Sleep deprivation in parenthood is common but it’s not “normal”. Sleep is “a non-negotiable, biological human necessity” ( @drmattwalker ) and I believe this applies to all humans, including baby humans. No parent should ever have to accept sleep deprivation as the only way and we need to stop gaslighting parents into thinking there is nothing they can do to work on sleep with their their baby. We also need to show parents that CRY IT OUT and SLEEP TRAINING are NOT the only options to get their babies to sleep, because most parents don’t want to leave their baby to cry. Long-term sleep deprivation is detrimental to our physical, emotional, behavioral, and mental health and I believe this contributes to widespread issues many adults face in these areas. Working on sleep from birth is what will help change this because it ensures adequate rest for the entire family and life long health benefits, on all fronts. When you consistently follow an age-appropriate daily routine for your baby, their needs are fully met, and they naturally sleep through the night, without having to “sleep train” or “cry it out”… You can breastfeed. You can bottle feed. You can hold your baby. You can rock your baby. You can comfort your baby. You can be responsive to your baby. And still sleep. I have no photos of you 💔 I have nothing, just a broken heart and some really sad photos that don’t feel right to share on your birthday! Two years ago on the 26th April, you came into the world way to early and left us with empty arms and broken hearts 💔 We never got to meet you properly. I never got to see your perfect face, no little button nose and no ten little perfect toes. I never got to hear your voice. I never got to whisper in your ears and tell you I loved you. I never got to protect you and I will forever hate the fact I never got to do anything that a mother should be able to do. So this week is infertility awareness week, could I really let this week go by without posting a special grid post about this subject … the answer is absolutely not! Since opening up about our fertility struggles and miscarriage we seem to of helped a lot of people, my inbox has been inundated with messages and I’ve been able to give so many women advice about getting help when needed, and I’m so happy that we are breaking the silence on this as 1 in 7 couples will face fertility struggles. Here is our story, after loads of tests at our fertility clinic we were diagnosed with unexplained infertility, I have very mild “slightly polycystic appearing ovaries” as the consultant called it but still have regular periods every 28 days and ovulate every single month without fail, Adams sperm tests came back normal , we were given two options to try tablets but the success rate was only 20% this is when we made the decision to embark on our IVF journey as the success rate was 50% and we didn’t want to waste any more time. I would say the IVF Journey has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through, full of ups and downs, disappointment, hope, excitement,set backs, pregnancy, happiness, miscarriage, grief and loneliness but it really is true the only things stronger than fear is hope and this is what keeps me going when things feel hard and gives me the motivation to try again, even on the darkest of days. I’m going to be honest with you for a second… . I get THE BIGGEST decision fatigue when it comes to what to post on here. . It’s so easy for me to get caught up in all the variables… . - will this post make someone stop scrolling and click that heart? -will this photo motivate people to reach out about a session? -will this photo prove that I’m worth what I have to offer? -will this photo attract the right clients that will appreciate my work? -will this photo be interesting enough to let Instagram know it’s worth showing to more than 10 of my followers? . Ultimately, no matter what the answers to these questions are, I’m still going to create work that I’m proud of. I’m still going to create work that is beautiful to me and hopefully my clients. I didn’t realize how impatient I was until I had children. We’d enjoy our breakfast one minute, and the next, I’d yell at my kids because someone accidentally spilled the juice all over the floor. Then I’d worry, Why do I have no patience with my child? How can I stop yelling? My kids seemed to bring out all these hidden emotions inside me! I wanted to be a patient mom, but parenting without yelling felt impossible in my day-to-day life. With God’s help I made major improvements in this area! I feel less overwhelmed when someone dumps something or asks me a million questions or does something to purposely annoy their sibling. But does that mean I never get irritated? Something you should know about photos in your home... If your child needs a bottle or sippy cup? No problem. Maybe they need a lovey or their favorite stuffy? No problem. These things aren’t going to ruin your session or your pictures. In fact, they are going to be the things that tug on your heart when you look at your pictures years from now. Long after Ms. Moo is gone, the pictures will remind you that she existed and was a favorite and was soooo loved. Please don’t fret when some extra “things” join in at your session. 3 months old 🧸🤍 The fastest 3 months ever. Jude has slotted in and it’s like he’s never not been here. Now weighs 11lbs 11 oz. Exactly the same as Noah at 13 weeks old.
