📚 Book Review 📚 May Day by @jesslourey Goodreads: 3.49 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 4/5 ⭐️’s I am one of Jess Lourey’s number one fans! If she wrote a recipe, I would read it. I was super excited when I received her promo box for May Day! It was my first promo box and it was filled with so much goodness! While reading the book I was fondly taken back to the promo box items. I loved that they tied in together. Don’t forget to swipe to see the amazing promo box I received 💕💕💕 Mira Lake has not had it easy, she has a past, a dead end job and a cheating boyfriend. An opportunity arises for her to go to Battle Lake and essentially start over so she takes it! She immediately lands two part time jobs (at the library and a part time reporter for the newspaper) and meets a wonderful guy, Jeff. Things are definitely looking up until Jeff is found dead by Mira at the library where she works! Mira investigates his death wondering where it will take her. This was a quick, cozy mystery read. I love the quirky town and people of Battle Lake. I loved Lourey’s writing and the way she describes ordinary items. Mira is a super likable character that you genuinely root for. This is the first book in the Murder by Month series of twelve in total. I look forward to reading them all! Fun Fact: Battle Lake is a real town in Minnesota AND they have a bookstore with a Mira Lake book club at @lionseedbooks! So fun!! A beautiful Sunday afternoon in our disheveled garden. During a meeting yesterday, I was asked why I have baby chicks when I’m a children’s author. Of course it makes total sense to me, but the gentleman was perplexed which made me wonder if others might be puzzled too. Short answer: Chick & Duckling are our main characters in ten Railfence Bunch books. Long answer: As an educator, I often shared chicks with my students. This author can craft a story that keeps the reader engaged, & invested from the first to the last page. I really enjoyed reading about Callum and Cassidy. These two characters were ones I really enjoyed reading about. I really enjoy a great second chance romance and this one was one that I’ll enjoy & remember for quite sometime.
