Sinus Problems👃🏻Yes, CF does impact another area of the body…CRAZY, RIGHT?!?!?! 😳😳 It, also, affects the sinuses. The sinuses are part of the upper respiratory tract. Their warm and moist epithelium humidifies the air and tends to capture and filter out the good and bad particles that we breathe in. In a person with CF, the sinuses tend to be inflamed, aka a condition called sinusitis (most of the time it’s chronic). This causes multiple symptoms like nasal obstruction, chronic congestion and discharge, headaches, and post-nasal drip. Most CFer’s develop nasal polyps. These are benign masses that form in the sinuses that block the nasal and sinusoidal drainage. This can lead to sinus surgeries in order to remove them (polypectomy). — The other thing is that the sinuses can easily develop an infection, just like in the lungs. Due to the lack of drainage of the sinuses and CF, bacteria gets trapped up in the sinuses causing it to grow into an infection. To reduce the need for antibiotics and getting an infection, the discharge needs to come out. For me, Sinus rinses are one of the best and easiest ways to do this. This uses warm filtered water and a saline mixture packet that is sprayed into the sinuses. This flushes and clears out all the mucus sitting in the sinuses and nostrils and allows one to breathe a lot easier. Plus, it reduces the likelihood of an infection to flourish and possibly travel down to the lungs. — A good amount of the CF population has sinus issues. I did not get bad sinus problems until after transplant. I had one surgery pictured above. Thankfully I have only had one polyp since and they got rid of it with an in office procedure. My appointments have been going well the past couple weeks with no major changes. Baby boy’s head is still down and NST’s have been good. But my amniotic fluid level has continued to be on the higher side. So because of that, my doctor decided she would induce me at 39 weeks. At today’s appointment we scheduled the induction for Tuesday night! It’s finally happening, I can’t believe he’s gonna be here so soon! Originally I was hoping to avoid an induction and wanted things to happen naturally. But now at 38 and a half weeks, I’m so ready to meet my little guy and am looking forward to being induced. He could still decide to come before Tuesday, but he seems pretty comfy in there lol I can’t wait to finally hold my sweet boy 🩵

Vandaag heeft het team meegedaan met de noorderrondrit op de fiets. De start was in Loppersum waar ze vanmorgen al op tijd met de auto naar toe zijn gereden. Tegen half 9 zaten ze op de fiets om vervolgens een mooie route van 85 km te fietsen. Onderweg bij de stempelposten konden ze wat eten en drinken en bij de 2e post kregen ze zowaar een heerlijk kommetje soep met brood. Goed geregeld dus. En net als je denkt dat het deze keer eens een keer helemaal goed zou gaan!!!...Nee dus......15 km voor de finish krijgt Ruben een klapband😱. Groot gat in de band en geen reserve🙈 dus voor hem was het fietsen helaas gebeurd. @hdr_inc is impacting the lives of over 2500 kindergarten students during the 2023-2024 school year, delivering the All Kids Bike Learn-to-Ride Kindergarten PE Program to 40 schools across the country. One of their most recent deliveries was to Winship Elementary School in Boston, MA where kindergarteners were surprised with a fleet of 24 bikes, pedals and helmets, a teacher instruction bike with pedals, 2 metal rolling storage racks and a full curriculum to teach the kiddos how to ride a bike in just 8 lessons! Got word back today that all my labs were normal!!! Kidney function looks great. I’ve had imaging done before on my kidneys which showed a small 1mm stone in my left kidney. That would still be their preference to take. Next step is scheduling for a current CT, chest xray, labs, and social work eval. 🥳🥳
Lab work day. Had to collect a 24 hour urine and get a million tubes of blood drawn. Hoping for good results!
