Royalty. Sovereignty. Divinity. These are some of the qualities embodied in the Queen and King archetypes. To what degree are you embodying these qualities in your own life? Here are a few indicators. A Queen or King… 👑 Has mastery over their circumstances and choices. 👑 Is in service to a greater mission than themselves alone. 👑 Displays respect for themselves and others in the way they dress, behave, and speak. 👑 Uplifts and enables others around them to fulfill their highest potential. 👑 Cares deeply about individuals and humanity as a whole, striving every day to make the world better. 👑 Understands and embodies the qualities of God and the divine. 👑 Responds with taking the high road. There is so much you could say about these archetypes. These are a few things that really speak to me in this moment. I notice in today’s world the people who gain the most attention are often not embodying these qualities. They are often embodying the distortion of these qualities. For example the distortion of having mastery over your circumstances and choices is claiming victimhood. Social media is filled with loud voices screaming for attention about why they are the biggest victim in the world. That is the opposite of empowerment. True empowerment comes from overcoming whatever circumstances and choices you have to become better every day. That is often a quiet and unglamorous struggle because it requires hard work and discipline. And the evidence of that work might not appear overnight. However, a Queen or King is not in it for the glamor. They do it because it is right. It is correct. They embody the authentic expression of what every human is at our core. The Queen and King serve as reminders of what many have forgotten. However, they are always there as a model for those who choose to strive for it. As a Guide in a holy, royal lineage, I help people awaken these qualities in themselves. How are you embodying this? And where can you still grow? And what else does the Queen or King archetype represent for you?

Most adventures worth embarking on, begin as slender threads. Ideas, happenings, a coming together of moments. One of the more important moments in this particular collection, was when I decided to approach a tutor at The Art Academy to enquire about a bookmaking and relief printing course. Thank you Carol for your encouraging response. A completely new world of creative practice has since opened and blossomed in front of me, a world of seemingly limitless horizons, a world I sometimes wish I’d discovered many years earlier. Enough already. This morning, I removed the very first copy of my very first artist’s book from an antique French book press (found by chance a few weeks ago in a junk shop). The book depicts The Path - a series of woodcut and linocuts taking the viewer along my routes to work. The centre of the book opens out into a 3 dimensional representation of the path itself, before coming to a close at my studio. Making this book has been a huge endeavour for me. If good learning comes form making mistakes, then I’ve learned superbly well in recent weeks, leaving a trail of prototyping, testing, and at times a lack of patience, in my wake. The book will be seen ‘live’ for the first time tonight between 7pm and 10pm, at the opening evening of our Oaks Park Artists exhibition at The Vellum Mill Gallery in Carshalton. If you happen to find yourself in the neighbourhood - pop in and enjoy the art, it’s a wonderful show with 13 of us exhibiting. ‘From the point of conception To the moment of Truth At the point of surrender To the burden of proof’ N.
