They’ve “discovered” religious trauma, I see. Here they call it a “growing phenomena.” No. I lived it and it gave me C-PTSD (also newly “discovered”) Some of us had to find our way without any validation or religious trauma informed counseling or help from anywhere. I of five siblings was especially effected which meant being gaslit and having my perceptions minimized and worst, completely denied. It was a hard lonely horrendous journey. My tongue was cut out from the beginning. My native tongue was silence and not saying what you’re saying. I left my native home and entered a world totally foreign to me. I had to learn to speak in this new world in spite of not having a tongue. I had to learn the language and the customs and find my way in a strange land among strangers. I had to survive this way. And I was a born writer and must translate my story of no tongue into a second language in which I can be heard and understood in words unfamiliar and inadequate to the silence. Recently a terrible truth was brought out in my native land that shed light on the imprisonment of minds and souls and bodies - an imprisonment I fled which brought me across borders into a world I didn’t know and had not been prepared for. This news touched the deepest pain at the heart of my unresolved brokenness and made me grieve anew the great loss to my family and the lifelong struggle and bravery I embodied to leave that country of my beloved. Now my tongue reminds me she was cut and cannot speak and my story does not matter. But I know - my spirit does not fail me - I must not listen to that mute child, the silenced girl. I must instead speak for her. I must keep writing. Darren Wharton fick sitt genombrott som keyboardist för Thin Lizzy. Vilket är udda med tanke på hur lite klaviatur som finns att finna i den keltiska rockbrigadens diskografi. Efter att Lynnot checkat ut kom 1988 debutalbumet under Dare-flagg. "Out of the Silence" är en alldeles förträfflig AOR-skiva. Musiken är tungt draperad i lager efter lager av synthar. Soundet är futuristiskt på ett sånt där kitschigt "bilar-kommer-flygande-på-en-Marskoloni" sätt. I min mening är det värt att hylla. "Abandon" och "Into the Fire" som inleder skivan är båda två kontrollerade adrenalininjektioner. Som brukligt med riktigt bra AOR så är musiken oerhört exakt. Trots en oerhört fyllig ljudbild med många lager och texturer är allting väldigt klart och kraftfullt. Många av låtarna börjar med läckra gitarrsolon och det läckraste av dem alla är det i "Under the Sun". Vinny Burns gitarr rinner fram som ett kvicksilver emellan synthmattor och accentuerande klaviatur. På andra sidan är Whartons bakgrund på den gröna ön prominent. I både "The Raindance" och "King of Spades" går det se böljande gröna berg beströdda med får om man sluter ögonen. "Heartbreaker" är skivans bästa låt och en förbisedd banger av rang! Den kan utmana vad som helst ur den melodiska rockens klassikerkatalog. Eggande riff, hes poesi om kärlekens prövningar och ett gitarrsolo som rasar ut högtalarna. Out of the Silence by Eduardo Strauch Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️ That capacity of the mind to embrace infinity ... is one of the most beautiful lessons that my life on the mountain left me with. - - - 🏔️ In October of 1972, Uruguayan Flight 571 crashes onto the Andes. Of the nearly 50 people aboard, only half survive. From there, it’s a battle against the frigidness of the Andes. Told from a first person point of view, the true story of survival on the mountain unfolds. - - I’m not knocking the harrowing experience Eduardo must have had but this was a pretty plain read. Some of the passages referring to the awesomeness of nature and its lasting effect of enlightenment on him makes sense. Maybe I have to travel to see the Andes myself to understand, but overall Eduardo’s retelling of his 72 days on the mountain were not greatly vivid or particularly moving. Honestly, I should have picked up another person that wrote a memoir or book about this particular Andes crash.
It’s #AORSunday again and what better album to feature today than 86’s almighty #Indiscreet from #FM - simply one of the greatest examples of classic British AOR there has ever been. This is one of those LPs that deserves to be displayed under thick, bulletproof glass in a museum at the top of a mountain; a moody melodic-rock Mona Lisa air-brushed with dazzling musicianship, classy songwriting ( #FrozenHeart, ‘nuff said), and spine-tingling, eighties-era atmospherics that instantly transport you back to a better time and place the moment you hear them. There isn’t a whole lot I’d change about this album aside from maybe swapping #AmericanGirls for #LetLoveBeTheLeader (but that’s a minor quibble in the grand scheme of things). The band’s next record is brilliant as well but “Indiscreet” just has a sophisticated magic to it that always hits the spot for me. If there’s a Holy Trinity of British AOR albums this one is right in there with #NativeSons by #Strangeways and #OutOfTheSilence by #Dare. Absolutely essential! REVIEW Out of the Silence - Eduardo Strauch The movie Alive really moved me and this is an account from one of the survivors of that terrible plane crash in the Andes in 1972. This is not a ‘disaster movie’ book - there is very little about the actual crash. Eduardo’s recollections are focussed on how they survived and the sheer chance at times of who made it and who didn’t. His memories are both captivating and horrific. It reveals the best of the human spirit to survive. The only reason I didn’t score this book more highly was it felt as if there was too much padding in the final chapters. It’s as if the editors asked for more than he had and in adding more it lost some of its impact. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Only got this out to wear when I went to see Dare in Leeds recently. Ok, it's been washed a thousand times, it's faded and out of shape badly. It had a lovely old smell about it though. I imagine I wore this in The Baths Hotel in Rochdale on many an occasion. I can only assume we went to see them in Manchester in 1989 and that's where I picked this up from. My memory of 1989 is not that good. ‘Vesica Pisces’ light painting caught 💯 in camera with @tessa.shields.pro - in celebration of bringing harmony to this Mars-Venus conjunction happening in the heavens right now. We’re day 9 into our creative immersion, working hard on all kinds of projects.
