Today, I watched The Baxter, a rom-com about a nice guy who decides to stand up for himself for a change when a former lover of his fiancée comes back into the picture. Prior to David Wain making a solid rom-com spoof with They Came Together, another alum from MTV's The State did his own rom-com spoof. While They Came Together brought it's absurdity out in the open, Michael Showalter did The Baxter with a much dryer approach. At the time of release, the reception wasn't so positive. In all the fairness, Wet Hot American Summer didn't have a good reception either upon release, and now it's considered one of the best comedies of the 2000s. While The Baxter may not be as good as either They Came Together or Wet Hot American Summer, I still found myself laughing at a pretty good chunk of this. Sure, Michael Showalter may not be leading man material and is easily outshined by the supporting cast, but I do think he is perfectly casted considering his role in the parody context. Michael Showalter mistakingly referring to Feng Shui as "Schlong Free" is still very funny. Given that the masses weren't exactly too keen on The State's style of humor back then, I wouldn't be surprised if people warmed up to The Baxter by now. I mean, I liked it much more on this rewatch. Stoner film, noun. A subgrene of comedy with themes of marijuana, where recreational use often drives the plot. Happy 4/20! A day associated with getting high, so it feels only right to look back at some of my favourite stoner films in celebration… as I will not be partaking in the popular event today. Films around partying, drugs and good times have been a staple of the comedy genre for decades, and they continue to entertain audiences of all generations today. The stars of the genre have included some of the biggest names in comedy including Seth Rogen, Jason Sudeikis, Ryan Reynolds, Jonah Hill, Seth two time Academy Award winner Emma Stone, Jim Belushi, Jennifer Aniston, Sean Penn, Nicolas Cage and Mark Wahlberg. Patos es una película animada de comedia y aventura del 2023. Una familia de patos abandona la tranquilidad de su estanque de Nueva Inglaterra para visitar Jamaica. Sin embargo, la aventura da un giro inesperado cuando se pierden en la ciudad de Nueva York. Indudablemente es una película muy carismática y sencilla, que es el plan perfecto para ver en familia y que te asegura pasar un rato más que agradable viéndola. Y es que pese a tener algunos momentos muy similares a otras películas de su estilo, si no le pides mucho y meramente te entregas a lo que la película te ofreces la pasas super bien, pues esta diseñada para eso, para entretener. Tiene buenos momentos de comedia, los personajes son interesantes y carismáticos, en lo personal quede enamorada del personaje de Gwen, y pues es una cinta que busca rescatar la unión familiar y el trabajo en equipo.
