I'll admit it's been decades since I read Huck, so I don't remember much about the original, but now I don't feel that I need a re-read. James was everything the original should've been, and in flipping the POV's and reframing an 'adventure' story to what would've probably been a realistic experience for someone in Jim's position. As you can imagine it wasn't a lighthearted read, but it wasn't heavy either. I fell in love with Everett's storytelling, and the audiobook narration brought it to the next level. Itโs funny how you often never know in life when the โlastโ time will be. Our days are numbered and we have no idea what our number is until it comes. That reality makes digging in with each other now all the more valuable. It makes our presence with one another a powerful thing. It makes me overflow with gratitude for all of the rhythms that keep us tied together as families. So I dive back in with todayโs #fridayfeature with two specific memoriesโone of Len (Marshallโs dad) and one of my brother, Willโtoday wouldโve been his 35th birthday๐๐ 1. We had no idea this Easter was the last family celebration the Teagues would have with Len (aka Bapa). In fact, originally half the family was not even able to come to the annual egg hunt, egg toss and dinner. But the stars aligned and Godโs providence gave us the sweetest of memories. For most of the active events, Lenโunable to walk steadilyโwatched from his chair. But when it came time for the egg toss, lover of games that he was, he was ready to join in. Jesse helped walk him over and it was a highlight of the day watching his smile. And itโs not lost on any of us that we got to share that day together as a full family before his final decline that would come in the following weeks. 2. In March of 2020, my brother, sister and I congregated at my parentโs houseโliterally on the eve of the pandemicโs commencement. Our aunt had just passed away and weโd gathered for the funeral. I remember thinking how sweet it was to just be the five of usโvery rare with having kids of my own. On the morning before we all left to go home we had a large breakfast togetherโone of our family traditions when we are all in one place. Bacon, eggs, toast, coffee, orange juiceโthe works. We talked, told stories, laughed. I think we even talked about death strangely enough. Again, none of us knowing that 3 months later Willโs time would be up on this earth. These rhythms in place created happy memories that have provided a sense of solace after having to say goodbye. And I write about it all with full gratitude to mine and Marshallโs parents respectively, for making these traditions a mainstay and source of love and connectionโจ

Ryan is originally from Livermore, CA, but now resides in Surprise, AZ with his wife Tammy, and four kids Isabella, Kolby, Brock, and Lexie. They have a Boxer named Coco, and a Pomeranian named Roxie! When Ryan isnโt busy working, him and his family enjoy taking their SXS out to the desert, dunes and mountains while eating bacon! An interesting fact you may not know about Ryan is that he played in the Jr Olympics for Club Volleyball. How cool! Ryanโs biggest goal for 2024 is already planned! They are doing an Alaskan cruise with a dog sledding excursion on a glacier. Awesome!! Thank you, Tammy, Isabella, Kolby, Brock, and Lexie for sharing Ryan with us.
