L.A. Confidential Director: Curtis Hanson ••• Very good film. Loved the 50s noir style of this movie. Everyone was great in this movie. I forget how good Guy Pearce is as an actor. Love seeing Danny Devito in a film whether it’s a big role or not. Yea Kevin Spacey is a bad dude but man he can act. Really talented guy straight up. Russell Crowe is also incredible. ••• The story of this movie was very interesting. Three different detectives going after an unsolved murder in their own ways for their own reasons really drew my attention. Three different stories going on about the same thing was something I haven’t really seen before in a film. The 90s was absolute peak cinema and this movie just solidifies it as the best era of film (in my opinion). ••• The twists in this film were all very unexpected and it really kept me on the edge of my seat. The intro to this film was very well done with Danny Devitos voice narrating. The ending was also quite satisfying. ••• Overall, great film. Pretty much lives up to the 99% on rotten tomatoes. Great cop crime film This police crime drama follows some of Hollywood's greats- the likes of Russell Crowe, Kevin Spacey and Guy Pearce as police officers who take on some of Los Angeles' most heinous criminals but all the while uncovering a deeper corruption within their own department. There's little I can say in terms of flaws in this film. It's directed, acted and scored so amazingly and the suspense builds as the film unfolds. . Prometheus - Réalisé par Ridley Scott (2012) . Synopsis: Une équipe d’explorateurs découvre un indice sur l’origine de l’humanité sur Terre. Cette découverte les entraîne dans un voyage fascinant jusqu’aux recoins les plus sombres de l’univers. Là-bas, un affrontement terrifiant qui décidera de l’avenir de l’humanité les attend. . Mon avis: Prometheus de Ridley Scott c’est le retour à la science-fiction pour le réalisateur des cultissimes Alien et Blade Runner. Alors réussite ou ratage? Et bien un peu des deux en fait mais le film reste néanmoins très bon. Prometheus de Ridley Scott aurait pu être un nouveau film culte ou chef d’œuvre de la science-fiction car avec son casting prestigieux, ses effets spéciaux à couper le souffle et surtout son scénario qui s’annonçait comme une sorte de remise en cause de la création de l’humanité à la manière SF promettait un grand film. Mais ce n’est pas le cas car Prometheus possède malheureusement des points négatifs. Il ne faut pas trop en dire pour conserver intact le plaisir que l’on peut prendre à démêler progressivement les fils d’une intrigue qui nous emmène sur une autre planète à accompagner une équipe scientifique à la recherche des origines de l’homme. Les chercheurs sont enthousiastes, les experts grincheux et les soldats sceptiques. Personne ne doute qu’une telle expédition ne peut pas se dérouler comme prévu, mais voilà : il n’y a rien de prévu et c’est la première très bonne idée des scénaristes. C’est sur le scénario que les points négatifs sont surtout visibles où beaucoup d’incohérences prennent forme et un grand nombre d’éléments ne sont pas expliqués. Prometheus est un film qui pose des questions passionnantes mais à la fin le spectateur n’a pas toutes les réponses et se pose d’autres questions encore plus intéressantes. Dommage, le scénario est incomplet sur des points clés et le film souffre de cela. Si l’histoire semble parfois assez loin de la saga Alien, le réalisateur fortement inspiré de celle-ci pour créer cet univers: mêmes vaisseaux aux couloirs sans fin, mêmes planètes inhospitalières battues par les vents, mêmes équipages hétéroclites et rigolards, même inquiétude latente. Although the storyline is confusing af, its fairly obvious that the ambiguity was intentional as Christopher Nolan directed this film in reverse order unlike other movies which normally start at the beginning and end at the end but this does the opposite which can give a subjective view on things like you may trust this character and distrust another but someone may feel the opposite and also helps the viewer understand the Leonard as you never know what happened previously to him

El genio detrás de ella era Ridley Scott, quien no volvería al propio universo por él creó hasta 2012, con esta " supuesta " precuela que venia a contar sus orígenes. Scott recurre a un elenco estelar encabezado por Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba y Guy Pearce, para toda una puesta en escena asombrosa, elegante, maximalista y un guión lleno de enigmas, referentes al origen del Hombre, dioses ingenieros y misterios que quedan a la libre interpretación del espectador. Pero ni Ridley Scott es Stanley Kubrick, ni estamos ante una odisea en el espacio, por lo que creo que la pretenciosa trama que nos plantea al final se termina volviendo en su contra. Se aleja de todo lo que pretendía vendernos, se aleja de ser una precuela de Alien. Pero a pesar de sus muchas preguntas sin respuesta, es una gran película. Tiene muchas cosas interesantes, como lo bella que resulta la película estéticamente y lo disfrutable que se hace. La clave está en olvidarse de “Alien” y apreciarla como una película independiente, con sus propias ideas y alguna que otra referencia al mortal xenomorfo. ¿Que sucede? Que eso es pedirle mucho al espectador y, mientras personas como yo lo aceptan, otras no lo hacen y no puedes recriminar su postura. Repito, Prometheus es una muy buena película. Es bastante conocido que en los últimos años el señor Ridley Scott mete mucho de filosofía y misticismo de la creación y la religión en sus obras. Como una obsesión que le corroe, como la del rey Midas, Steven Spielberg, por los ovnis. Esta cinta de ciencia-ficción y terror es una muestra de ello, en la que un grupo de científicos viaja siguiendo las pistas de los llamados Ingenieros, nuestros supuestos creadores, en busca de respuestas. Esta historia, pese a sus agujeros de guión que los tiene, estaría mejor si cabe de no delatar su director que se trataba de una precuela de su obra maestra Alien, el octavo pasajero. Y claro ¿qué es lo que esperaban los fans más fieles de la saga del xenomorfo? Pues que al menos aparezca un xenomorfo. Aún así juega muy bien sus cartas en el terror basado en una infección capaz de destruir celularmente un organismo o transmutarlo en una criatura letal. Wow wow wow! I watched Memento for the first time just last night and I’m still at a loss for words! I don’t even know how to properly review this movie because I’m still processing what I watched, and anything I do say about this would be spoilery for anyone who hasn’t seen this movie yet. I’ll do my best to describe the movie without spoiling anything major but I doubt anything I’ll say will do the film justice. Memento directed by Christopher Nolan is essentially a murder mystery film about a guy, Leonard, who suffers from short term memory loss, trying to track down and kill the man who murdered his wife. Since he has short term memory loss, he has to use creative ways to remember everything that he’s already done to try and solve the case. And in classic Nolan-fashion, this movie is told non-linearly. I really don’t know what more I can say, especially since I probably need to watch the movie again now knowing the movie’s ending. This is now in contention for my favorite Christopher Nolan film along with The Prestige and one of the Batman movies. Maybe I’ll get to ranking all his movies one day. Anyways, go watch this movie if you haven’t already. Está catalogada como una de las mejores películas del siglo XXI, nominaciones y premios en Oscars, Globos de Oro, Sundance.... Poco más a decir.
