Nope! 👎 Um, Doreen, you just finished saying Add in some cardio…. Yup! 👍🏿 Cardio is good for you - keeps the heart and lungs strong BUT as the main mechanism in your fat loss journey…. No. If you enjoy cardio, do it for the enjoyment (and health benefits) But to see weight/fat loss; it’s better to focus on: •your caloric deficit •prioritizing protein •strength training •getting enough rest Cardio can and will burn off some calories but the other building blocks will do it better! I included a meme I found with a combination of heart healthy cardio And strength training! Do the exercises in order with little rest (as needed!). - should work out to be a 20 minute routine. You don't have to run or jog to look after your cardiovascular health. You don't have to push yourself to your breaking point to look after your cardiovascular health. To cardio or not to cardio...? . So many people hate cardio! But personally I think it's just that you haven't found the RIGHT cardio for YOU. . I can't tell you how many people have told me over the past few months they tried and failed to do the "couch to 5k" my response -- maybe running isn't for you? . There are so many benefits to cardio (which BTW have nothing to do with weight loss): ❤️ strengthens your heart 🤪 absolute mood booster due to the endorphins 🫁 increases lung capacity (aka more cardio makes cardio easier... eventually) 🔋improves evergy levels 🌿 walking, running, cycling gets you in the fresh air 🧠 great for mental health 🎯 you can get creative with your goals 💤 better sleep . #truth Running is freaking hard. But it's so worth it. I get more out of it mentally than I do physically (I mean, the killer quads and poppin' calves do help 😉 ). As human beings the very foundation we were born on is movement. In order to be healthy fit and functional, we have to move everyday whether that is walking, cleaning, working, playing, hiking and especially exercising. Our bodies embrace it (blood flow, endorphins releasing), overcome and eventually adapt to it (new lean tissue, conditioning.) The older we get the more things slow down (metabolism), energy levels etc.; therefore, finding new activities and ways to enjoy them is half the battle because hardly anyone wants to spend an hour on the #dreadmill . This is only acceptable to me during winter, but any other season you'll find me out here in the mountains getting my favorite form of high intensity cardio in! Here I am with my puppies doing a few sets of 40-step running sprints up this steep mountain side with the incline as it was making it pretty much like explosive lunges and bear crawling. Activating larger fast twitch muscle fibers. Damn did it burn ! But I loved it. Covering good ground with the uphill sprints, i did however have to rest a few minutes between each sprint 😅😅, the thin air made it all that much more exciting. Then a thunderstorm had changed my plans. I’m going to give you the best way that fitness/health guru’s will never tell you if you want to burn fat, and this isn’t about getting your diet right because everybody already knows that, this is about cardio. Stop doing the cardio you see on the internet that everyone says is the best cardio to burn fat (looking at you HIIT cardio) because it’s never going to work if you hate doing it because you’re going to give up every chance you get. Find something that you like doing as your cardio, could be dancing, walking, swimming, anything. I personally like skipping, and I’m not the best at it, but it works for me and even when I’m tired, I keep going because I like doing it. #FindYourCardio

Did you know that jumping rope burns between 7.6-9.8 calories per minute? For those of you struggling to find a cardio exercise that is fun, challenging, and easy to take on, grab a jump rope and begin. I started with two feet together. Length of time was one song or in my case one 80’s remix, 😂 Then work up to two and then more. Vary the style with runs, one legged, etc... I recently started running again after a long break caused by knee injury. Now I'm following some safety instructions and it feels really good! I have to confess that the environment totally influenced me to do it since people here run all the time no matter the time or the weather. During my break from running I found many other cardio and weight activities to keep me active and did not cause me pain (so now I have to make a proper schedule to keep up with all of it 😰😂).
