Everyone should read this book! It is so much more than the title. @chelseygoodan addresses a lot of the dangerous ways girls and women are fed hazardous perceptions of their image, media, how they should look, feel, etc. Many aspects of this book felt just as applicable to the adult women in my life, while also getting me ready to raise 3 teenage daughters (which my oldest will be a teen in less than 2 years. Crazy to think at one point I'll have daughters age 13, 17, and 19 at the same time). This book coaches you on how to empathetically listen, how to healthily be there for them even through frustration and mistakes. It also helps you be their biggest cheerleader and a person they can always come to when they need a listening ear. She emphasizes curiosity, not judgment. Chelsea's guidance and knowledge is incredible. I have no doubt my daughters will grow up to be remarkable no matter what I do, because they already are remarkable. But this book is helping me be the best father I can as they mature and go through this crazy life.

For those who have seen me as a serious candidate and have given me a spot on the stage or in the media and will be the next few weeks, thank you from the bottom of my heart. For those who haven’t and have lumped me in/labeled me as a non-serious candidate, shame on you. The trauma from not having money as a child or after law school in the recession is real. I cashed in my retirement to run this campaign, I’m not coming off of a political role (which is a positive), I don’t have a sister in Congress, I’m not taking corporate PAC money, and I’m not independently wealthy (ie I’ve been working as a community attorney since January vs quiet quitting my job). This process has taught me a lot- that if I’m not seen as viable (whatever the f’ that means), how would a teacher or a nurse, or a single mother? If you want status quo politics, continue to lean into narrowing choices based on funds raised. If you want real, community leaders, rethink your criteria for stage and media time.
