To my babies, I wear many hats. Mama, Auntie, Miss Teacher 💗 To my babies, my auntie babies, and my students: Do it all. Make the messes. Scream at the top of your lungs. You’re only little once. Don’t waste it trying to fit into a box that someone else created for you. Now to all my mama’s and daddy’s, bonus parents, adopted’s, whatever your hat may be: This all goes to say, YES there are stipulations… I’m not saying let your child do everything under the sun without repercussion; HOWEVER, (Yes, I am guilty too…but we’re taking accountability and trying to fix it 😉) Let’s let up. Let up the reigns on our littles…just a bit. Let them make the messes, that’s curiosity. Don’t kill it. Let them scream sometimes, then talk about it. Explain their feelings, they’ve never felt them before. BAD kids don’t exist, bad BEHAVIORS do. They’re doing their best with what they know. Sometimes, “Ow! That hurts me, please stop” looks like a bite. Or, “Mom, I’m so tired everything is bad right now” looks like screaming at the top of our lungs. Everything our children do is an unmet needs or pure curiosity and willingness to explore. Children are meant to be SEEN and HEARD. I know, personally, I want my kids to speak up as an adult when something is wrong or unfair or messed up. If I don’t teach them to do that to the few people they feel safe with then how on earth will they do it to a stranger. That’s right 😉… They won’t. Let’s give our kids their voice. Let’s give them the benefit of the doubt. Let’s teach them and correct them instead of reacting first. I’ll do the same, You in? Far from the book title and colors, it is a story that resonates with the amount of love our children occupy in our hearts. If you’re not into self-appreciation posts, feel free to scroll past this one! 😜 But for all the parents out there juggling work, home, and kids solo while trying to nail it all, yet questioning themselves every step of the way, here’s a little shoutout: You’re doing a fab job. And you know what? I am too. Why the sudden burst of self-love? Well, today marks two weeks of me flying solo with two kiddos! Yup, something I never thought I’d be able to handle, but here I am, (I think) rocking it. 🤪 Forget about two, I’d never even managed one kid all by myself for more than a few hours before this. Then life happened, and Mr. Husband had to jet off for work - that too for a whole month! Did I panic at first? Maybe just a tad. There were definitely moments of doubt, but deep down, I kept telling myself I could handle it. Where did that confidence come from? Who knows. But hey, sometimes you gotta give yourself a pep talk to get through the tough stuff, right? 😜 Has it been smooth sailing? Heck no! Adulting is tough, and parenting? Even tougher. Balancing my job, their school/daycare routines, chores, feeding, cleaning, dealing with sickness, surviving... phew, doing it all solo is no joke. Hats off to single parents doing this year after year. 🙏🏻 How did I manage it all? Well, that’s a post for another time (if you’re interested in knowing, of course! 😜). But for now, I’m basking in the glow of keeping myself and the kiddos alive for two whole weeks, giving myself a pat on the back, and indulging in some ice cream (of course the kids are snoozing – forget single parents, no parent needs a sugar rush at night, am I right?). 😎😝 The pic? That’s from my goddaughter’s birthday bash last weekend, where I actually managed to show up on time, with two spiffily dressed kids and myself! Achievement unlocked, wouldn’t you say? 😂😎 I say it’s my love for my goddaughter that gave me all the energy and motivation to do so, and of course my friends who never let my spirits down. ❤️ Bracing myself for the next two weeks until the Husband returns. "Barbie are țâțe" îmi reamintește azi fetița mea de aproape 6 ani cu o nonșalanță in exprimare și o inocența in a sa voce ce a făcut șoferul de Uber să zâmbească. "Sâni mami, sâni are, e mai elegant să spui astfel decât țâțe." Deh, sunt totuși fiică de profesoară de limba română și om de cultură, chiar dacă sunt moldoveancă și mai slobodă la gură uneori. Barbie este fereastra dintre lumi. Dintre trecut,prezent si viitor. Puntea, podul, legatura văzută și nevăzută. Aș adaugă eu. Aceasta păpușă, actualmente cu gâtul nițel rupt, încă rezistă eroic după ce mi-a aparținut mie de la vârsta de aproximativ 8 ani. Tocmai m-am trezit așezându-i rochia pe umeri și am sesizat bretonul decupat de mine cu ani în urmă. Pentru o secundă întreg corpul meu parcă s-a transpus în cel al unei fetițe de 8 ani. M-am trezit mângâind păpușă pe cap pentru o clipită ca și când cand am mai facut asta de un milion de ori înainte. Picasso spunea că ne chinuim jumătate de viață să învățăm a fi adult, și restul vieții pentru a ne aminti ce înseamnă să fii copil. Eu aș spune că este nevoie de o singură jucărie, de un singur obiect, de un miros, o fotografie sau de o amintire puternică pentru a călători înapoi în timp. În cazul meu fereastra este păzită de Barbie aparent, cea de care făcusem mișto recent. Haios e universul asta, se amuză și el pe seama noastră la rândl lui. Dar totodată, ne și învață să fim prezenți. Atât de simplu e să redevii copil și... măcar pentru o secundă să iți înțelegi copilul dacă ești părinte. Să îl vezi cu adevărat pe el, copilul tău așa cum poate ti-ai dorit sa fii și tu văzut și înțeles. Ai șansa prin ochii albaștri ai unei Barbie. Asadar, dragilor, pastrati mereu o Barbie pe lângă voi. My kid's school had a lot of construction over the last couple of years. 🚧 This resulted in a new hug-and-go lane. 🚸 Before the new pick-up lanes opened, the principal sent detailed descriptions, pictures, and videos on how to use the lanes. 🚗 And months later, we’re still getting emails from him asking people to use it appropriately. To wait their turn. To exit in the correct direction. 🔄 Thankfully, we live close enough to walk. 🚶♀️ My husband often comes home and shares stories about a parent yelling at a school staff member who’s asking them to do the right thing. I can’t make other adults do the right thing, but I can give you something to listen to while you’re sitting there, waiting your turn. Being a parent means loving your children more than you've ever loved yourself. I vividly remember a night when I was utterly exhausted, yet I stayed up to bake cupcakes for my son's class party. In that moment, drained but determined, I truly understood the depth of parental love. It's about putting those little needs above our own often without a second thought.
