I enjoyed #Glassonion, not as much as I enjoyed #knivesout but I thought it was fun. It’s a separate story from the original so no NEED to see the original but I would recommend it. We are given all the fun stylings of a good mystery. An exotic location, a cast of eccentric characters all with different motives, some twists, some turns and all around good fun and tempo. I’m a sucker for a good mystery and overall I think Glass Onion satisfies my craving but did not challenge me in a way I’d prefer. It’s a Saturday night #popcornmovie. It’s more a dig at society and modern billionaires than a phenomenal mystery, but I felt the entertainment value was hidden in the layers of the movie. It’s character based. If you are here for the story it’s fine, but if you are here for the characters and interactions it’s a fun little zig-zag. It is also very entertaining to listen to #DanielCraig aka #jamesbond do a southern accent. I feel I’m late to the party on this one but it’s a fun “I dono what to watch” kinda flick. Here's how some folks look at it: Emotional Impact: A nonsensical movie can still be a great experience if it makes you feel something powerful – scared, excited, happy, heartbroken. If it takes you on a ride, that's a win for some viewers. Suspension of Disbelief: We agree to go along with the movie's world as long as it's internally consistent. Superhero/Scifi movies, for example, often have fantastical elements, but as long as the rules of their universe are clear, we can enjoy the story. Artistic Merit: Some films are more about mood, atmosphere, or visual spectacle than strict logic. These can be powerful experiences even if the plot isn't airtight. However, there's also a place for logic: Clarity: A confusing or nonsensical plot can be frustrating for viewers. If we can't follow what's happening or why characters are doing things, it's hard to get invested. Cohesiveness: A movie with plot holes or inconsistencies can take you out of the experience. Even if it's entertaining, it might not feel well-crafted. Genre Expectations: Comedies can be silly, but there's still an expectation that the humor will be internally logical. Action movies need a certain level of cause-and-effect. So, it's kind of a balance. Movies can be creative and exciting, but they should also be clear and engaging enough to hold your attention. In the end, it's up to you! Somehow even all these years later Star Wars the last Jedi continues to be a film that divides me. I love a lot of it and I really don’t like some of it. But I just wanna talk Positives today, I think it’s the best made Star Wars movie, I love the things it says about hero worship and legacy’s, I love what they do with Rey, Luke and Kylo Renn, visually I think it’s striking. Taking the iconic character of Luke skywalker and giving him a similar Jedi story as Yoda and Obi wan and subverting the expectations I thought was genius and the older Luke might be my favourite version of the character. Kylo Renn becoming the big bad by the end of the movie made him so much more threatening than he was in Episode 7. I do think lucasfilm let this story down with their reactionary responses in Episode 9. I just don’t get how Rian Johnson went so wrong with this film. The Force Awakens was so damn good but The Last Jedi fell so flat. Despite my distaste for the movie, I do like a few things. I actually like the connection between Rey and Kylo Ren. I also just think Rey is a great character in general. She’s just super likable. And, of course, the music is always top notch. On the other hand, this movie was a disaster on so many fronts. First and foremost, you had a number of times where they could’ve given Leia the death she deserved as a tribute to Carrie Fisher but they chose to not go that route. Then you had character decisions throughout that just annoyed the hell out of me. On top of that, we were given subpar, anticlimactic fight scenes (Finn and Phasma being the most egregious). I hated what they did to Luke’s character too. He got a chance to redeem himself but he was just a bitter old man for most of the film. I’m sure I can think of other issues to bitch about but these were my main problems I had with it. I still think Phantom Menace is the worst film in the franchise but this, too me, is a relatively close second. I’ll give this movie a 3.75/10. Knives Out is a film from 2019 written & directed by Rian Johnson. It’s a dark comedic murder mystery film that tells the story of Private Detective Benoit Blanc who is solving the death of Harlan Thrombley which is revealed as a suicide but then later on thinks that someone in the family has something to do with it which he goes ahead and investigates who did it!! I had so much fun with this film and I’m so glad I gave this a rewatch. It’s such a funny murder mystery whodunnit film with a star studded cast, great direction, a great screenplay, beautiful cinematography, and an incredible score. Rian Johnson does an amazing job behind the directors chair and he wrote an incredible screenplay which makes this film super funny, interesting, exciting, and overall has you thinking to yourself, who was behind this??? The cast here is incredible. Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc is fantastic and nobody could have played this role better than he did. His Foghorn Leghorn accent is just hilarious and top notch!!! Another standout here is Ana De Armas and she is awesome in here!! I find this film to be her best role and overall, my favorite from her. She’s super funny, likable, and is someone you want to win at the end of the day. Chris Evans was funny in here and absolutely kills it!!! (No pun intended) Just overall the cast in here is funny and just great which include Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and the late great Christopher Plummer!!! Rest in Peace. The score is beautiful by Nathan Johnson who’s been a frequent collaborator with Rian Johnson due to them being cousins and the cinematography from Steve Yedlin is top notch!!!
