My attempt at twisted tree pose, the challenge pose presented by @fitforlife_vegan this week. Not a great effort but, in a very non yoga like way, I’ve been discombobulated mentally this week because my usual spot to practice yoga is my basement, which suffered some water damage during some big storms last week. hello again, #ericeira. back to leading our 200h intensive yoga teacher training with my girls @teresawohlmannstetter, @lily_wild_yoga and @nina__vukas. this week the focus has been the #anatomy, #physiology and #biomechanics of the body, as we move through the @spanda.institute methodology #virabhadrasana2 is always a fun one 😏. whether you laterally flex the spine (as in #reversewarrior captured by @sanjinkastelan here 📸) or not, the base is always the same: we are moving mostly in the frontal plane, both our hips are abducted (nerd for 'moving away from the midline') and the front hip is flexed and externally rotated for sure. but this is as far as we'll go when it comes to certainties. is the back hip rotated at all? 🤷🏽♂️ is it also extended? it depends! it depends on your unique bodymind. it depends on so many things. regardless, we use this understanding to sequence similar asanas together. and, yes, you can catch me spending a whole morning exploring these things with the wonderful group of trainees we have, yet again 🙇🏽♂️. we're so blessed and grateful for their interest, insights, critical thinking, willingness to learn and shift paradigms. if this resonates with you, we have plenty more trainings happening in different countries. the link is in my bio. come be a part of the growing #spandasangha.
