Do you know that in Greece.. ..we traditionally make these kind of dishes with one cup of oil. Yes! It's true. The typical proportions if you wanna cook green beans or okras or artichokes or dolmadakia are like this, you put in the pot one or two cups of olive oil. Greeks used to consume enormous amounts of olive oil in their typical mediterranean cuisine, which is both good and bad. Olive oil is an excellent source of unsaturated fats, which is great, specially in an omnivorous diet, but also it translates to really high calorie dishes. Now days, people prefer to put less olive oil, although it's common for a Greek person to never measure how much oil puts in the pot or pan. And as you already guessed, this is also good and bad. Good, because, you know, less calories, but also, sadly, bigger percentage of saturated fats for the new age greek diet. Not to mention how much the meat consumption has been increased. Lisbon food and drink round up 🍽️ just scratched the surface of this amazing foodie city. Also couldn’t believe how cheap the food and drink was in general! 1. Pastel de nata from @pasteleria_sanantonio - this one topped them all for me. The gooey slightly warm custard and perfectly crisp pastry 🥮 2. Spit roast chicken, chips and the best creamed spinach at Bonjardim. If you don’t book, expect a queue but it moves quickly. Simple menu, efficient(!) service, think we waited 8 minutes for our food to come out. All the waiters are older gentleman who just get on with it. Perfect meal after a long day. It’s salty - but so good! 3. Bifana from @otrevo48 - classic sandwich of thin strips of pork, with cheese and mustard. €3! 4. Bread, cheese and ham breakfasts @torelpalace_lisbon 5 and 6. Coriander rice @tabernasalgrosso - everything was great but the rice, the aubergine and the prawns in particular were 👌🏻 7 and 8. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Remove the core from the cabbage, then blanch the leaves in the boiling water until they are soft and pliable, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside to cool. Filipino Chicken Adobo🍗🌿 Ingredients: For the Chicken Adobo: 2 pounds chicken thighs, bone-in and skin-on 🍗 3/4 cup white vinegar 🥄 1/2 cup soy sauce 🥄 1 cup water 💧 6 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed 🧄 3 bay leaves 🌿 1 teaspoon whole black peppercorns 🌑 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 🛢️ 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional) 🍚 Salt to taste 🧂 For Serving: Steamed rice 🍚 Chopped scallions for garnish (optional) 🌿 Directions: Marinate the Chicken: In a large bowl, combine the chicken thighs, vinegar, soy sauce, water, garlic, bay leaves, and black peppercorns. Mix well to coat the chicken evenly. Cover and marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the refrigerator for best results. Cook the Chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or pot over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and sear the chicken, skin-side down first, until browned on both sides. Pour the reserved marinade over the chicken, add brown sugar if using, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 30 minutes, or until the chicken is tender and fully cooked. Reduce the Sauce: Remove the chicken and set aside. Increase the heat to medium-high and continue to cook the sauce until it's reduced by half and thickened, about 10-15 minutes. Adjust seasoning with salt if needed. Serve: Serve the chicken over steamed rice, spooning the reduced sauce over the top. Garnish with chopped scallions if desired. In this easy version we will show you how to prepare this delicious dish with chicken and top it with super tasty fried onions to finish. Bring to a boil and cook for 20 minutes. STEP 2 Shred the chicken with two forks. STEP 3 In a large saucepan, add the ghee and saute the onions until golden brown, around 10 minutes. Add the shredded chicken, zaatar, salt and pepper. STEP 4 Add the Kiri cheese and mix well. STEP 5 Add the groats and chicken broth. STEP 6 Bring to a boil and cook for about 25 minutes, stirring constantly, until creamy. STEP 7 In a spearate pot, add the butter and onions and fry them at high heat until browned.
