Are you a worrier? I used to be a huge worrier. I would think: what if this happens or that happens, and let my mind wander. I’ve read that worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair. It keeps you moving but doesn’t get you anywhere! Most times, we worry about things that are out of our control, which makes it even more useless to worry. Growing up, we had a magnet on our fridge which stated “Never Borrow Sorrow from Tomorrow”. One statistic says that only about 8% of the things people worry about come true. In other words, less than one in 10 things you stress about is actually worth it. The Word of God says it this way in Matthew 6:34 - “Refuse to worry about tomorrow, but deal with each challenge that comes your way, one day at a time. Tomorrow will take care of itself.” The next time you begin to worry, make it a prayer instead, and leave it with Jesus. He will take care of the details for you. This absolutely is something I have struggled with most of my life. Now that I’m older and wiser, and the more I pray, the clearer I do think before reacting and being sorry about it later on. I believe it comes with maturity. I take every day now, just, day by day and what used to hurt me, still does. That, for me, mainly is rejection. Especially when it comes to the people I love the most. But I have also come to the conclusion that, I am not being rejected because of me, it is because of them. He is my shelter… . “I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”- Psalms 91:2 NKJV . God is our refuge and our fortress. How awesome is that? A place of refuge is a place we can seek shelter for protection when we are in danger and it is a place where to rest and recharge and a fortress is a military stronghold. This speaks of God’s strength and ability to protect us, but there is so much more. . Psalms 46:1 also tells us that God is our “strength” and He is our “ever-present help in trouble”. So often we feel like we are facing things on our own, but we aren’t supposed to. Not only is God our protector, He said He will be with us and He will strengthen us. That means that when we face our struggles, we aren’t along. He is with us and He will face them empowered and equipped in and through Him. Every challenge we face, every struggle we go through, every trial we endure, we do it with Him - never alone. Hebrews 13:5-6 . Don’t ever think, “This is too hard”, or “I’ll never get through this”, or anything else that might get you down. God promises to be your shelter, He promises to be your strength, He promised to be with you and and He promises to be your very present help. That means His is always close by and never somewhere far away. . Press into Him today. He is with you every step of the way and He isn’t going anywhere else. Saw this on my walk today and I had to share because I feel like many of us, myself included feel such shame having to start again. 🕊️✨ Today was such a special day for my little Addison as she made her first reconciliation. Watching her receive this beautiful sacrament, It made my heart so happy. ❤️The simplicity yet deep significance of seeking forgiveness. We’ve all stumbled and made mistakes, and today, I tried my best to explain to Addison the importance of being truly sorry and committing not to repeat those errors. But the most beautiful lesson is understanding that when we ask for forgiveness sincerely, God forgives us and restores our righteousness. He loves you just the way you are. You are perfect in his eyes and mine too. And as the good Lord grants us forgiveness unconditionally, we, too, should extend this grace to others. Blessed to be a blessing… . "Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread. The godly always give generous loans to others, and their children are a blessing." - Psalms 37:25-26 NLT . David writes this Psalm as an old man and he indicates that he has witnessed time and time again God honour those who live for Him. What an amazing picture he paints — they are never abandoned and their children never beg for bread. Not only that, he sees the evidence of God’s generational blessing on their lives because he says that even their children are a blessing. . It’s easy for us to recognise that we are blessed by God, but what many don’t realise is that the blessing isn’t just supposed to stick with us — we are blessed to be a blessing. Many times throughout the Bible we see verses that speak about this. Here are a couple of examples: “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed” (Proverbs 11:25-26 NIV) “And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” (2 Corinthians 9:8-11 NLT) . Don’t ever feel that you need to hold onto everything tightly. If you struggle with generosity, ask Father to help you become more like Him. It will require faith and trust as well as obedience on your part, but as you bless others, you will begin to see God’s blessings increase in your life in a way that could only be attributed to Him. . When I’m in their presence something inside of me ceases. My breath deepens and I essentially melt 😌 My striving ceases and I just settle into the moment. It is a beautiful reminder of how hard I often work to lean on my own understanding and strength. To cease striving. The command “cease striving” comes from the Hebrew imperative verb meaning “sink down, let drop, relax.” Pastor Chuck Swindoil says this, “The psalmist’s inner battle with the grind of personal weakness, recorded in Psalm 46, ended with a truce. He arrived at a critical decision that required every ounce of faith he could muster. He decided to withdraw from battle.” Within our own struggles we can acknowledge defeat and our human weakness and let God do His work. Often we have no other choice but to allow this. Gods ok with this, He is always there waiting for us to reach out and ask Him to tap into His strength. Are you fighting a battle and find yourself with nowhere else to turn? I may not look put together in this photo but this photo to me screams success from the highest mountains…there are so many internal and externals battles I have been facing for years, months or even weeks that have required me to put in work with: communication to others; intentions to better my thoughts/actions towards myself; setting even more boundaries for my protection physically/mentally/emotionally/spiritually and learning to be assertive and not aggressive in many things. I feel like a new me, a better me, a stronger and improved me. I’m not sharing this for attention or anyone to check in on me etc. I’m sharing most importantly for ME so I can look back in hard times and recall “I can do hard things, remember that time that you were scared to but forced yourself outta your comfort zone and blossomed?” But also to share with others you have options, you have people who want to connect with you and care for you, sometimes or maybe most the time things don’t look or happen like you imagined it or wanted it to be but usually in my experience when I let go and let God in I am blessed beyond measure and greater than I could’ve imagined for myself.
