WRESTLEMANIA WRECOMMEMDATIONS FIGHTING WITH MY FAMILY (2019) With this weekend being #wrestlemania weekend, I figured this weekend, let's give a shout out to some of the best grapple themed movies, starting with this gem that I saw in cinemas in 2019 and have rewatched a few times since. Most biopics have a tendency to be copy and paste, but Stephen Merchant's Saraya Knight biopic feels fresh and heartwarming. From most of the characters feeling the right balance of authentic and Hollywood, not forcing an antagonist like most biopics, to a clear love and respect to the source, not only is this a great wrestling movie, this is one of the better biopics in recent memory. It's vibrant, funny and feel good. Acting highlights from everyone to Vince Vaughn to Lena Headey to Nick Frost to even The Rock cutting an old school promo near the start of the film. This film also introduced me to Florence Pugh. Thank you. A star making performance. Extra props since I bumped into Stephen Merchant during Wrestlemania 32 weekend and couldn't have been nicer. Jojo Rabbit (2019) Direção: Taika Waititi Alemanha, final da Segunda Guerra Mundial. Um menininho de 10 anos tem como amigo imaginário o próprio Hitler. Uma premissa interessante, mas também difícil de trabalhar, já que colocar humor nesse contexto é sempre navegar numa linha tênue. Há quem ache o filme de mal gosto. Eu não vejo problema algum com a abordagem, visto que “Jojo Rabbit” é uma sátira que ridiculariza o nazismo, que debocha dos opressores e não dos oprimidos. Claro que se fosse uma comédia o tempo inteiro, provavelmente entraria no campo do mal gosto. Sabendo disso, Waititi vai deixando sua história um pouco mais sombria com o decorrer do tempo, fazendo com que não esqueçamos das barbáries cometidas pelos nazistas. Tenho algumas pequenas ressalvas com o longa, mas nenhuma que me incomode a ponto de prejudicar a experiência. Did a recent binge of The Outlaws and what a fun show! Its like a mix of Parks and Rec and Breaking Bad, and its a great blend of the comedy of the “criminals” performing their community service and the quite serious crime bosses and drug dealing they get involved with. The cast is so likable with Stephen Merchant and Christopher Walken doing their regular best as well as new standouts Rhianne Barreto and Gamba Cole, they will be stars to watch.
