So, in honor of Beltane, and because I thought you might be getting tired of the view of my desk, I moved us out to the porch for this picture, and thought I'd try a little something new--talking about some books I'm reading. ^_^ . I've been acquiring witchy books like mad these past few months, but thanks to a busy schedule and a winter-sluggish brain, I haven't been reading many of them. A few weeks ago, I saw a few books on other's feeds that struck me as books I'd want to check out: from @lovelylilacmagic -- Danielle Dulsky's Woman Most Wild and from @modern.mystik -- Skye Alexander's The Modern Guide to Witchcraft. So I downloaded the samples to my Kindle and started reading. I LOVE THEM BOTH. *_* . Even in those first chapters, Woman Most Wild had me tearing up from the sheer amount of "YES. I FEEL THIS. YOU SPEAK TO ME." that I was getting from it. Now that I have my own copy, I am really looking forward to losing myself in the rest of it. I suspect crying will be involved. ^_~ As for the Modern Guide, I've been looking for an overview book for a while. I mean, I'm pretty certain that green and kitchen witchcraft is the right path for me, but there's so much I don't know and I don't like that feeling of being ignorant of the other paths just because I'm comfortable with the one I'm on. And, again, even within the first chapter, I felt like this book spoke my language, and I think I'm going to get a lot out of it. ^_^ . And now the third book. Tom Wessels' Reading the Forested Landscape. I honestly don't remember where I saw the rec for this one and I'm deeply sorry for that because I'd love to thank whoever recced it, because I AM DEEPLY IN LOVE WITH IT. Not just because I love learning more about nature, especially forests so similar to the ones near my home, but because it's been forcibly reminding me of what I loved so much about science to begin with. I've been losing that lately, teaching people who not only don't like science, but are afraid of it. And this book is bringing me back out of that slump with a vengeance and I can't thank it--and whoever recommended it--enough. . So, have any of you read any of these? If so, what were your thoughts? ^_^
