The Crow is finally released on 4K today! It's an excellent looking disc, and Paramount has done a wonderful job. It's a great movie, and I wish this genre had movies like this. More grit, more roughness, and more authenticity, I love it. Getting a SteelBook will be near impossible. The SteelBook completely sold out even under pre-order, and so did the standard edition. But the standard edition should come back in within a week or two. Great release! Kino Lorber release High Noon which I found to be an excellent movie. I don't think Grace Kelly has Looked better. She's stunning in this movie. A great movie for standing up for what you believe in, and your values. The Addams Family 1 & 2 (2019/2021), get released from Shout Factory today! • Update #026 • Nachdem in den letzten Updates regelmäßig Filme vom Label Radiance Filme in die Sammlung kamen, nähere ich mich nun langsam den aktuellen Stand der Veröffentlichungen an. Mit The Shape of Night gab es diesen Monat abermals einen japanischen Film. Thieves Like Us hingegen gibt es schon länger und schließt somit eine Lücke. Von Radiance werden in UK darüberhinaus auch die Raro Video Titel vertrieben. Mit Il Boss erscheint nach The Night of the Devils wieder ein Film in dem Gianni Garko zu sehen ist. Ich hoffe erneut auf eine Perle. Bei Kiyoshi Kurosawas Wife of a Spy muss ich nicht mehr hoffen. Der Film hat mich direkt bei der ersten Sichtung überzeugt. Das nuancierte Schauspiel und die tolle Inszenierung haben mich heute mehrfach an den Film denken lassen und eine erneute Sichtung wird folgen. The Great Scout & Cathouse Thursday (1976) ... In this film, at the end of his era, a wild west hero is joined by an half aboriginal, a conman, and a prostitute on a mission to reclaim money owed to him by a former cohort. Our next Mixed Bag entry takes us into some bloody entertaining territory. First off, if you've got a poster like this one's, I'm kinda guaranteed to watch your movie. Secondly, I bought this for the great Ollie Reed alone, the fact that Schlockland fave Kay Lenz features prominently waa a complete and welcome surprise. This is a f*cking fun little movie, man. The elephant in the room first: The film is dated. Ollie Reed plays an half aboriginal despite being an Englishman. Homos*xuality is considered revolting on one occasion. The R word is used and alluded to pervasively. Violence toward women is depicted. What was considered saucy at the time is a little rough going these days. And more... We don't support this, of course, but, coming to understanding, the film presents a nicely sweeping, highly comedic adventure full of silly hijinks, exceptional use of comical body language, and all in a Red Dead Redemption, dawn of a new age setting. Lee Marvin, surrounded in goofy, holds the line and delivers a weathered hero most of the time, making those moments where he cracks bloody hilarious. Ollie Reed was one-of-a-kind. Striking as he was, the man could do unpredictable unhinged brilliantly and his delivery and body acting was ON POINT every single time. No one coulda delivered slide 2 like Ollie ffs 🤣🤣🤣 Ms. Lenz slays as the young prostitute trying to escape the life. She's a funny little wiener sometimes, acting as a fine catalyst for a lot of the humour. She's also solid in the tender moments when trying to convince our hero to be more than he currently is. Her performance is at once touching and hopelessly amusing. The film plays it rather light, providing a breezy bit of play that yanked the giggles out of me like fuggin' crazy. Its dumb is somehow pinpoint brilliant and I never found a dull moment the way thru. Nothing profound but a new fave nontheless.
