We had such a magical walk in the snow doing the Dores Beach, Torr Woods and Aldourie Castle circular this afternoon clocking up 4.5 miles and were rewarded with an absolutely stunning sunset with clear views all the way up to the Great Glen. I'm lucky to capture incredible memories for people right the way through the year, and 2023 was no exception. My last wedding of the year was on 30th December (photos to follow at some point!) And on the 29th, I was honoured to witness...and sneakily photograph, this incredibly exciting and romantic moment for Adam and Kristin! The couple have only been together for about a year, but when you've found your person, you want to be together :-D Kristin is from Philidelphia, but thankfully her remote job has allowed her time to live and work from the UK whenever possible. But anyone who's had such a long distance relationship will know that this isn't without problems. Hoops have to be jumped through, dotting between countries isn't cheap and you'll need to spend months apart. A&K had already spoken about marriage. They wanted to spend their lives together, so it would happen at some point... but Kristin definitely didn't expect a proposal on the banks of beautiful Loch Ness during their whirlwind trip up to the Highlands from Leicestershire. And poor Adam certainly had a stressful time of it! He'd emailed me asking about photographing their proposal on the 28th...but Storm Gerrit had other ideas. Thankfully they only drove as far as Loch Lomond on the 27th, so they weren't stuck in the crazy 11hr blizzarding delays on the A9. But road closures on the scenic A82 past Fort William still meant 4 hours of detours... and no chance of a relaxing lunch and late afternoon beach proposal in Inverness!
