'm so happy I did. I'm back to working out, I enjoy being outside and training with other people. My trainer @luis_tocino_ pushes me hard to get the results I want. My body enjoys it although sometimes it grunts at me 🤬 I happily grunt back! I'm 57 now and this year I'm going for my best shape ever! Does age hold YOU back? Please reconsider 🙏 The body is a wonderful machine and can do wonders also at a certain age. Get into lifting weight or lift your PT doing squats 😅 The older you get, the more important this is. We reset when we rest❤️. I have to admit that resting was never a strength of mine until my fifties. I did burn out in my forties from having a job, a massage business and building a MLM. It’s taken a while to heal burnout and now I have stricter boundaries around my rest time. Sundays are a natural rest day, especially after a busy week of constantly planning my schedule, thinking about strategy for my business, accounting, spending time with family and making time for friends and networking. Rest us a time to recharge and relax my brain so I can do it again next week.
