Hoy toca reseña de ✨CUANDO VIMOS LA LUZ✨ de @kalisdice.bookish porque necesito hablaros de lo increíble que ha sido (y que mejor que con un aesthetic para crear hype). . En primer lugar es un libro de DISTOPÍA con subtrama de ROMANCE, porque aunque la historia de amor de Ruga y Leo sea muy importante (y solo podrás fijarte en ellos) la trama como tal gira en torno al sistema que rige la superficie y el subterráneo y (como buen libro distópico) sobre cómo acabar con ella, razón por la cuál el aesthetic se centra mas en la trama que se desarrolla (a ver si podéis encontrar todas las referencias) que en ellos. Algunos giros de trama se ven llegar, lo que casi es peor porque te hace sufrir más sabiendo lo que vendrá 🥲🥲🥲, pero otros será imposible verlos llegar. . Sin duda la parte más importante y por la que más merece la pena leer este libro son los PERSONAJES. Ruga y Leo son los protagonistas y la autora ha sabido darles tanta vida y personalidad que es como si los conocieras y supieras cómo reaccionaran (siempre con alguna sorpresa). Son completamente adorables y te será imposible no enamorarte de ellos en cuanto les leas (o veas) ❤️❤️❤️. . Las ILUSTRACIONES son un puntazo que mejoran aún más el libro ya que hacen que las descripciones o narraciones no sean pesadas (cosa que me ha encantado) porque ya puedes verlas en la imagen. Son preciosas y ha conseguido que unas líneas moradas y negras transmitan emociones (y hagan que tú te emociones también al ver a Ruga y Leo). . Además de todo esto (si no han sido ya razones suficientes para que te leas el libro) es súper ameno de leer porque tiene CAPÍTULOS CORTOS además de muchas ilustraciones (aunque a veces te quedarás más tiempo admirando la ilustración que leyendo todo el capítulo). The way that the Audible version made me feel like I was watchin a movie just from the vibes that it was giving off. I felt like it was dangerous to drive whilst listening to this because the way that I had such vivid daydreams whilst listening to this in the car. The Broken Earth trilogy is testament to her ability to craft a rich world, with fully fleshed out magical and socio-political systems that are fantastical, while still providing thought-provoking commentary on the real world. I’m not going to lie, I found this series dense at times and did struggle through this book in parts, but I think that’s mostly because I’m a mood reader and was in the mood for something lighter, but it hooked me back in in final 100 pages and I couldn’t put it down. 🌟 Book review 🌟 Battle Ground, book 1 in the Battle Ground series, by Rachel Churcher @rachelchurcherwriting. Blurb in the comments 👇🏻 I was struggling to sleep Thursday night and my current read was a 500 page tome so it wasn't what I felt like reaching for. Instead, this jumped out at me. Its been on my 24 in '24 list after picking up a copy from Rachel at Nor-Con last year. Nothing like a dystopian YA about a 16 y/o female that's been conscripted to keep you up 🤪 I was hooked. Post Brexit and post Scottish independence, this world has no social media and no mobile phones. Teens are forcibly taken from school to fight in the name of the government against terrorists. They lose their unique identity and become just another uniform. The government fight to retain ultimate power to protect the UK population. I loved how this book touched on a lot of interesting things without giving you a lot of detail or presenting things in a certain way. It touched on a subject, then gave you room to ruminate and consider the implications. It let you form your own thoughts and gave a lot to think about. However, when it came to smaller parts of worldbuilding, like the City Killers and showing how the armour fit together, the detail was there to build immersion. The chapters end well, with high tension, gripping you and holding on tight into the next chapter. There was huge intrigue that kept the pages quickly turning. I thought this was overall a sneakily smart read that served plenty to think about, including with regards to authority and the misplacement of power. The themes are scarily relevant for today's world. 5 stars, would recommend. The Girl With All the Gifts - M.R Carey Okay so the first thing you should know about me before we get into this book is that I love all things zombies. Zombie games, zombie tv shows, zombie books, love ‘em all. So obviously this book really had me. A very unique telling of a zombie dystopian world. Not only that, children “zombies” that are intelligent and almost exactly like humans except they eat people? I’m so in. This was a really unique book and I loved it. I was hoping for a sequel because the end left some sprinklings open for a second so we’ll see! Citra et Rowan ne sont plus: aujourd'hui, Dame Anastasia navigue prudemment dans le système corrompu alors que maître Lucifer combat le feu par le feu. Thunderhead, lui, n'est qu'un simple spectateur de cette tragédie qui se forme, obligé par la loi de rester neutre. Mais l'est-il vraiment? . Dans ce deuxième tome, les choses prennent d'abord du temps à se mettre en place, ce qui donne un rythme assez lent niveau action mais intéressant en terme de world-building/intrigue politique. On découvre de nouveaux personnages qui nous permettent d'avoir un autre point de vue de cet univers, j'ai remis beaucoup d'éléments en perspective et, malgré mon faible attachement pour ce perso, j'ai aimé voir les choses sous son angle! On ne sait pas trop où on va réellement, on se sent aussi démuni et perdu que les personnages et puis... vient la seconde partie, et on plonge dans l'action! Les antagonistes sont particulièrement détestables dans ce tome ahah! Et comment finir sans parler du Thunderhead! Cette IA est juste magique, je redoute toujours un revirement drastique et pourtant... plus je tourne les pages et plus son monologue interieur est touchant, addictif même! Je me pose beaucoup de questions parce qu'on a l'habitude de voir les IA representées comme une menace dans la SF, alors qu'ici c'est tout le contraire! L'auteur a cette capacité à la rendre attachante alors qu'elle reste très neutre dans son discours (du moins au début ahah!). Puis elle s'humanise au fil de l'histoire et j'ai très hâte de la retrouver dans le dernier tome. . It wasn't as good as I remember the second time round, but I loved speaking to my son about books and having mini book review chats with him. He asked questions about language, and his imagination went wild, and he drew pictures of the glade and guessed what else could have been hiding in the maze and what he would have done if he was there. The book might only be a 3*, but sharing books with my son will always fill me with joy (even if all we are reading just now is Beast Quest!). I have the rest of the series in book form, but I enjoyed the movies so much I don't want to be disappointed with the books! The fast paced action made it hard to put the book down, It was so interesting. the writing is so good and the whole story is just fascinating. I’m satisfied with the ending, but it was still very sad. I was so connected with the story and the characters. And I cried a lot because of how much I already miss them. Where should I begin? Firstly, this was by no means as good as the first book. The first book was a mix of thrill and adventure and the mystery surrounding everything was something that gave the chills. On the other hand, this 2nd novel failed to give me the goosebumps and I would sometimes lose interest. The storyline felt dragged on and the phase two was a boiled potato. I felt like Mr. Dashner put all the characters and had them running around like pigs for nothing. It kind of got on my nerves and frustrated the hell out of me. It picked up tho on the last 70 pages or so; and more happened in those pages than the rest of the book. Although, I still feel baffled and the mystery has gotten old. The characters, well, they're an add to the story. I love Mihno, Newt and Thomas, when he is not complaining. I love their conversations and I really laugh with them and their Glader words. The Betrayal plot might appeal to you, the author managed to pull that off nicely and managed to distance two characters, completely. The ending? Confusing as hell. I mean alright, I love me some tight cliffhanger but this one was a bit too baffling for me to handle. Why does Mr. Dashner want to perplex the storyline even more?
