Shakespeare and Company 37 de la rue de la Bûcherie París Os dejo otra recomendación para visitar una librería aunque en este caso sólo pudimos verla por fuera. Es una de una de las librerías más conocidas de París. Ha aparecido en películas como Antes del Atardecer (de Richard Linklater) y Medianoche en París (de Woody Allen) y se nota. La cola que había fuera para entrar era importante, ir con tiempo. Lo que más me sorprendiendo fue su ubicación, está justo enfrente del río Sena y delante de uno de los laterales de Notre-Dame. La imagen la podéis encontrar en la publicación sobre la Catedral de hace unos meses. Esta librería está especializada en literatura anglosajona y en la compraventa de libros de segunda mano. También muy cerca de la librería os podréis encontrar con la Rue du Chat-qui-Pêche que es una de las calles más estrechas de París, con 29m de largo y 1,80m de ancho. El nombre de la calle lo podemos traducir como 'Gato Pescador' y se dice que viene del letrero (hoy desaparecido) de una tienda que vendía artículos de pesca. Además existe la leyenda que en ella se podía ver un gato negro de un canónigo y alquimista que tenía una gran habilidad para pescar peces en el río con un solo golpe, y se creía que el alquimista y el gato formaban un solo ser. Tres estudiantes decidieron probar la teoría haciendo desaparecer el gato arrogándolo al Sena y la teoría quedó probada ya que ambos desaparecieron a la vez. He stays at Jersey (1852- 1855) before moving to Guernsey (1855- 1870) where he acquires Hauteville House which he completely renovates himself (it was donated by the Hugo family in 1927 and is today the second site of the museum).Juliette Drouet lives discretely at Guernsey, on the fringe of the Hugo family, at La Fallue (1857-1864) then at „Hauteville II“ (1864-1870). With his carpenters, Victor Hugo decorates these two houses and designs the furniture. In 1864 he makes panels, which are engraved and painted, using a technique without doubt inspired by some Chinese panels, two examples of which are located on either side of the main chimney. The characters, or the fantasy of the poet, play on his sources of inspiration, bringing touches of humour to intimate references: such as the Chinese person savouring a fish with the inscription Shu-Zan an allusion to Suzanne, who was Juliette’s cook. The decoration of the room was completed with numerous ceramics, furniture and panels, creating the atmosphere of the „old Chinese Holland“ which Hugo adored. Closing the night with the 45th anniversary of Manhattan, Woody Allen's romantic comedy-drama in which he plays a twice-divorced 42-year-old comedy writer who dates a 17-year-old girl (Mariel Hemingway) but falls in love with his best friend's (Michael Murphy) mistress (Diane Keaton). Yeah, most of what you've read would not fly today and Allen's own history further makes this film uncomfortable in hindsight.
