📍Owen SA As part of our Silo Art loop of Oz, we dropped by Owen in outback SA. Although the Silo Art wasn’t one of the best we’d seen on our travels, the RV free camp in town was a little cracker! Add this one to your list when travelling through SA. But in true @dont_dyal_us_wer_travelling spirit, you wouldn’t believe that we happened to stay at the RV camp the very night the legend himself, @nathangriggsau was performing his amazing whip cracking show at the Owen Arms Hotel. It were the small moments that were glorious. There was a lot of hardship in travelling fulltime with 2 children and a dog while trying to make some money. I will treasure those small moments of happiness while they sometimes feel unreal. As if it didn’t really happen…As if only the photos remind me that it was real. I can’t help but wonder if I didn’t enjoy it enough, wasn’t present enough, didn’t love enough. Because struggle was such a big part of the last few years. Not belonging, feeling weird, trying to figure out our place on this earth with all the knowledge I gained during C*vid years about the world. KOA campground review Part 2 If RVing isn’t your thing no problem! The KOA in San Diego has you covered. They have two different types of cottages, cabins and even these large tents. This is a great place to host an even such as kids birthday parties. These jumping pillows were a huge hit (check my story to see Sage jumping) There is a basketball court, Gaga ball and a huge field. The second hike we did outside of Vegas was Anniversary Narrows. It was such a unique slot canyon! Totally worth the effort. Things to know about this hike: 🥾 Requires 4x4 to get all the way to the trailhead, which makes the hike easy. Korea has been a favourite country for its playful approach to public safety. Cartoon characters are everywhere; safety videos on trains, emergency procedures in public places, and in every store window. When a metro train is approaching, you hear upbeat trumpeting music. Best of all is the happy mechanical music that the garbage trucks will play as they collect the rubbish. We’ve mistaken them for ice cream trucks. We made up time after our truck repair delays in the Florida panhandle and got up to Nashville on time to housesit/petsit two sweet dogs @trustedhousesitters. Our trailer fit in the driveway of the house, and we enjoyed staying right in the city and close to the downtown area. This was our third trip to Nashville with our kids - there is so much to see and do in the city. We like visiting the Parthenon at night. It’s an impressive replica and fun to walk around. We legged it from Freo as there was nowhere to stay for Easter. Ideally a day or two to explore Perth would have been good but we left with no plan and ready for an adventure We stopped at Subiaco to find our very last giant and then headed to Lanclin for some sand dune fun! Although fun, being the start of a long weekend there were people everywhere, so a little overwhelming when your used to travelling in quieter periods. Next stop Pinnacles just near the town of Cervantes in the Nambung NP. These were good, but for us a bit of a instagram vs reality moment! We’d still suggest stopping by on the way through, the drive through is nice, but was a little bit of a miss for us. We managed to find a place to stay at Jurien Bay Overlow Showground. Fantastic stay. Busy, but plenty of space. Great playground, lush green footy oval, even had the Easter Bunny Sky dive in with eggs for the kids. $25 a night. A set of amenities of you need them. We didn’t do much over Easter. Spent time chilling and resetting. In just a few weeks our family is embarking on a new adventure: full time travel in our new home on wheels. My husband and I have talked about “living on the road” since before we even had kids and now felt like the right time to do it: the kids feel like the perfect ages for it, we already homeschool, we’re renting and do not currently have a lifestyle that requires us to be in one place. We’re easing in to this new life by spending most of the summer around Washington and then heading down the coast in late summer, following the sun and planning on a coastal loop of the country over the next year. We are excited and nervous, overjoyed to have this opportunity to explore and be together as a family and a bit heartbroken to be traveling away from the incredible friends and community we have in WA. How do you get your mail when traveling full-time?? We get this question a lot! There are several clubs and services out there who, for a fee, can become your authorized agent and received mail and packages on your behalf. They can even go through your mail on the phone with you, scan the contents of any letters you might need, and/or forward your mail across the country if you need the physical copies! I waited a *smidge* too long to set up our new address, so today included a 4 hr round trip drive to Livingston, TX to get the forms filled out and notarized 😅 Oh well! Lol Italian cathedrals never disappoint. The facade was 😘. Photo 2: De’Ricci De’ Ricci Cantine Storiche in Montepulciano - wine tour! A snapped this photo 😍. I told him he’s hired as our personal assistant & photographer 😂. Photo 3: Leather Bag Shopping - when in Italy it’s a must. It was so hard to choose 😩. I ended up getting the small one in red. Photo 4: Croissants & Cappuccinos - because Italians refuse to serve eggs for breakfast 😂. If only they knew how often Americans consume eggs 😖. Most restaurants don’t serve eggs for breakfast. When I told him Hubs eats eggs daily, he said “Aren’t you worried about cholesterol”. Sheesh okay! 😂 we get it Photo 5: Piaza del Campo - so beautiful & perfect to sit & relax while kids to burn off energy. A was running around here like a chicken with no head 😂. Photo 6: Lunch at Osteria Del Conte Montepulciano - amazing food. 10/10 recommend. Photo 7: Montepulciano - Beautiful view from the top 😍. Photo 8: Duomo di Siena - that jump shot was immaculate. It only took us one try ! 😂 usually we’d be jumping forever trying to get one of both of us off the ground. Photo 9: Cascate di Milano - Very beautiful hot springs in Saturnia. I’m still mesmerized by it. Except the water wasn’t as hot as I wanted. Photo 10: Bagni Vignoni - in the heart of Val d’Orcia. Those are hot springs behind us. You can’t dip in this water, but you can at Parco dei Mulini hot spring close by. This is a great place to grab lunch over looking the springs. We did way too much last weekend & I am peopled out. This whole week plus the weekend I’m staying in bed & sleeping all day to recoup. My brain & body are tired 🥱 This is why I love slow travel. No rush to see it all. If I can’t slow travel, I don’t want it. I’m too old to be in and out of anywhere. If you're doing any hikes in the Whirinaki Forest Park, make sure you visit the Mangamate waterfall near Minginui while you're in the area! It's necessary to drive a short way along a pothole-filled gravel road, so as long as you don't mind that, the waterfall is a lovely place to visit. There are picnic benches to enjoy your lunch and it's quite an off-the-beaten track area, so it should be a nice spot for quiet relaxation. We didn't see any other people while we were there (school day in April😆). The girls even braved the very cold water even though we didn't have towels!

51 Days. That’s how many days we’ve officially considered ourselves full-time RV travelers. That’s 51 days of “getting our feet wet”, 51 days of getting a feel for what this life is really like, and 51 days of living what we’ve dreamed about for a very long time. My mind is all over the place now that we’ve actually made this happen. At first it was a race to get as much planned out for the next year as possible. I quickly realized that was a bit stressful. Now the challenge is intentionally becoming a little more laid-back with the entire process. It’s also been a time of learning, for me. I’ve had to learn how to find some kind of structure within a very unstructured lifestyle. That’s been a bit difficult for someone like me who really thrives on structure. But it’s all happening just how it should. We’re finding our groove. We’re enjoying every minute. And we’re un-learning all of those things that have been drilled into our heads all of our lives. Meet @gabbettfamilytravels ☺️ We are an American family of 4 who currently travel full time. Last year, we gave up our home and belongings and after much planning took off for a 7 month adventure in Europe! We have 2 littles, Isla (3.5) and Ethan (22 months) and just last year alone we took them to 16 countries! (Our favorite country is Türkiye 🇹🇷 btw 😍 ) Currently we are working in the U.S.A (Ryan is a travel nurse), while living in our new RV! We love connecting with other travelers and traveling families, and are always adding to our bucket list. Our first trip of 2024 will be Iceland, followed by 5 more months of at least a dozen new countries. 113/366 What will today bring? Yesterday was tour to Osaka with a small promise to come back. Today was that “maybe” come back that was supposed to be a tour in Universal Studios for the kids and T. For me there was an ocean of opportunities to fill a day on my own. But it didn’t happen. The rain came already last night and could hear it this morning knocking on my window. I went on with my day, walking slowly to morning yoga, doing my 2 hours introspection and walking back again in the rain. It was a perfect day to embrace nothing - just to be and let every expectation go. It turned out that my body knew the same and my period came as a reminder to relax even more. So we went to eat ramen for lunch, buy some coffee on the way back and then I took a nap while kids were relaxing too. I managed to do some research for our time after Kyoto and when kids asked for burgers for dinner, I welcomed a short walk to a local burger joint. Moonta Bay - Yorke Peninsula - South Australia Yummy Yummy 😋 After a quick lesson from a group of grey nomads we were off to rake ourselves a feed or 2. We had ourselves a bit of a family competition especially between Flynn and I - but mumma took the crown 👑 ( I even got a blister on my hand for my troubles). How’s Krabi, Thailand?!🇹🇭 To be honest…. I’m not really sure. I mean that because the beauty of travelling long term is that we aren’t in a big rush. I mean the Airbnb is great. The weather is stunning. The people are kind. The pool is our fav. 💚 But, we’ve taken this week off to just be together. We’ve spent hours around the pool and the dinner table playing games and eating together. 🩵 We’ve laid in bed telling stories, reading books and coloring pictures. 💞 We ventured out to see a gorgeous sunset, a stunning fire show, and stop by all these million 7-11’s here. ✨ Maybe this week we will head to a night market, or check out the fresh water slide. But for now, we are hanging here waiting on our Forever Wild peeps to arrive this weekend. So, we will probably wait to do all the adventures together!! We recently started a new schooling schedule (6 weeks on / 1 week off) — So this week is an off week and we are out exploring and finding lots of fun things to do. This morning the boys and I visited a vintage candy shop, went on a “Pigs in the City” hunt, and stopped for a latte for me.
