They were issued to LPS units, which was a half-military organisation of doctors and medics in Czech town Lutín. 2. WWII Czechoslovakian FM-3a civilian gas mask from 1938. This mask was made in late 1930’s. It was the same as FM-3, but it was clothed from the outside. 3. CM5 civilian gas mask from 1996. This mask was made since 1990’s till 2013. Metro 2033, Metro Trilogy book 1 By Dmitry Glukhovsky Read by Robert Dugas 20 something hours Metro is by far one of my favorite series. Dark, introspective, post-nuclear, sci-fi, this series always astounds and amazes me. Artyom lives in the Moscow metro, which doubled as a fallout shelter for the Russian people. Little known fact, this actually exists - the Russian subway system doubles as a nuclear bomb shelter. How good is it? Would it actually work? Have they added on to it since the fall of the Soviet Union? I don't know, this is about the books, not real life, but cool nonetheless! Life inside the metro is a constant struggle. This isn't fallout with crazy nuclear power and magic food, everything is scarce. People survive off of mushrooms and pigs, who also survive off mushrooms. But it isn't just the scarcity of necessities, but also the irradiated, mutated, creatures and worse.... Other people. Most people believe these books are about Artyom, they are not. The Metro is a living, breathing, organism, and it is the star of this show. These books are an introspection into the human soul, how we react when our needs are scarce, and we are no longer the top of the food chain. Between religion, political ideals, mental illness, and just plain evil people, Dimitri explores humanity at its core, and does a fantastic job of voicing it. My only beef with these books is the translation, it's not always 100% accurate, and sometimes not even consistent. "Weed" is not weed, it's a mushroom drug that you smoke that still somehow gives you hallucinations... It is stated that The moscovites believe It didn't exist pre-war, although that's not to say they were right. Caucasians are described as "dark skinned"... Are Caucasians considered dark skinned to Slavs, or is this a mistranslation? I highly recommend these books to anyone who enjoys dark sci-fi and/or phycology. #MidweekGamingFaves I realized I never celebrated the 5th anniversary of Metro Exodus which was back in February on the 15th. My Co-worker who's currently playing the game on the PS5 told me he's been enjoying it and wants to play the previous games. I told him he definitely should to get a better understanding of the story and the world. I did enjoyed Exodus but I will say Last Light slightly have the better overall story. I still haven't played the Complete Edition on the PS5 which I told him I need to do myself. Przez dłuższy czas projekt był zawieszony, lecz nadszedł moment jego reaktywacji i to naprawdę w dobrym stylu! 😁 #paryżlewybrzeg to francuska wizja nuklearnej zagłady, którą powołał do życia #pierrebordage. Trzeba przyznać, że autorowi udało się oddać to, co najlepsze w całej serii: całkowite odczłowieczenie i konieczność przystosowania się do nowych zasad 😱 W książce poznajemy wiele oddzielnych historii, dziejących się w tym samym czasie. Każda z nich ukazuje inną grupkę bohaterów i ich przygody. Dzięki temu poznajemy różne miejsca w paryskiej linii metra, a w każdej z nich dominuje inna społeczność 😶 Powieść czyta się z niezwykłą przyjemnością, zwłaszcza jeżeli komuś nieobce są klimaty postapokaliptyczne. Czuć na każdym kroku brud, społeczne zdegenerowanie oraz utratę wielu wartości. Wielokrotnie zostajemy zaskoczeni czymś, co dla bohaterów funkcjonuje na porządku dziennym. Takie zderzenia bywają moralnie bolesne, ale jakże praktyczne w świecie ukazanym w książce ☢️ Książkę polecam każdemu, niezależnie czy miał wcześniej styczność z uniwersum, czy będzie to pierwsza przygoda w tym świecie. Lewis 📖 🇩🇪 Heute ist wieder der Welttag des Buches und wie schön und wichtig das Lesen ist, muss ich hier nicht mehr erwähnen, dass tat ich schon während des Posts im letzten Jahr. Diesmal soll es um eine bestimmte Videospielreihe gehen, die auf einer Romanvorlage basiert. Neben vielen Herr der Ringe Spielen, Witcher, Dune, Discworld, Call of Cthulhu und einigen mehr, existiert die Metro Serie, die mir sehr ans Herz gewachsen ist. Diese hat nicht nur dank des Autors Dmitri Alexejewitsch Gluchowski eine lesenswerte Romanreihe hervorgebracht, sondern auch hervorragende Shooter Games. Ein storytechnisch phantastisches inszeniertes Endzeit Szenario, das seinesgleichen sucht. Das beklemmende Gefühl die dunklen Tunnel Moskaus zu erkunden ist einzigartig und atmosphärisch aller erster Güte! Und das Beste, die Redux Version für die Switch wurde sehr gut portiert und spielt sich ohne große Abstriche. 🇬🇧 Today is World Book Day again and I don't have to mention how beautiful and important reading is, I already did that during last year's post. This time it's supposed to be about a specific video game series that is based on a novel. In addition to many Lord of the Rings games, Witcher, Dune, Discworld, Call of Cthulhu and a few more, there is the Metro series, which has grown very dear to my heart. Thanks to the author Dmitri Alexejewitsch Gluchowski, this has not only produced a series of novels worth reading, but also excellent shooter games. A story-wise, fantastically staged end-time scenario that is second to none. The oppressive feeling of exploring the dark tunnels of Moscow is unique and atmospheric of the highest order! Dzień dobry, witajcie 🙂 Dmitry Glukhovsky to człowiek, którego nie trzeba nikomu przedstawiać. Stworzył on Uniwersum wielbione przez miliony czytelników. Persona non grata w Rosji powraca z nową trylogią, czy powtórzy ona jego sukce Myślę,że trylogia ta ma spory potencjał by być jeszcze lepszą niż dotychczasowe twory autora. Tym razem akcja dzieje się w tulejach paryskiego metra. To tam skryli się ostatni ocalali. Kolejne pokolenia rodzone w podziemiach posiadają cechy, których ludzie pierwotni nie posiadali. Niektórzy są noktami i widzą w ciemności, jeszcze inni są ślepi lecz są w stanie usłyszeć dźwieki niesłyszalne przez zwykłych ludzi. Jeszcze inni widzą przyszłość. Nadzwyczajne dzieci są sprzedawane i tym samym pozostawione same sobie.Wątki te idealnie urozmaicają treść. Tak więc po lewej stronie paryskiego metra pewna osoba pragnie zrzeszyć cały brzeg. Wyrusza więc w podróż pełną eksploracji i podziemnych potyczek. Już na samym początku dołączy do niej mutanka, którą nawiedzają różne wizje. Nie zabraknie tu intryg, tajemnic, sekciarskich klimatów oraz nieoczekiwanych plot twistów. Zdecydowanie polecam ją starszym czytelnikom że względu na występujące tu treści. Jako fanką Uniwersum Metro jestem szczerze ukontentowani kierunkiem w jaki poszedł autor. Troszkę bałam się, iż ,, Paryż:Lewy brzeg" będzie odgrzewanym kotletem- zupełnie niepotrzebnie. Jest to powiew świeżości, który świadczy o progresie literackim autora. Jestem w pełni zadowolona z dusznego, klaustrofobicznego klimatu który znów nam zaserwował. Jeśli jesteście fanami Metra, musicie to przeczytać. The third (and final, so far) book in Metro universe. Better than the second, the darkest but not as brilliant as the first one. Please swipe right for a short blurb. This part is dark and political, the author is Russian/Israeli, hence deeply familiar with the most horrible historical events of the 20th century and doesn’t have too much hope for humanity (at the moment he is wanted and sentenced for eight years in jail for his anti-war position in Russia). Artyom continues his hero journey and this time he is slightly less naive. Metro universe is still amazing but shown from the lowest most disgusting angles, some scenes were quite difficult to read - they have nazis, communists, encampments and just regular horrible people using their power wrong. Finishing all three books probably the first one is better read as a standalone because after reading it you have a bit of a cathartic moment. And two following parts are not bad at all, just not that great. They released a new game based on this universe which takes after the third book and maybe there will be more books and the series will end as cathartic as the first part but so far I definitely recommend Metro 2033 and to read the following books only if you are a huge fan. #metro2035 #glukhovsky #bookstagram #bookishcanadians #dystopianbooks #bookreview #metro2033
