Cheeseburger Steamed Pods- Bao Buns: Satu’li Canteen is located in the Pandora section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The canteen is themed to resemble a Resources Development Administration (the bad guys) mess hall, now a peaceful dining facility adorned with Na’vi art and cultural items after the events of the original film. What lured me to this restaurant (besides enjoying the movies) was the unique menu offerings, specifically the Bao Buns. I’ve never had a Bao Bun, and this seemed like a safe and ideal time to try them as this variety is meant to mimic a cheeseburger. An order includes two pods stuffed with plenty of ground beef along with ketchup, mustard, pickle, and cheddar cheese. There was just enough condiments and cheese to add to the flavor, but not easily visible to the eye and I personally could have used more cheese. The white dough was soft and sweet. This isn’t meant as a negative, but if I ate this blindfolded, other than the Bao Bun texture, the flavor reminded me a lot of the countless McDonald’s cheeseburgers I consumed as a kid. The vegetable chips were colorful and included a dusting of BBQ seasoning for flavor. As far as I could tell they seemed fresh and had a nice crunch to them. I’m not really into coleslaw, but I tried the vegetable slaw and that was also pretty good. The star of the slaw was the small number of berries, which had an intensely sweet and candy-like flavor. Another warm welcome to Foodie Friday! Foodie Friday is the weekly post where I'm showcasing places you should check out during your next Walt Disney World trip, places you should avoid, dishes that are especially amazing (or terrible), and dining locations I'd like your feedback on! One week ago, I was exploring Animal Kingdom before speaking at a conference in Orlando. And I ventured over to Satu'li Canteen. Thanks to often travelling with my family, and choosing to eat at Flame Tree Barbecue or Nomad Lounge, I hadn't been to Satuli since 2017! It was a time for another visit, because this is one of the top 5 quick service restaurants in all of Walt Disney World, as rated by @theunofficialguides readers and @touringplans users. In fact- it had over 750 unique reviews in 2023 alone, with an average satisfaction of 98%. That's a lot of people singing its praises. For my lunch, I ordered the Ocean Moon Bowl and prepared myself to be underwhelmed. The cost seemed high, and the description sounded _too_ fancy. Like it was just stretching a lot of ingredients to make itself sound good. Boy was I wrong! This bowl was the perfect fuel for a busy Disney day. It didn't weigh me down like barbecue, a burger, or even those glorious chicken nuggets from Nomad Lounge. Instead, all of the flavors were bright and light and yet still very filling. I couldn't even finish my bowl! There are plenty of other options for hungry souls here too, like other bowls with your choice of meat, base, and sauce (choose your own destiny!) and kids meals that may sound out of reach, but have flavors and components that should satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. 😍 A love letter to Satuli Canteen 😍 This is one of my favorite quick service restaurants at Disney World! I just love the unique flavors that you can’t find anywhere else on property. I can get something different every time I visit and never get bored; it’s all so good! So many reasons to love this place! 1️⃣ We love love love the bowls! My favorite is the chicken bowl with noodles and creamy herb dressing. 🤤 2️⃣ My husband shakes it up but one of his go-to bowls is the combo chimichurri beef and chicken bowl with salad base and green onion vinaigrette! 😋 3️⃣ We also love the cheeseburger pods! This is the kids’ meal, which is plenty for us, but the adults’ portion comes with a second pod. And there’s something about those chips that’s addicting! 🍔 4️⃣ You cannot beat the atmosphere here! It’s so peaceful and relaxing, and I could take in all the beautiful woven details for hours. It blends in so perfectly with the rest of Pandora. 😌 5️⃣ The soda machines are in the seating area, meaning your soft drinks are refillable! Our lunch at Satu’li Canteen during our most recent visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom was a completely immersive trip to Pandora – The World of Avatar 🩵 The long waitlist confirms that this quick service restaurant offers great quality, delicious food and drinks similar to the pricier sit down Disney dines. We ordered ahead on the Disney app and browsed the nearby Windtraders gift shop until we received a notification that our food was ready! Still highly themed, plenty of a/c and a good amount of clean indoor seating. After lunch we strolled through the Valley of Mo’ara and enjoyed the floating mountains, and the very life like fauna & flora!
