Owen and I were huffing and puffing our way up Cervidae Peak just outside Boise, one of his local favorites. I was yapping on and on about how amazing the terrain looked for paragliding, wondering if anyone flew these hills. Not even 10 minutes later, I spotted a bright red glider launching off the top! The pilot quickly benched up a few hundred feet and was out of view until we hit the summit. We spent a good while sitting up there watching his wing dance over the sunflowers in Treasure Valley…very appropriately named.

Iceland road trip, Golden Circle leg. We left Reykjavik early this morning for Thingvellir National Park. TNP is where the North American and European tectonic plates meet and shift each year. Fun Fact, Iceland is both European and North American. More on that later. Inside TNP is Silfa Fissure, where you can snorkel and see both plates up close. The dry suits worked well, thank goodness because the water was 3 degrees Celsius. After the dive, we hiked along ‘The Wall’ from Game of Thrones to Oxararfoss, pictured here. ‘Foss’ means falls in Icelandic, we think. From TNP, we continued east to Strokkur Geyser. The geyser is very active, spouting every 5-10 minutes. Even more active was the wild influencer we saw doing backflips trying to time his picture with Strokkur. Down the road from Strokkur was Gullfoss, a powerful and impressive waterfall. We left Gullfoss for Selfoss. After seeing signs all day for it, we expected to find another waterfall. Instead, we found a coastal town with an authentic Iceland restaurant, serving a delicious hot dog. Emma and I are back in Bishop today running errands before we move up to Pine Creek for a week or so of climbing. We are spending the day cooling off in the river and I’m finally getting around to editing some of my photos from our time in Vegas. It’s very warm here so it’s nice to think about the skiing we did outside of Vegas in these shots. Skiing pow through ancient Bristlecone glades was a real treat, especially for Vegas! Definitely late to the party, but better late than never? 🤔 After all the countless times I’ve chased them or gotten up for Aurora alarms on my phone in the past, this was my first time ever getting to see them out of some series of unfortunate events. Nearly brought a tear to my eye getting to sit out there while the sky danced above. 💃🏼
Big scenes everywhere but always small splashes of color everywhere I went. Always reason to slow down to take it all in and if you swipe even more reason to slow down. This beautiful walk in a remote section of the park could have had a different outcome pretty quick, luckily the snake was just passing by and didn't pay me any attention.

Dad went to the market in the morning to get water and returned with this bad boy! Naxos is a big island (compared to the others) and it was pretty rad to drive this thing around it! Some of the fishing villages and mountain towns were really pretty; not sure if they enjoyed the loud sound of this thing coming through… Everyone goes to Santorini but I think Naxos was more enjoyable — less people, more views, amazing cheese, awesome Ouzo (albeit dangerous), and beaches!
