I remember when I signed my contract to come back again. I could have stayed ethereal floating dust yet I choose to descend through the prayers of my kin, I had to come back to help them ascend and truth be told I wanted to experience the sensation of skin and all emotions again. Most of you forgot that we are descendants from distant stars from galaxies only the creator could conceive and were birthed from the ancient sunken seas. Molded back into shape by the pressure of many planets and species of this galaxy. I remember I remember I remember Every time I speak or pick up a pen. Everyday a star is born. So don’t you forget again. Remember Remember Remember That you may be an ancient one too. Do not let the traumas and cycles lose you in their loop. I’ve been asked several times which character was the easiest to write and which was the hardest. I’d be curious to hear your guess…Skyla was the easiest POV character to write. She is the first character I started with, the one I knew the best, and the one I crafted this story around. Hinata was interesting because he wasn’t hard to write, but bringing him to life was tricky. This type of rule-following character can come off as boring if you're not careful and it took some work in editing to make sure he came across the way I wanted him to. Finally, we have Freyja, she was the hardest of my POV characters to write. I knew her place in the story but didn’t get to know her until the end of draft one. I had always planned on there being twelve tribes of humanity in the Sentient Stars universe. I had wanted the two central tribes represented in Umbra to be based on ancient warrior societies and ultimately went with the Vikings and Sammarai. That left me with ten tribes to assign. I decided to pull current space program budgets by country to help me decide which countries were likely to be the commanders of fleets in the near future. 5 Days until Umbra comes out! Fun fact: When I finished the first draft of Umbra it was just under 82K words. The final draft comes in at 100K. It's safe to say I'm an under writer.
