Niya is known for her brash decisions and her latest has her bound to a pirate lord and his crew for a year, and he just happens to be the (gorgeous and infuriating) pirate lord that broke her heart four years ago. I loved this story. Itโs definitely a slow burn enemies to lovers. And I think these stories are really a bit on the lighter side of romantasy and spice. So if thatโs what youโre looking for, these are so good. Last Sunday, I finished another draft of Sky Heart and reached out to my editor to book in the final edit. The word count has increased slightly since she last quoted. Sky Heart currently stands at 94.5k words. This is about 8k words more than Ocean Heartโs final word count of 86k. I wanted to keep the novels around the same length so the spines look even on a bookshelf. I think series look more aesthetically pleasing when it all matches. Until I have my editors feedback, I canโt work anymore on Sky Heart. I feel a bit restless after working on it for weeks/months. The Way I Used To Be by Amber Smith โญโญโญโญโญ Read on: 27th April 2024 Ooh, what a book! This was such an intense book and I went in not knowing what it was about at all! An incredibly fast paced, heart wrenching book. Quite a difficult book to read but it's important to read things you wouldn't normally choose. My heart ached for Eden, and it was horrible seeing how it affected her in all of her relationships, whether that was family or friends and so sad that this must happen so often. I found it very interesting to see how the author wrote Eden to deal with the trauma and aftermath, when throwing herself into parties, and drugs etc and how she was labelled a 'slut'. It was interesting to see that she seemed to take this label on and her whole life became based around that label, like she took on that role that other people had given her. I also liked that throughout the book the author jumped to the next chapter in Eden's life, for example, being a freshman, a sophomore and then being in junior and senior year. Voss are the big bad guys but the Dyvok were quite the villians in this intallment. Book Haul! ๐๏ธโจ ๐ญ Do you ever put yourself on book buying bans? Iโve done really well with not buying books so far this year! This is my first haul of the year. Happy Saturday, my friends! I hope youโve been having a lovely weekend so far. Iโve gotten a lot of reading time in, and my family and I just watched a bunch of old home movies which I always love doing. Such great memories. ๐ฅฐ Last week, my husband and I went to a giant used book sale that our old city has every year. I went last year and had so much fun, so I think itโs going to be a tradition for me from now on. I was able to walk away with a decent stack, and these were $3 each! Troilus and Cressida is slowly becoming one of my favorite Shakespeare history plays. ๐ญ I lowkey (highkey) have a crush on Troilus, and I love how wise Cressida is about love and life. I'm trying to read more of the history plays since I tend to shy away from them. Not only did I get @tri.state.reader to join me (even though I made her meet me super early)โฆ I got to visit some of my fav local bookstores (see tags) and some of my favorite local booksellers (@thesaltybookworm)โฆ ran into best selling authors (@cocogolightly)โฆ and was totally able to bring some new favorites home (educated guess ๐คฃ๐คฃ)! Duologies that are criminally underrated. Duologies are absolutely my bread + butter. When I know a story is told in a duology, I flow through it so easily. To me, it's such a good balance between not enough story + possibly too much. Here are four duologies that I genuinely believe do not get near enough hype. I hardly ever see any of these mentioned + I think that's a shame. Each one has such an interesting story inside. There's LGBTQ+ representation in some of them, plenty of betrayal, the Witch Haven has a morally grey character that I still haven't quite forgiven myself for still being obsessed with.. and just so much more. 10 Hours to Go by Keely Parrack โญโญโญ Read on: 23rd April 2024 I nearly didn't finish this book but I am glad I stuck with it because I don't really like not finding out the ending. It was a little bit of a slow start and I felt that the 3 main characters were a little childish for holding grudges since their teenage years. The whole storyline seemed a little far fetched to be honest and not overly convincing. I was expecting more to happen with the 'abandoned' house they found in the forest and it felt as if it was just added in for the sake of it. I did find quite a lot of it repetitive which is why I nearly didn't continue with it. However, once I got nearly 3/4 of the way through the pace sped up and was easier to keep going. 500 Mile Walkies by Mark Wallington โญโญโญโญโญ Read on: 8th January 2024 I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it was very funny and I enjoyed Marks sarcasm throughout. It definitely reminded me of Raynor Winn's The Salt Path, just funnier. His descriptions of Boogie made me laugh, especially when everyone kept patting him on the head, and commenting on his appearance. I liked the part when Mark said by the end of it, all Boogie had was a headache and identity crisis! This book was fab because of the humour and for Mark's honesty about the people he met along the way and the things he encountered. I found the first half of the book a little repetitive and long winded but when it swapped half way through to the time in Thailand it sped up a lot! Both the main characters clearly were very similar and didn't care how far they had to go to get where they needed to be. They both backstabbed each other and I did not see that coming at all!
