Perhaps a controversial opinion, but I think Synecdoche is the late Philip Seymour Hoffman's greatest role he ever played, and also the only Kaufman film that can rival Eternal Sunshine. Emotionally exhausting from start to finish, grand in it's cinematography, and convoluted, almost nonsensical and surreal plot. There's really no other film like it out there. I know, at least for me, after my first watch I didn't think I could sit through it again, but I couldn't get it out of my head for weeks and weeks, and finally it demanded to be rewatched. Beck - Everybody’s gotta learn sometime —— 다은이언니한테 미디를 열심히 배워서 드럼 베이스도 찍어보고… 부끄럽지만 처음으로 제 목소리도 슬쩍 얹어보았습니다. 십년넘게 본 친구 앞에서 부르는데도 떨려서 목소리가 염소였는데 뭐 어찌어찌 녹음하고 또 어찌저찌 꺼내놓기까지 하네요 ㅋㅋ 추울 때 이터널선샤인 맛 겨울을 모두가 같이 즐기면 좋겠다! 하고 찍기는 부지런히 찍었는데 이래저래 욕심내다보니 시간은 가고… 제발 업로드 하고 따듯해져라 좀만 더 추워주라 나 기다려주라 바라고 바랬는데 역시 봄은 절 안 기다려주었습니다. 기다려달라 바라기엔 너무 늦어져서 촬영때는 인이어가 얼고 맥북이 꺼질만큼 추웠는데 이제는 4월이 가깝네요. 아직 감상에 빠져있는건지… 얄짤없이 가버리는 시간조차 제법 영화같기도 하고 그렇습니다. 어쿠스틱 기타는 휴대폰 음성녹음으로 대충 가녹음했던 걸 다시 녹음할 생각이었는데 들려준 모두가 만장일치로 로파이하고 좋다고 해주어서 스마트폰 음성녹음 그대로입니다ㅋㅋㅋ 그 조금씩 틀리고 하는 맛이 다시 각잡고 녹음하면 사라질 것 같더라구요. 촬영 갔던 고성 바다에서 휴대폰으로 막 녹음해온 파도 소리도 트랙에 가끔 등장시켜줬어요. 엉성한 것들은 들어갈 공간을 내주고 거기서 오는 따듯함이 또 있나봅니다. 아무튼 요즘은 촘촘하기보단 따듯하고 엉성한게 좋아요. 마음대로 이어서 엮을 수 있는 것들 뭐 대단치 못한 커버지만 나름 처음 해보는 것도 많고 너무 사랑하는 곡들이라 의미를 너무 넣어 그런지 제가 부족해서 그런지 아무튼 보기보다 꽤나 갈아넣었고… 셀프 갈리기 하는 동안 행복했고 열심히 했고 그래서 들떴는지 또 덧붙이고 싶은 말이 이리 주절주절 많네요. 유튜브에는 썼다 지웠다 하다 다 지워버렸는데 기억하고 싶어서 인스타에는 일기마냥 구구절절 적어봅니다. 할 줄 아는 악기가 기타뿐이라 화성악기는 죄다 기타로 대체해서 아주 마음대로 엮어봤습니다. 유튜브에서도 봐주시고…! 재밌게 들어주세요😬 #eternalsunshine #eternalsunshineofthespotlessmind #이터널선샤인 #jonbrion #theme #phonecall #elephantparade #stringsthattietoyou #beck #everybodysgottalearnsometime

La pelicula fue dirigida por Michel Gondry, un excelente guión de Charlie Kaufman, y el protagonismo de Jim Carrey y Kate Winslet. La película logró un éxito rotundo, a tal punto de ser considerada uno de los mejores films del siglo XXI y convertida en una película de culto. ¿Premios? Since I’m no longer out covering music 5–7 days a week, seeing two weekday shows is a rarity for me these days, and two consecutive shows by the same artist is nigh unheard of, but when Jon Brion makes a rare trip to Chicago, you DO NOT MISS IT. I feel incredibly lucky—and slightly indulgent—to have enjoyed not only hours of live music from Brion—backed by / collaborating with Jay Bellerose and Jennifer Condos—AND a relatively wide-ranging Q&A I found largely illuminating. I am also clearly out of practice, since after their set I saw Bellerose and ran up to him jabbering about how much I loved his drumming, and then saw Condos and could only resort to “your bass work is amazing,” probably sounding like a fool to both. Then again, shoving my foot in my mouth around people I respect is pretty par for the course, so... During the Q&A last night I did get to ask him to clarify when he was coming back to town, since at The Bottle he had hinted it would be soon. Sounds like while nothing is set at this time, he does seem interested in doing more shows outside L.A. in the near future. So, as with everything Brion, we’ll just have to wait and see if the stars align. #JonBrion

Sixteen years after I saw him play @hideoutchicago, I finally got a chance to see Jon Brion perform again last night at @emptybottle. I considered myself lucky, since Brion never comes to the Midwest, and I felt like I was going into last night as a seasoned pro…until Nora pointed out she’s seen him over THREE DOZEN TIMES! I have rarely been so jealous of my own girlfriend, but if I could see him play weekly at Largo, I would’ve made it a regular occurrence too! We’re seeing him again tonight for his brief performance and Q&A at @saltshedchicago, but he promised last night he’ll be back soon for more proper shows, so I’m guessing we may see him announce a local festival date or (hope hope hope!) it’ll be a proper tour with full-length shows! If you have a chance to see him, it’s a truly special experience. You can literally feel the music moving though him as he’s constantly following that internal hum of his. #JonBrion
