The 1986 movie “The color of money” is my #soundtracksunday offering today and is the follow up to the 1961 Paul Newman, Jackie Gleason classic “The Hustler”. This time Fast Eddie is the grizzled vet trying to mentor a young and talented Tom Cruise. The movie is directed by Martin Scorsese and lots of star power and did OK at the box office but just kinda fell flat IMO. The soundtrack is a good one but kinda a compilation a bit too. The big song was Eric Clapton’s “It’s in the way that you use it” which was co written by Robbie Robertson (The Band) and features Gary Brooker (Procol Harum) on piano. It’s pretty standard fair mid 80s Eric Clapton and that’s good or bad depending on how you look at it I suppose. Those solos were really good but also kinda typical for this point of his career. One weird thing about the song is that it starts right away with the chorus which I always thought was a bit odd. @martin.for.the.record what do you think about this song?
