Itโs Tuesday and Iโm still absorbing the blessings of this past weekend with incredible humans. I have so many pictures/videos that my head is spinning. Who says we canโt get better with age? Interestingly, in my teens and early 20s I was a Division 1 tennis player practicing and competing 15+ hours per week. I was athletic, but I lacked the knowledge of how to create an effective strength & aesthetic program for myself. After a decade of owning a gym, training hundreds of clients and trying many things myself, Today I work out about 3-4 hours a week and take walks daily. Here are a few things I wish I knew back then. And if you would like help looking, feeling, and performing your best, shoot me a note! 1. Strength training is the most important type of exercise for both men and women. It makes you look better, increases longevity, & reduces risk of injury. (And makes you harder to kill) 2. Most cardio is a waste of time if youโre looking to improve your appearance. (Walking is superior for aesthetics, and HIIT is more effective for endurance) 3. Consuming enough protein is the single most important nutrition factor for both weight loss and muscle growth. Count protein until you understand what it takes to hit 0.7g per lb of body weight per day. 4. The next driver is total calories. Doesnโt really matter if these come from carbs or fat. After years of low carb paleo I now like to eat a balanced diet that includes both carbs and fats. 5. Sleep is a huge factor, and honestly Iโm still working on this one!
