Annoyingly the scales have gone up by 3lbs and regarding a recent post about how I know there are so many reasons for fluctuations, my previous ED mindset always gets in the way, so I thought I’d remind myself of some signs that my journey is working that have nothing to do with the scales; - My clothes are fitting better - some clothes feel looser, I posted an example the other day but also the trousers in this photo, I had to keep pulling them up as they were dropping off me! - my T-shirts are baggy on my body now! - My waist line is more defined and my figure is coming back! - my face and nose look smaller. - I’m finding exercise easier. - More energy These are just some of the things I can think of from the top of my head! Turkey chorizo enchiladas! My first home cooked meal of the weekend. I ate heavy and drank a metric ton of gin so it’s no huge surprise that I surpassed my goal to lose 2lbs for the week on Friday’s weigh-in, but today’s showed a 4lb gain. That’s obviously mostly water retention from all the bullshit I put in my body the last 48 hours, but it’s still a rude slap in the face. I also only did 2-3 workouts. SOOooo another week begins. 6 weeks ago I decided to once and for all lose the weight I gained after having Aiden. I’ve been working with a nutritionist, strength training, training for a 5k, taking a 20 minute walk after dinner, eating incredibly strictly, wearing a CGM, no alcohol and 8 hours of sleep per night. I started this account to help me stay accountable, and while the intent has shifted from weightloss to self acceptance to general health and back to weightloss, I’m still working on self esteem every day (thank you, therapy). Last night I wore a top that’s been sitting in my closet for months and months, because I wanted to be in a smaller body when it debuted. I decided to stop waiting to look a certain way and just wear the damn thing. Rave reviews. Felt hot as hell. I didn’t spend all night fixating on being the biggest girl in my group, or the chubbiest on the dance floor. I didn’t wonder if people thought I was dressed too young for my age, or worry that my arms flubbed around while I danced. I’ve worked really hard in my adult life to present myself as confident. But that doesn’t quiet the noise in my head — the one that tells me I’m either judged by people around me, or worse, invisible. I guess my point is…at the end of the day, I have to constantly remind myself that this weightloss journey is about my health. It’s about living a long life in a body capable of dancing the night away. My genetics will always make my body look different, but my mom didn’t just pass down her weight struggles to me. She also passed down her beautiful face and biting wit. And whether or not I’m still fat in a year, those things won’t change. In short, I’m actively losing weight but I’m also hot in this fat body.

CLIENT SPOTLIGHT: I always tell my clients that no one other than me and them, individually, know how hard and how much effort it takes to get them to where they currently are. This is a perfect example of that. Sereniti is diagnosed with PCOS, which leads her to having insulin resistance, excessive fatigue, an irregular cycle (which is now consistent!!🎉), etc. Losing body fat as women already requires more effort, now add PCOS on top of that and you have an even bigger challenge. But let me tell you one thing; It’s doable. I see her twice a week, with one day being in person and the second being virtual. In our virtual sessions, we noticed very quickly that her body will tell her IMMEDIATELY when something is too much to handle. To paint a better picture: She grew up a competitive dancer and is used to intense exercise. Despite that, she never felt well-rested or good. Fast forward a couple years to January, and we noticed that same pattern again. So what did I do? Reduced the duration of her timed sets, gave her a 15 minute cool down, and above all else, kept her at a moderate-high intensity. Figuring this out first is what helped her feel better but also caused changes. Currently, we’re at a point where her body is well adjusted, and we can bring up that intensity. I’m not looking to push her too far, as the changes need to be gradual, but she’s ready to keep going! That, combined with the discipline that she has built and continues to build, have led up to losing body fat and building muscle in a way where she feels much better. Then I topped it with garlic shrimp, tomatoes, cottage cheese (mixed with garlic salt, pepper, rice vinegar & cilantro), and spicy twisted corn chips for crunch. So good 🤤.
