Madame Web (2024) Genre : Action/Fantasy Rating : 5/10 A paramedic has a near death experience and starts having visions of the future. I used to write these kinds of reviews for DC movies, because they always suck and it breaks my heart to write one like this for a Marvel movie. I mean, how can they mess up the Spiderman universe, when the original, Amazing Spiderman and the Spiderverse are doing so great? Its beyond me. Let’s start with the very weird camera work in the film, I don’t get why it was so shaky, I mean, okay, there are flashbacks but it still doesn’t make any sense for it to be this crazy. Then we have the CGI, while Marvel has always gone overboard with CGI, it was never this bad. Then you have the cheesy dialogue and the obvious storyline, the subpar acting and the overall cringe factor. I don’t usually agree with the reviews that most people give, I get it, there are a lot of haters out there, but this movie deserves all the negative reviews its been getting. Like imagine how cool it could’ve been, a superhero movie with an all female cast about a hero(ine) that literally EVERYONE loves. They messed it up so bad and to top things off, they didn’t have any end credits, that just made me really mad. Marvel movies are supposed to have end credits!! So, if youre a fan of Marvel and Spiderman, I would suggest that you skip this one, its horrible! At first i didn't really care to see these but I caved in and I watched the trilogy to be able to see Kingdom. I now see why these got high scores cuz imo they were phenomenal. I barely have any issues with em. Like I never thought I would feel so many emotions for incredible cgi apes and gorillas but I did and i wanted them to win every time if it was Caesars team. Underwater (2020) Genre : Science Fiction Rating : 5/10 A crew drilling for minerals at the bottom of the ocean finds their compound being ripped to pieces by something. Well, honestly, if you know me, you know I love movies where animals rip people to shreds for invading their land but you would also know that sci-fi just isn’t my thing. I clicked on this movie for two reasons, the one I mentioned above and well, Kristen Stewart and I regret it. The movie was very average, it started off with Stewart giving a very Twilight-y monologue and then the entire movie was just a compilation of darkness and shaky camera work which ruined the movie-watching experience for me. Then to the mysterious animal that kept coming at the crew, I was intrigued at first, but when they actually showed it to us, it looked more like an alien than anything possibly found on Earth. This movie made the same mistake that Adam Driver’s 65 made, with all the fossils that we’ve found and the research that scientists have done, movies can come up with somewhat realistic monsters, even though, there is space for a lot of imaginative work since we’ve only explored about 7% of the ocean but I can bet there’s nothing like Alien on steroid down there. So, I was really disappointed, as you can imagine. So, you should definitely skip this one! Poor Things Custard Tarts; 45 Minutes : Makes 12 Custard 400ml Whole Milk or Vegan Alternative 1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract 1/4 Tsp Almond Extract 50 G Sugar 3 Tbsp Cornflour 3 Large Egg Yolks 75g Double Cream or Vegan Alternative Puff Pastry Cinnamon 1. Place your Milk, Vanilla Extract, Almond Extract and Sugar in a pot and gradually heat till all the Sugar has dissolved. Once ready, remove from the heat and leave to cool for 15 minutes. 2. Heat your oven to 200*C. Roll out the sheet of Pastry and cut out 12 circles about 2/3 inches in diameter. Line a muffin tin, pace in your Pastry disc, pat down and cup. Blind bake for 5-10 till the base is cooked. Remove from the oven. 3. Once the Custard is cool, add the Egg Yolks, Cream and Cornflour to the pot and return it to the heat. Whisk till all is combined and the mixture is thick. 4. Turn the heat on your oven up to 220*C. Top up your pastry cups with Custard. Lightly dust the top of your tarts with Cinnamon and bake for 5-10 minutes till the top so the tarts change in colour slightly. Remove and place on a wire rack. Serve warm and enjoy!

La carrera del entrenador Thomas Rongen parece haber llegado a su fin tras un pasional altercado. No está listo para despedirse del fútbol aún, y la oportunidad se presenta en la forma del equipo de Samoa americana, famosamente derrotada por Australia 31 a 0. Contra viento y marea, Thomas debe reformar al equipo lo suficiente para garantizar aunque sea una victoria. Revisando Star+, vi que la plataforma finalmente agregó la versión de los hechos que acaecieron al infame equipo bajo la dirección de Taika Waititi, con su característico humor. Tuve algunas objeciones al ver "Next Goal Wins" la primera vez, pero sin duda no merece tanto odio de la crítica especializada. El argumento empieza con un sentido primer acto, dando dimensión de la profundidad del conflicto, y escala a la par del potencial del equipo de salir adelante. No obstante, ciertas discreciones en las motivaciones personales de Thomas hacen perder parte del foco narrativo, y aunque los recursos humorísticos se incorporan orgánicamente, no engranan para dar con un cierre más definido y sentido. Hay mucho corazón en la producción, solo falta afinar detalles que impulsen el carácter de sus protagonistas. Con poco trasfondo narrativo pero con una física siempre a la altura, Michael Fassbender compone un obsesivo pero también agotado Thomas, en compañía del suplicante Tavita de Oscar Knightley y la férrea Jaiyah de Kaimana. Parece poco, y posiblemente no destaque en cuanto a singularidad, pero hay un gran manejo de la puesta lumínica en exteriores (que representan casi la totalidad del film), a la par de un montaje bastante decente y una conmovedora banda sonora. “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” (2014) The second installment in the rebooted “Planet of the Apes” series has something in common with “Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior”: both predecessors took place in the present-day, while the sequels represented more of the post-apocalyptic worlds they’re generally known for. In “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” a virus that resulted from an experimental drug gone wrong has wiped out much of the human population around the globe. The few “genetically-immune” survivors try to make do with the resources they have, and to make contact with the outside world. Meanwhile, a colony of intelligent apes (led by Caesar) roams the forests on the outskirts of what remains of San Francisco—and Western civilization. This is a rare sequel that really improves on its predecessor in every way, thanks, in part, to the commitment of actor Andy Serkis (as Caesar), phenomenal direction by Matt Reeves, incredible production design by James Chinlund, and brilliant writing by Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Mark Bomback. It ranks as another milestone in motion capture performance (courtesy Weta Digital), this time shot in raining environments and in a taller aspect ratio. That being said, “Dawn” is also a much more violent entry (competing with 1972’s “Conquest”), with scenes of gunplay, language issues, and a few startling moments. Part of that has to do with characters’ conflicting motivations and agendas. Characters who are unwilling to let go of deep-seated anger and hatred, resulting in betrayal and broken trust. The chief example is the bonobo ape Koba (Toby Kebbell), an abused test subject (from “Rise”) who serves as this film’s main antagonist. Like Aldo in 1973’s “Battle,” he’s a character who is willing to kill even his own kind to get what he wants, adding to this narrative’s themes of fear and destruction against peace and understanding. And although Michael Giacchino’s score does have some clever homages to Jerry Goldsmith’s music from the original movies (scenes in underground tunnels recall 1970’s “Beneath”), “Dawn” is a more gripping and exhilarating slow-burn of a drama.

Co-written and co-directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods who conceived the script for the largely successful film, ‘A Quiet Place.’ Collaborate on a futuristic tale about a pilot, portrayed by Adam Driver, who is assigned to transport passengers on a space expedition. Yet crash lands onto an unknown planet during an asteroid collision and discovers that he is 65 million years into prehistoric history when the dinosaurs once reigned on Earth. Initially intrigued with the premise, I was curious to see where the direction would go for this concept about past meeting future. But the film ultimately disappointments as the execution turns out to be very by-the-numbers with no twists or surprises. There were moments of potential as the airman discovers a lone survivor within the ruins of his cargo. A young girl portrayed by Ariana Greenblatt, who becomes a potential daughter figure to him with the audience curious to see their burgeoning relationship whilst they struggle to survive. But this is squandered as their characters are under-developed. Causing their bond to feel artificial rather than genuine as their relationship isn’t fully fleshed out in the writing department. Thus lowering the stakes as the viewer has no concern for their well-being throughout their journey. 65 is a decent pastime but will be marked down as a missed opportunity. There are endless possibilities on the direction that this feature could have taken to make it a more vibrant and fascinating adventure. But the passion was non-existent during this project. This film is a hollow shell riddled with plot-holes and plot-contrivances that only tones down the experience. 65 - [6/10]

Recensione di Elena Pacca Estranei Andrew Haigh Regno Unito, Stati Uniti, 2023 Tutti i film o almeno gran parte meriterebbero una seconda visione ma mai come Estranei di Andrew Haigh, per il quale è necessaria, fondamentale. La prima volta la mente è in costante elaborazione di percorso perché è come un navigatore che perde la rotta e ricalcola incessantemente e questo, giocoforza, ti allontana un po' dal sentire il film. Impossibile dire una trama senza rivelare e togliere non chi sia l’assassino perché non è un giallo, ma le possibili interpretazioni di quanto accade sullo schermo. La privación del exterior por su tutor, Godwin Baxter, mueve en Bella Baxter fuertes deseos de abrirse al mundo. Pero no dejé de ver material en todo este tiempo y, junto a mi compañera, tuvimos la oportunidad de ver "Poor Things" en el cine. Y creo firmemente que no había mejor forma de verla. El guión es uno bastante complejo. Reflexiona sobre cuestiones ineludibles a la formación del ser desde un punto de vista fantástico como lo es el de su protagonista. Hay mucha restricción y decadencia en el mundo, pero incluso en las más oscuras circunstancias, Bella es capaz de imprimir su libre forma de ser. Eso no escapa a un eventual choque entre las fuerzas, pero nuestra heroína sale victoriosa aprendiendo de la situación. A la par, el film no escapa a un humor apropiadamente catártico para suavizar el impacto de la cruda existencia de Bella. Sumando los majestuosos armados escenográficos, la exquisita fotografía y la imponente banda sonora, no es de extrañar la presencia de la cinta en la temporada de premiaciones. Yorgos Lanthimos nos trae probablemente la mejor performance de Emma Stone. Su Bella es risueña y vivaz, y el trabajo corporal y verbal con que madura a lo largo del metraje es extraordinario. La acompañan un excéntrico Willem Dafoe como el doctor Baxter y un compulsivo Mark Ruffalo como Duncan. Sin olvidar tampoco los gratos aportes de Jerrod Carmichael y Hanna Schygulla como Harry y Martha. La película ya está disponible en Star+. No pasen de verla aunque sea una vez. This bold and highly imaginative fantasy is the eighth feature film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, a 21st-century auteur who has made a name for himself with his dark humor and his ability to make macabre and grotesque stories look beautiful. Lanthimos doesn’t deviate from his signature style in “Poor Things,” a four-time Oscar-winner that boasts an absolutely wacky production design and (at times) very upsetting subject matter. But the underlying structure that supports all the unconventional elements (and the thing that makes “Poor Things” so gloriously hopeful) is a surprisingly conventional plot map with a tried-and-true storybook hero who has been all dolled up in Lanthimos fashion. Curiosa di esplorare il mondo, Bella fugge con un avvocato in un'avventura libera dai pregiudizi. Lanthimos dirige Poor Things! con una forma perfetta e mutevole nel corso del film. Yorgos non impone una direzione o uno stile, il regista segue letteralmente la vita di Bella mostrandola allo spettatore con diversi occhi, per esempio con l'utilizzo di lenti anamorfiche per dare la visione più larga possibile e fare da contrasto con la stanza-gabbia di Bella, si fa un uso del bianco e nero espressionista per rappresentare la parte da neonata di Bella poi via via si utilizzano colori sempre più sgargianti che si accendono sempre più come la voglia della ragazza di conoscenza. La forma è perfetta e mai incoerente con il resto della storia così come la messa in scena di questo mondo steampunk dove i cieli da sogno sono effettivamente dipinti. Niente viene lasciato al caso, tutto quello che ci viene mostrato dai costumi alle scenografie sono funzionali all'evoluzione di Bella. Poor Things! è l'adattamento del romanzo di Alasdair Gray. La storia di Bella è un semplice viaggio dell'eroe, un racconto palesemente femminista senza il bisogno di ridurre tutti gli uomini come idioti o zerbini e con una forte critica verso il pensiero di possesso di altre persone. Una sceneggiatura che non fa evolvere solo la protagonista, ma anche tutti gli altri personaggi, tutti si trovano diversi nel finale. Bella non è vittima di sovrastrutture sociali, è padrona di sé stessa, non si lascia sopraffare e vive in assoluta libertà. Willem Dafoe ha una faccia da mettere ovunque e qua interpreta un inquietante Godwin Baxter che inizialmente è distaccato e sul finale prova quasi un sentimento paterno nei confronti della sua creatura. Mark Ruffalo parte in un modo e finisce totalmente all'inverso risultando il personaggio più umano. The Boogeyman (2023) Genre : Horror Rating : 6/10 After losing their mother, two sisters struggle to get on with their lives but something sinister lurks in the shadows, feeding off their suffering. Well, I found out after watching the film that it was adapted from a short story by Stephen King and it kind of improved my opinion of it. The film stretches the mythic creature into a broader embodiment of fear and paranoia. However, it ends up feeling soft around the edges, relying on peek-a-boo jump scares and a self-serious tone that echoes debates around elevated horror. The story follows a family navigating the aftermath of the death of their mother. The grief is palpable in the film's stark atmosphere and a palette of dark hues, but unfortunately, it lacks the emotional tact to make us genuinely feel the sorrow. Instead, we're left with a numbing sense of pity for the characters. In Stephen King's terms, this movie might be more frightening as a distant threat than a close encounter. Savage's attempt to make PG-13 horror edgy falls short, and the film feels like it's in need of a technological and narrative upgrade. So, if you like horror movies, you might want to skip this one, it isn’t the best but it isn’t the worst either. But some of the great tales of competition don’t have winners, they have people who gave it their all and become something larger in the trying. The thing is, though, that folks get so wrapped up in earning the gold that they forget why they started striving for it in the first place. I've loved every film Yorgos Lanthimos has made so far, and Poor Things is no exception. The acting is incredible, with Emma Stone giving an unbelievably beautiful performance. The story is fascinating and kept me wondering where things were going. The look is amazing. I love the fact that you can see Yorgos homaging his favorite films (most notably The Wizard of Oz and Freaks). The film feels a little long, but that's a minor nitpick. Reseña de POOR THINGS Película interesante pero no es para todo el público. Lo que más destaco de este film es el uso de la paleta de colores ,cómo juega con el uso del blanco y negro para denotar ciertos momentos y luego cambia a colores más vivos, llamativos para dar a entender el crecimiento de nuestra protagonista y marcando muy bien el estilo barroco de la época. A esto hay que agregarle el vestuario muy marcado y específico para cada personaje. La banda sonora acompaña muy bien ciertas situaciones haciéndose más pesada con tonos más chirriantes ,por momentos exagerada y por otros más tranquila y suave. También hay que marcar el uso de los planos y fotografía, los cuales son excelentes ,utiliza muchas veces el plano gran angular y cada fotograma tiene su estética y personalidad. El elenco es excelente, Emma stone como bella lo da todo para meterse en un personaje que se va desarrollando de a poco. Mark Ruffalo como Duncan un abogado perverso abogado que se va derrumbando a medida que avanza la trama. Y Willem Dafoe como el Dr, Godwin y lo que más destaco de este personaje es en el maquillaje y prostáticos que se usaron para dar personalidad y a esto lo acompaña la gran actuación de Willem. La dirección de Yorgos Lanthimos cómo siempre es rara, exagerada y cuestionable para personas muy sensibles que no están acostumbrados a este tipo de cine y cuestionan la historia por ser desaprobada socialmente por ciertas escenas que son justificadas en la película. Aunque si en algunos momentos se vuelve redundante. En resumen, me gustó ,todas las nominaciones que tiene a los Oscars son merecidas. Recomendación veanla en cines ,tiene una duración de 2 horas y 20min y no se asombren de temas que la película toca a propósito para hacer una crítica social bastante obvia. TÍTULO: Percy Jackson y el Mar de los Monstruos AÑO: 2013 DIRECTOR(A): Thor Freudenthal CRÉDITOS: 20th Century Fox Tengo sentimientos encontrados con este filme, por un lado mejora en algunos aspectos pero por el otro empeora en muchos más Lo Bueno: Por lo que "investigué" esta continuación es más fiel al material original que la anterior entrega, además de ser más coherente con la continuidad de la Mitología Griega; también le dieron profundidad al pasado de Annabeth y algo de desarrollo a Percy, que en esta ocasión ya no es un personaje beneficiado por el guión (lo cual se podría considerar nerfeo), y hablando de Percy, Logan Lerman mejoró algo en su interpretación lo cual es de agradecer Lo Malo: Los efectos especiales empeoraron con respecto a la anterior película, en algunas escenas el CGI se ve decente y otras partes se ve como en una película de Disney Channel; Grover no hace nada en toda la película; la aparición de Tyson genera una incongruencia con la anterior entrega, lo mismo con el árbol de Talía que se supone proteje el campamento de los semidioses pero en la primera película ni aparece ni se le menciona; la trama no es interesante y se vuelve monótona y predecible a medida que avanza; las motivaciones del villano son poco convincentes y muere de forma lamentable; Kronos no es el titan imponente que debería ser, no se siente como la gran amenaza nivel vengadores que debería ser, aparte lo derrotan a los 5 minutos de haber aparecido... desperdicio total; la supuesta muerte de Tyson no es impactante porque vivo un par de minutos después y no es creíble que haya sobrevivido a una caída de como 5 metros; el personaje de Clarisse es arrogante y molesto; y a pesar de que le agregaron evolución a Percy, se siente totalmente forzado, se nota que lo metieron a la fuerza para intentar corregir lo que salió mal en la anterior película pero salió peor Y no voy a mencionar todo lo que hicieron mal en intentar crear una franquicia, eso lo voy a explicar en otra publicación Nota: 4,6/10 #percyjackson #20thcenturyfox #disneyplus #loganlerman #alexandradaddario #tsgentertainment #stanleytucci #mitologiagriega #nathanfillon #1492pictures #ronperlman #rickriordan
