Any donation will be appreciated massively 🙏🏽 LINK IN BIO So I decided to take part in a 33mile - 53km Ultramarathon around Loch Ness, not entirely sure why, but it's a novel challenge I guess! In the early phases of training for this, I realised how easily I enjoyed challenging my body physically, but how I found it a challenge to speak my mind, express my emotions, or acknowledge if I was ever struggling mentally - leading to periods of bad mental health for me. It was with this realisation that I decided to raise awareness for mental health throughout my training for the event, by sharing personal experiences and information on the topic of mental health to hopefully encourage someone to talk if they're going through a bad spell, or to educate some ways based on science how we can help ourselves to reduce the chances of being negatively affected. These posts are saved on my Instagram stories. Additionally, I have chosen to equally support the mental health programs of two charities: The Nottingham Forest Community Trust and The LFC Foundation, who work with the communities and the youth of my home city (Nottingham) and my adopted city (Liverpool). Having previously worked for the Nottingham Forest Trust as a Community football coach, and now working for Liverpool FC, I have seen first-hand how football can be used to make such a large impact on the lives of those within the city communities and I’m really excited to know that both clubs deliver work to directly educate their participants on the topic of mental health too. Epic long weekend in Scotland, we were so lucky with the weather... Ben Nevis on Friday and @etapelochness on Sunday (and a very long drive home) tough going to get to the summit of Ben Nevis and super tough ride around Loch Ness. What an amazing experience and breathtaking views. A big shout to my buddy Ant for doing an awesome job and being fantastic company. [Aug 27 2023 Day Two] Left Kinlochleven earlish, great breakfast from the Tailrace Inn, nice room too. 2 key destinations; Culloden Battlefield and Lunan Bay for the night. We made other stops on the way of course, no we didn't spot Nessy. The drive was simply amazing, the views were memorable to say the least. Culloden Battlefield was great, Mum really wanted to mark this off of her bucket list. We took a route throught the Cairngorm National Park. So much to see, great drive, views were excellent. I picked up this book this week for 2 reasons; 1) I am kind of slightly obsessed with cryptids, and Nessie is a huge soft spot for me. 2) When I leafed through it, I saw newspaper articles scattered through it, scanned them and saw they were Nessie Articles, shut the book then cuz I knew it was mine. Couch to Etape Done ✅ 🥳 Didn’t think attempting to become a cyclist was on the cards this year but here I am head to toe in Lycra giving it a bash anyway! 😟 66 miles around Loch Ness with Dad today, very much enjoyed the route and tried to take in how gorgeous the Highlands are whilst also refusing to turn down on course macaroni pies. I can’t say I enjoyed the Fort Augustus climb… turns out cycling up hills is no funner than running up them, who knew? 28/04/24, Scotland Backpacking Day 10. Loch Ness 360/South Loch Ness Trail, wild camp a few miles past Dores to Inverness City Centre, 10.22kms (6.35mls), 55mtrs (180ft) total ascent. A cold night apparently as although I was snug wrapped up in my 25 Fahrenheit quilt when I woke at 6am to get an early start there was frost and ice on my tent and guy lines were frozen solid!!! Slow to pack up in the cold but once done continued through the plantation , looking back there seemed to be a lot of mist hanging over the Loch, then a small amount of farmland before entering a forest to Torbeck on the outskirts of Inverness where the SLNT finishes. Today was the Etappe Loch Ness Sportive, I didn’t know this till I saw signs on Friday, a 66 Mile ride around the Loch and as I was in Torbeck the 1st riders were due to finish there final few miles so took road into centre rather than River Ness route to cheer them on. Finished the walk at the castle, where the great Glen way finishes and after milling around for a bit watching the cyclists I went and checked into my room for a night early and after some chores went back to centre for lunch and resupply before heading g back to room to chill. #lochness #lochness360 #southlochnesstrail #hiking #backpacking #scotland

The alarm was set for 3am this morning, but I woke up at 2:45am, my body must have been too excited to wait to be woken in anticipation of @etapelochness 2024 4am pick up by @rgmtb_moray loaded the bikes and headed west towards Inverness 🏴 it was very cold 🥶 It wasn’t long before we were at the start line and off we set to ride the 65 miles around the mighty Loch Ness. A cold start, but the sun soon broke through and after reaching the top of the infamous Glen Doe climb I was rewarded with stunning views. Met up with the awesome @carolinev.life although we ended up getting separated and didn’t see each other again, but plenty more miles to cycle together soon 🚴🏻 An amazing event, with an amazing atmosphere and if you haven’t done it yet, I’d highly recommend signing up for 2025. 💕 My thoughts prior to next Sunday's 50k ultra 💕 I am so so excited for what I'm sure is going to be a day full of challenge, joy and many an emotion 🤣 Has my training been optimal? NOPE! The main reason being, due to factors well within my control hahaa that I haven't had the mental capacity for any long run over 2 hours. And rather than beating myself up and battling with it, I accepted it and tried to simply make up the rough milage by adding in other runs across the week which on the whole, actually worked well! So although I've not even ran a single 20 miler for this event, it's a very different vibe to a marathon, I am in no way 'racing' this and I've still managed to maintain a semi decent consistent weekly milage 💪 Some days I have every faith I'll cross that finish line and tick off a 50k distance...others I'm genuinely not so sure 🤣🤣 but I've got a hell of a determined mindset (all be it not a pretty one as I throw tantrums) and I am just so unbelievably grateful that I can run, be outside and experience these kinds of things.
