Well I wouldn't call my first sourdough loaf a flop but still have some fine tuning to do! Let's just say I'm utterly surprised it didn't turn into a puddle of goo! Seriously y'all! So I'm calling it a win! Sourdough Gurus: Issue number one seemed like the dough didn't want to rise very much on the first rise (bulk fermentation as the pros call it! 😃). What could cause this? I ended up waiting almost 13 hours before shaping. My recipe was for 2 loaves since doing a sandwich bread and it hardly rose much more in the couple hours I gave it before baking. It seemed like it was passing the poke test so I didn't want it to over proof. Lots of water gives you a steady supply of raspberries. Picking about 2kgs every other day. Takes about 1.5 hours to pick, I can understand why they are expensive. Time consuming to pick, lots of water and fragile. But spray free and delicious. Will be making ice cream, jelly and jam. Picked the last of our Tomatillos today at Homestead Hill and there were some “whoppers” among them. Great harvest this year, very happy with our harvests and the preserves we’ve made.
