In this salad is mixed greens with pan seared halloumi, Cara Cara orange, cucumber, sunflower sprouts, crispy chili chickpeas and a sweet and tangy citrus honey vinaigrette. . To make the citrus honey vinaigrette: . 1/4 cup fresh squeezed Clementine juice. 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil. 2 tablespoons white balsamic vinegar. 2 tablespoons honey Salt & Pepper . Add all ingredients to a small mason jar, close lid and shake well. Adjust flavor as desired with more orange juice, honey etc. depending on how sweet or tangy you like it. Do you feel unmotivated? You know you’re suppose to walk but you don’t feel motivated to walk and so you are sitting, waiting to develop a zeal that would take you to your goal. Unfortunately before sel get to zeal, we have to develop discipline. Because truthfully not everyday we will feel to do something but the discipline of doing it, will create momentum to get it done and before we know it, we would have develop zeal. It's never just one thing with me. But the final straw was when I was diagnosed with PCOS August 2020. Right after my doctor's appointment, I contacted Shirley immediately and set up a consultation. I've seen her name mentioned in plenty of groups I'm part of and wanted to see if she could help me. It's been one full year and I've lost 38kg and 240cm all around my body, from size UK18-20 to a UK10. I was never “heavy” until I got pregnant with my daughter and gained 100 pounds!! Everyone said I would take the weight off easily once she was born, but that wasn’t my story. 😡 I hired personal trainers, dietitians, a holistic nutritionist, took vitamin B shots, did detoxes, saw a few integrative doctors, was hypnotized, took weight loss shots and metformin, got lymphatic, massages, and tried 21 + different diets and I’m sure the list goes on and on…. When my Mom passed I was depleted. I couldn’t sleep at night and I had -0 energy. My pain was so bad I cried getting out of bed in the mornings, my eyes were so inflamed and they were growing cataracts so my eye doctor could not prescribe glasses, the symptoms of my PCOS were unspeakable, and my inflammation was so severe I had to get an emergency cat scan on a Saturday because the doctor was afraid I was going to have or had a stroke! I hit rock bottom when Tony turned around to help me out of a lawn chair without me asking. I was so upset, I started crying. When he saw me, he suggested I call my friend Shelley because she was doing a program she was very happy with. I got mad and sad within minutes, but I knew I HAD to do something. I signed up for my program without knowing what I was getting into and I was completely underwhelmed the first few days. When day 5 rolled around, my inflammation had gone down, my pain lessened, my sleep was better, and I loved the program?! Fast forward to today - My inflammation is BELOW average, my PCOS symptoms are all but gone, my sleep is AMAZING and I wake up at raring to go every morning without an alarm clock, and my pain is much less and gone in some areas of my body, unless I hurt myself working out (which happens often because coordination is not one of my strengths). And I can get out of a lawn chair without help 🙂 And then there is that whole going from a 2x to a size 8 or 10 thing too! ✨GLUTEN & PCOS✨⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ Whether or not you should eliminate gluten with PCOS is pretty controversial. ⁣ ⁣ Some experts say absolutely no gluten while others say there isn't any research to back this up. ⁣ ⁣ So what do you do??⁣ ⁣ Let's look at what the research does say:⁣ ⁣ 🔹You don't have to be celiac to be sensitive to gluten. ⁣ ⁣ 🔹Those that are sensitive to gluten secrete more zonulin--a protein that causes the intestinal barrier to leak.⁣ ⁣ 🔹Gluten can increase leptin resistance. Leptin is a hormone made by your fat cells that tells your brain you are nourished. Increased levels of leptin produce more society and reduce hunger. Women with PCOS are already prone to leptin resistance. ⁣ ⁣ 🔹Those with PCOS deal with more inflammation--gluten can be inflammatory.⁣ ⁣ When should you consider eliminating gluten? 👇🏼⁣ ⁣ 🔸If you also have digestive symptoms and are working on gut healing.⁣ ⁣ 🔸If you also have thyroid issues, especially Hashimoto's (thyroid issues are common with PCOS).⁣ ⁣ 🔸If you have also had endometriosis--75% of women that eliminated gluten saw positive results in pain management. ⁣ ⁣ 🔸If you have any autoimmune conditions present. ⁣ ⁣ 🔸If you are also struggling with hunger, depression, and/or anxiety--which are also increased in those with PCOS. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ My thoughts 👇🏼⁣ ⁣ I do gut testing on all clients with PCOS or suspected and we always eliminate gluten during gut protocols, but after that, it's based on the individual. ⁣ ⁣ If you feel better without it, don't eat it. DEFINING PCOS🚨⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a disease that, in my opinion (and many others), needs a new name. As we've continued to learn more about this condition, we now know you can no longer diagnose PCOS by seeing cysts in an ultrasound. 😱⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ There are actually 3 criteria that were created by leading experts in 2003, typically known as the Rotterdam criteria that I list above. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ The big thing about this criteria is that you only have to have 2 out of the 3 to be diagnosed with PCOS. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ This is what created the different types of PCOS since women who had different symptoms needed different treatment. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ I'll be going through the PCOS types tomorrow 😊⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ In this post, I want to go through the criteria:⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 1️⃣Delayed ovulation or menstrual cycles. Anovulation is defined as fewer than 10 menstrual cycles per year or cycles that are longer than 35 days. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 2️⃣High androgens. This could be high androgens on labs (testosterone, DHEA, DHT, androstenedione) or the presence of acne, hair growth (chin, upper lip, chest, belly, nipples), or male pattern baldness. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 3️⃣Polycystic ovaries: There have to be 12 or more follicles measuring from 2-9mm OR an ovarian volume larger than 10cm in one ovary. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Cysts are tricky because ⁣polycystic ovaries can occur with PCOS, but they don't mean you have it. Research has shown that healthy women have polycystic ovaries about 25% of the time. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ It's important to remember that polycystic literally means multiple follicles. Each month, we grow new follicles, and then one becomes dominant. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ With elevated androgen levels, like in PCOS, the follicles don't develop properly, and ovulation doesn't occur. PCOS is a complex and multi-factorial syndrome.👍 As such, I doubt there ever will be a single cure. However, this does not mean that you cannot reverse it entirely and not have PCOS anymore. Think of it like putting PCOS into remission, which is as good as a cure to me. We need to focus on reversing PCOS. To do this, we need to understand all of the factors that contribute to the hormonal metabolic storm which is going on inside our bodies. ☕️ 🚨 Coffee update! Since quitting/ switching to mainly decaf over the past two months I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my acne and skin. I have not had a hormonal breakout on my chin since then. Literally my face looks younger. I have been sleeping through the night deeply, something that was always an issue for me. I’m down to just having actual decaf a couple days a week, I do still have green tea or chai occasionally but not everyday and I delay my caffeine intake if I will consume. Our grocery haul from Saturday… we were sleeping on our local grocery store (any of you from PA? Giant?) normally we do our groceries at Costco and Lidl but this time our Giant had amazing meat deals that were pretty hard to pass up. This whole cart is animal based (aside from a couple jalapeños) and the total was $110. Previously, metformin and to some extent thiazolidinediones were considered as drug of choice for PCOS management, but they had several side-effects, and controversial results were obtained about their efficiency, especially in non-insulin-resistant non-obese patients. Thus, alternative treatment options are now being studied for PCOS, including different natural molecules and complementary medicines (CM) for the improvement of their health, wellbeing and fertility. Recently, treatment of PCOS patients with different natural molecules, coming from nutritional supplements and herbal medicines, has attained satisfactory results with the absence of any side effects. In this review, four natural molecules, curcumin, vitamin D, inositol and CoQ10 are discussed for their therapeutic ability.
