Recovery and healing for three days is what I needed. My leg’s and body feels good I can get can back at it again but my right foot is minor injury using a ankle brace. Shake off the pain walk it off at Mt Rubidoux with some friends. Before the walk went to the gym to do some exercises workouts. Restart my body once again keep it active and don’t get lazy take more rest days. Running this race made me feel weak working out lost muscle weight. Try to keep up the weight build some muscle strength I can’t be those “skinny runners” I need some meat in my body. Once my foot is fully healed going back to mountaineer but still run balance it out. More snow we’re getting this weekend plan to do challenges I’ve been wanting to do on my list in the future. For over two hundred fifty miles, this wild stretch of the Colorado River was a giant blank spot on the map, prompting Samuel Bowles’ famous 1868 quote, “Is any other nation so ignorant of itself?” To answer that challenge came Major John Wesley Powell, a one-armed veteran of the American Civil War who sought to be first to navigate the length of the Colorado through the Grand Canyon. The time is 1 p.m., May 24, 1869. The place: the Green River portage, in present-day Wyoming. The personnel are ten: Major John W. Powell, one-armed Civil War veteran, later head of the U. S. Geological Survey) and nine geologists, geographers, scouts, and adventurers. Their assignment: to fill in the last white space on the map, to explore the last great unmapped and unknown part of the continental United States. No man has ever descended the Colorado River — some 1,000 miles cut through impassable badlands. It is known that there are other rivers in the area, like the Dirty River and the Grand River, but their interrelationships are unknown. What lies along the course of the Colorado as it flows between cliffs 5,000 feet high on either side? Some say that there are waterfalls that dwarf Niagara; others that there are impassable rapids; others that the river flows underground; others say that it is a smooth placid stream, lined by horizon-reaching fields of wild wheat. 📍 Josephine Peak (via Colby Canyon) 🥾 8 miles (Out and back) 🏔️ 5,538’ elevation (2,100’ gain) The motivation to complete this trek began the day before, as I absorbed the outstanding views from atop Strawberry Peak. In the distance, I could see the fire road that leads to Josephine covered in snow. ❄️ My eyes followed the road up to the peak and much to my delight, that too was covered in snow! Decided to take Colby Canyon rather than the fire road from Clear Creek. It was the right call, as the creek in the canyon was flowing!!! This scenic route gains elevation quickly and remains steady until reaching the sombrero at Josephine saddle. From this point on, most of the fire road was covered in snow, only a few sections had some icy patches that could be maneuvered around. There was so much snow at the peak, I could not manage to find the survey marker! 📍 Mount San Antonio 🥾 9 miles (Out and back) 🏔 10,064’ elevation (3,700’ gain) ✔️ 1/18 (12 SoCal peaks/6 SD peaks) First trek of 2024 was Mount Baldy!!! After doing a sunrise summit a couple of days before Christmas, I wanted to get one more in before the heavy snowfall arrived. Although I am learning to enjoy trekking in the snow (the cold is my issue 🥶😆), I by no means am a mountaineer. However, I would like to get an ice axe this year!!! The conditions for this hike were perfect, blue skies with minimal clouds and little wind to deal with at the summit. Microspikes were needed right before the Ski Hut, as the trail became icy at that point. 📢 Group Trek # 6️⃣9️⃣ • 🗓 Tuesday, January 2nd ⛰️ Mount San Antonio (Via Baldy Bowl) 🥾 9 miles, elevation gain 3,700’ • • For the first group trek of 2024, the TTT squad decided to tackle one of the @socal.sixpackofpeaks, Mount Baldy!!! The views are always magnificent from this iconic mountain. I may be in the minority, but the best view of the day was that of a bobcat completing a successful hunt! Within a matter of minutes, the cat went from walking on the same trail as us, to walking out of a manzanita bush with a mouthful of squirrel!🐿️ To witness such a powerful predator display the stealth, focus, and precision during a hunt, it was an opportunity of a lifetime. We were so lucky!!! Leaving a toxic cbd business with my ex best friend. Kept it quiet for a while nobody needs to know it. It was between us two we had our personal differences. But all I can say that I’m a lot happier, free to able to go what I enjoy the most is hiking the mountains. This is where I’m at peace of mind. Where I get heal my pain. I can go out there to challenge myself find my potential what I’m capable of doing. It’s what keeps me alive and stronger. Now I get show myself what I’m capable of doing by doing Iron Mountain 100 Miler Ultra Sufferfest Marathon. Behind the gram I’ve been training for more than a year for this. 📢 Group Trek # 6️⃣7️⃣ • 🗓 Saturday, December 23rd 🏔️ Mount San Antonio (Via Ski Hut) 🥾 9 miles, elevation gain 3,700’ • • A snow and sunrise combo, that is what the TTT crew set out to find on a frigid Saturday morning, and that is indeed what we found. 🙃 This spectacle from atop the highest point in LA county required a 330 AM start time, bravo to everyone for doing tHat part! 👏🏽 👏🏽 We were also fortunate enough to trek through a winter wonderland, as many of the trees past the Baldy saddle were coated in snow and ice!!! ☃️🌲❄️ Not a bad view to marvel at when taking small breaks on that last push! It truly was a magical experience, one I want to go back for sooner than later! Unfortunately, due to the wind 🌬️🥶 and how cold it was at the summit, we were not able to get a group photo. “If it was easy everyone would be doing it” Anyone can hike Iron Mountain but not many can keep going through traversing to Mt Baldy. It takes a special breed of hikers to able to do it. To me personally it’s one the hardest day hikes to complete it. More challenging than C2C (cactus 2 cloud) or the Fool’s Traverse Challenge( 11 peaks ) in my own opinion. It’s under twenty miles one way over 10,000 elevation gain and a mix of high class 2 / low 3. There’s no way you can’t trail run it the traverse this is all hiking. Successful accomplished both summits. Didn’t have to call SAR(personal experience) and everyone was safe coming down. My 39th Iron mountain summit and my 8th Iron 2 Baldy traverse wearing this old school @trvrsoutdoors shirt @_kicks_rocks gave me. This is how long I’ve been hiking and I’m going back to do it once again. 📢 Group Trek # 6️⃣1️⃣ • 🗓 Saturday, October 21st ⛰️ Mount Langley 🥾 23 miles, elevation gain 5,000’ • • Last month, the TTT crew set on to tackle its biggest adventure ever, one of California’s prestigious 14ers, Mount Langley!!! We started the trek at 2AM, opting to go up the New Army Pass. The first nine miles were not very difficult at all. The elevation gain in that distance was a little over 2,000’, according to All Trails. We were able to catch a glimpse of a beautiful sunrise overlooking Long Lake! 🌄 The last 2.5 miles truly tested our minds and bodies, the climb was steep and a complete sufferfest. I just remember taking a 30 second break every 10 steps! It was a feeling of exhilaration once each member of the squad reached the summit. There was a look of exhaustion on everyone’s face, but we all knew how happy and proud we were!!! The views from 14,032’ above were breathtaking, so much appreciation and gratitude sitting at the summit, taking it all in. The trek back down was R-O-U-G-H, but we all made it!!! HOLY HELL was that a solid effort! We just completed year five of the most, umm…peculiar…mountain takeover California has to offer and we are very happy to announce that the damn thing went off without a hitch. We couldn’t have asked for better weather, and the vibe was historic. Out of 63 foolish individuals, 19 completed the 2023 Fool’s Traverse. ⛰️ Mount Langley! ✔️ Yesterday morning I was fortunate to not only attempt my 3rd 14er, but to also summit the 9th highest peak in California!!! Although Mount Langley is often overshadowed by Mount Whitney, the sense of accomplishment upon reaching the summit is equal to, if not greater. 👀 Peep Whitney right over my shoulder. This grueling 23 mile trek was packed with gorgeous views from sunrise to sunset. (Trust me I know, I was there for both!😴😂) Although the hike back down was brutal and never-ending, passing by High Lake, Long Lake, and the Cottonwood Lakes was so beautiful. Whenever I ask hikers about this mountain, the reviews are usually negative. I am not so sure why, a large portion of the trek is shaded and there is a cafe at the top! Maybe it’s the distance 🥾(15 miles), or the elevation gain 🆙(4,400’), perhaps the bugs 🪰🦟, the heat ☀️, bears 🐻 on the trail??? It’s always a blessing to adventure in our magical mountains and make it back home safely. I’m eternally grateful each time I can explore the beauty that surrounds us. Une première à plus de 4000m pour nous les 2 hooman, pour nos 2 poilus Rocket et Rancho et une première avec des chiens pour notre guide Stefano 🤌...la journée commence bien 🤣! Les chiens se sont parfaitement bien adaptés à tout (comme d'hab!)...pour les hooman, il nous a fallu un peu plus de temps et de patience avec le guide pour trouver la meilleure configuration pour toute l'équipe ! Rappelons que nous avons de beaux crampons aux pieds qui peuvent être dangereux pour les pattes des chiens ⚠️ Le seul conseil qu'on pourrait partager de notre expérience perso c'est de bien connaître son chien pour pouvoir anticiper ses réactions et avoir l'habitude de marcher avec eux en montagne...le reste ça roule tout seul 😜. The last time I did my personal favorite mountain it was when I attempted to do my first 100 miler my birthday month in February. I had to do seven full summits to accomplish my bucket list goal. Unfortunately injured myself sprained my ankle bad couldn’t complete it coming down on my fourth summit. Came back once again and felt really stronger. This time I’m going for it once again a minor setback is not going to stop me. Finishing what I started and that’s all my personals goals that I left behind soon in the future I’ll be working on them. The date is set I’m planning to go for it in October on my mom’s birthday making it extra special to celebrate it’s the best present I can give her. It’ll give me that extra push when I go past 80 miles the most I’ve ever done. I know I have friends that would like to help support me and it will greatly appreciate it. When the time comes sooner I’ll give out an open invitation anyone that wants to watch me go through pain and suffering or want to come along with him try to summit more than one. For meantime I’ll keep training for it and keep challenging myself. #BehindTheGram SUPERTEAM I gotta say this one was by far the best Mount Shasta experience regardless of what happened to the group of hiker. This has taught me a valuable lesson as well. I felt really strong this climb having over six hours of sleep helped me so much. Climbing the chute multiple times has been easier now my body is used to this. My confidence level has improved so much as well. That anxiety fear of heights able to control myself better without overthinking about it. The highlight was the last #PushForThePeak trademarked @trvrsoutdoors ice climbing to the summit. It’s was the perfect ice climb to do it but it was exhausting my body is not used it. We came prepared as always the mountain has their own unpredictable weather as we headed to summit it was nice and clear but once we made it the summit approach it dramatically changed the weather to whiteout and high winds freezing cold temperatures. Even though we didn’t get the views it was incredible and unique that we summit in whiteout conditions. Most people would turn around but we were determined to make it to the summit. That’s the mountaineer risk we take but the higher rewarding accomplishment feeling most people will never to experience it. Makes it extra special for us knowing that we did that crazy shit! 📍 Mount San Gorgonio (via Vivian Creek) 🏔️ 19 miles/5,400’ elevation gain Standing at 11,503’ tall, San Gorgonio is theeee highest point in SoCal. The climb (over a mile’s worth of elevation gain) was steady yet strenuous. This summer we climbed Mount Yunam at height of 6100 meters (20,500 Ft) in Himachal Pradesh/India. Words are not enough to describe how we feel about this hike. Fortunately we have socials, podcasts, history, metrics and word of mouth for updates. I fell in love with Podcasts while snowed in this winter. Basic Recap from a podcast regarding Mt Baldy Resort featuring Robby Ellingson on The Storm Skiing Journal Podcast 5/26/2023 It was excellent and I suggest listening. I have lived on Baldy for 4.5 years, worked at the resort for 4 years and learned how to ski here in my forties. There’s a Phase rebuild for chair 3 with restraint bars added on chairs There is a new chair 2 and an efficient loading zone planned Chair 4 new drive for up and downhill loading and possibly add another hold down. A new Chair 5 would run parallel to sugar pine lift as a possible gondola. Traditional chair 1 Sugar Pine would be utilized to load skiers and snowboarders quickly and efficiently. Eventual plan for a second zip-line from notch to parking area. Would be the longest line in SoCal. A lift employee skied to the parking lot from the Notch 57 times this season.
