Venice, Italy 🍷 I’m going to Italy on Friday! Turin, to be exact, which I know almost nothing about - but here is a photo from my first ever time in Italy. I pretty much got off the boat and straight into a tiny little wine bar - well, outside on a barrel anyway. Este malbec @trapichearg PURO 2016, esta terrible. Si bien se trata de un vino sin madera, ha envejecido 10 meses sobre lias en cubas de cemento. Aromas a cafe, chocolate, mermelada de frutas rojas en nariz, dan paso a una boca de muy buena acidez, y taninos totalmente redondos; un gran cuerpo y final fresco, con fruta mezcla fresca y pasa y persistencia muy larga. Un vino para disfrutar desde la primera hasta la ultima gota.Excelente vino. Como.comentario adicional este vino surgio como una propuesta de Trapiche para ver las diferencias entre el mismo vino añejado en roble y en cemento. The best way to discover & taste has to be by tractor - the Stellenbosch wine tractor! My friends & I got to hop on & off the @wine_tractor for easy enjoyment of 5 quality Stellenbosch wine estates. We joined the tractor at Eikendal in the morning, making sure to grab some coffee & pastries at their cute cabin welcome centre before hopping onto our tractor. Our friendly guide filled us in on our first vineyard; Avontuur where we enjoyed a lovely wine pairing with nougat & fudge, back at Eikendal we polished off delicious pizza served by friendly staff before hopping back onto our tractor to visit Grangehurst for a tasting of well aged wines with nibbles, then on to Longridge for a tasting of their biodynamic wines before our final stop at Peter Falke for a wine tasting with a charming cheese platter as the suns setting rays gilded the vines with gold. By the end of the day everyone on our tractor had become firm friends, singing & laughing together as we rode through the vines on farm tracks back to Eikendal - our starting point. It was so much fun! I can't believe we fitted 5 farms in one day and I didn't feel rushed or stressed at all, as the friendly staff guided us the whole way and gently ushered us back to the tractor not leaving anyone behind. Thank you so much @wine_tractor for inviting me to join! I had visited all of these wine estates previously but never by tractor or with a group so this was a new experience and... I absolutely loved it! AOC Montlouis is one of the top two white wine appellations in France's beautiful Loire Valley wine region and along with neighbouring AOC Vouvray, home of the celebrated grape variety, Chenin Blanc. Montlouis is sandwiched between the great River Loire to the north and the River Cher to the south and produces some superb still and sparkling Chenin Blanc white wines, thanks to some innovative winegrowers, in particularly Jacky Blot. Jacky is a real icon in the Loire wine region and one of the world’s greatest exponents of the Chenin blanc grape variety, but he sadly passed away in May 2023, leaving his wine estate, Domaine de la Taille aux Loups, in the capable hands of his son. We visited the estate and enjoyed a fabulous wine tasting - and of course made time to visit one of the Loire's most famous and beautiful Renaissance castles, Château de Chenonceau! One of my favorite wineries in Sonoma is @scribewinery. I’ve been wanting to visit this one for a while after I first tried their rose’ at a wine event. Luckily I got the chance to visit a few months ago and can say the entire experience was flawless from start to finish. We opted for the Hacienda tasting which is hosted in their restored, historic farm house decorated Wabi Sabi style, the appreciation of imperfect/unpolished beauty. Most of the home was kept in its original condition from the stone pillars to peeling paint and vintage wallpaper combined with modern decor. In short, it’s an Instagram photo shoot dream. This experience is a curated tasting of 4 wines customized to your unique preferences from their rotating wine offerings alongside practically a feast of farm to table courses from their garden. Come here hungry because the portions are large! I was expecting just small bites, typical with most food/wine pairings. But I was so wrong, it’s a full-on meal. Would not recommend getting lunch before like I did. I honestly loved all the wines that I tried here. I felt like they did a really good job on their lighter to medium body red wines such as their St. Laurent and several of their Pinot Noirs. Their rose’ will always be one of my favorites as well. I couldn’t decide which I liked more, their sparkling or still rose’ but each is wonderful on their own. But ended up getting a bottle or two of practically everything I tried.
